La Pergola Hotel

Just returned from a lovely holiday at the Pergola hotel. We went with a few concerns after reading an awful review left by a gentelman 2 weeks before we left. However we found all his negative comments untrue and very unfair. This is a 2 star plus hotel NOT a 4star. Considering that ,it was great. Staff were terrific and nothing was too much trouble. I am the first to admit that I want everything on my vacation to work exactly like it is suppose to. Alas, I am also a realist and know that it doesn't always happen that way...... The Bad: 1)The Air Conditioning. It did not work. 1st-because there was no electricity to it, then because it was broken. The drive down the Amalfi Coast is enough to scare the pants off the best drivers in the world. When we got to the hotel, the first words we heard from Daniel, the owners son, were: "Can I Park it for You"......the 4 of us thanked God and laughed, because this was a two lane road with nothing but the beautiful Med down below. The owner made us a drink to calm our nerves and it worked. we had no idea what was in it, but it worked. They took our bags to our rooms which we found by going to the roof that was a gardeners paradise... more

This small family run Hotel is fantastic. It is new and spotless. The family is so friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about getting around the Amalfi area. The roof top terrace w/ lemon groves is so picturesque. Views from the balconies are spectactular. Brunch is fresh fruit and home made tarts. We met so many nice people staying at the hotel when we were there.

What a great and freindly place to stay Dates : October 22nd 26th(4 nites). We were looking for a place on the Amalfi coast that was a family run business and had views of the bay of Salerno but allowed access to all the tourist spots. Found this wonderful place on a web site that identifies property by town and region within Italy and most are Family run accommodation places. We returned yesterday after a week staying at La Pergola, and we can thoroughly recommend it; it is close enough to Amalfi to be accessible, but not too close to be noisy. Buses run to Amalfi literally from outside, or you can walk (a bit steep, and probably about 20 minutes or so depending on your fitness). It is SPOTLESSLY clean, and the daily maid service keeps it that way every single day. There is a garage facility at 10 euros a day if you have a car with you. Me and my girlfirend stayed here for a week last August and had a fantastic time. The Hotel is a little gem along the coast and about a 25mins walk from the town Amalfi or a short journey on the bus from the stop just outside the front door. It was immaculately clean and we had a fantastic room with a private terrace and the entire place is based on the coastal road and surrounded by working lemon groves. A large group of our friends met us in Amalfi and all of us stayed at La Pergola. We had some trouble finding the hotel, but we called and the staff were very helpful in getting us there safe and sound. The hotel is immaculately clean and very well-maintained. For us, its location, about a 20 minute walk from Amalfi's downtown, made it the perfect place to relax away from the noise and bustle of the town. We recently spent a week on the Amalfi coast and stayed in this excellent hotel, La Pergola, in the town of Amalfi. The staff were the most helpful I've ever encountered in a hotel and went out of their way to make us feel welcome as well as advising us on how to get to places, timetables, cheapest options etc. They seemed keen - and pleased - to help us at any time and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. We were at La Pergola hotel (Amalfi). Our staying was incredible, Mrs. Rita cooked for us tipical food, fish specially, all excellent. Then we visited their Lemon garden, I have never seen something like that. We must thank to Daniel, he helped us in everything we needed, and Mr. Proto explained us, with all his patience, how Limoncello is made. Thank you for all...we will be back!!!!!
