Hong Kong is an amazing place! When...

Hong Kong is an amazing place! When we landed at the airport, we caught the airport express which took us to Kowloon and connected us to a free bus to our hotel. We were staying at the Salisbury YMCA in Kowloon.
This hotel is in the best location in Kowloon, with views of the harbour. The Peninsula hotel (one of the best hotels in the world) is a couple of doors down which has the same views at a much much higher price.
The room was spacious (a twin en-suite room), clean and well equipped with the facilities you would expect in a hotel. Clean, comfortable, the staff were so courteous and helpful and spoke good English. The restaurant was lovely (especially if you like all you can eat seafood) and the cafe in the lobby was great value.
Amazing location, great price - not sure what more praise I could possibly give it!

Ever think of traveling to the Far...
10 / 10
Jan 2007, Mrs A. K. Slane

Ever think of traveling to the Far East, then Hong Kong is the place for you. The hectic life of the big city can only be enjoyed when you're on holiday, and the place to visit is bright lights, big Hong Kong!
Booking flights and the hotel independently was straight forward, and surprisingly reasonable, but if you want a little gem - the Salisbury YMCA Hotel in Tsim Tsa Tsui, Kowloon Side is a must. Great location across from Hong Kong Island, right next to Star Ferry - this hotel offers harbour view rooms at a reasonable price, which with the 'Symphony of Lights' display every 8pm is a view not to be missed. The hotel has all the facilities including an indoor swimming, a cheap yet great downstairs cafe style restaurant, but a luxurious international buffet which offers anything from prime Australian rib steak, a selection of sushi to delicate handmade desserts, and all for approx. twenty pounds. With food like this, you never have to eat out!
Hong Kong is safe city, with English widely spoken and traveling is well signposted to help you on your way. With the cleanest underground metro link system, visiting places in Hong Kong is easy.
Now where to visit - how about 'The Peak' - set on Hong Kong Island, visitors travel up the steep slopes by tram to the top of the peninsula, overlooking the bright lights of Hong Kong harbour. It's deceiving, but upon 'The Peak' is not only an array of high class restaurants, a shopping centre and lets not forget 'Haagen Daaz'. Great for photographs, but do try to get there prior to sunset - a view you won't forget in a hurry!
Happy Valley - Night Races
Organised trips offered through the hotel were outstanding, for a reasonable price you are whisked away to Hong Kong Island to the Happy Valley Racecourse, where free drinks and a glorious buffet awaits - feast your fill until the start of six races. With a view from the balcony, this is an experience you'll be dying not to miss.
Street Markets - Temple St Night Market / Ladies Market / Goldfish Market / Flower market and bird Market. Bargains galore - spenders paradise from designer clothes and watches to beautiful carved bird cages, Hong Kong has it all!
Hong Kong offers any visitor a wealth of experiences, with culture and heritage (Wong Tai Sin Temple) to streets of commercialism in the form of a multitude of electronic shops. With great bargains to be had, warm glorious weather and great food, if you like an adventure, this is the place for you - it even has a Disneyland, so what more could you ask for?
