Locked In
from jamking
The Hotel as advertised is near a beach, but is hemmed in by a motorway and railway line. The reception staff where a bit surly, whereas the waiters in the restaurant couldn't be more helpful. You need to hire some transport as the bus and taxis service is poor. Sicily has a lot to offer but I think I would go for a more traditional hotel if I return
Very Bad Choice of Hotel!
from BournemouthTogs
We were very, very disappointed with this hotel, the food was absolutely awful, the rooms very basic, cold or luke warm showers, no bath. The staff barely noticed we were there as guests, very little English spoken by the staff and quite honestly we were glad we could afford to eat out and avoid the food at the hotel. This is alledgedly a 4* hotel, in our experience we would rate it as 3* for the rooms and 2* for the food. The wine was equally as bad and having given a few (overpriced) bottles a chance decided beer was safer. We will certainly not return to this hotel or any others from the same group.
Good Hotel, spoiled by the food and dining arrangements
from Living_to_Travel
We chose this hotel from a package brochure, and from its 4 star description. 1. The hotel is very difficult to locate, and the approaches are depressing, with a road underpass that is badly in need of repair. The map on the website is no help at all. 2. The hotel buildings and grounds are very good, well laid out and maintained. The rooms are comfortable and quite large, but with so much foliage outside they tend to be gloomy by day. The two pools are large and well maintained. 3. The big let-down in this hotel is the food. The buffet arrangements mean that even when the hotel is far from full, the table resources and waiter availability are very streched. After 1 day, we didn't return to this dining arrangement, and ate out. 4. Had we not hired a car, this hotel would not have been suitable; as it was people without cars resorted to the several excursions ( at extra cost) to take them to other parts of the island. There is a bus shuttle service availabe, but it runs infrequently In summary, the 4 star rating of this hotel does reflect the buildings and grounds, but the food is 2-star.
An insult to Italian culture!!
from American_in_Italy
I am an american who has been living in Italy for 3 years, and finally made it down to Sicily. This hotel caters to people who want to be entertained, not anyone who enjoys good ambiance, excellent service or wonderful Italian cuisine. You will likely be given a buffet dinner, which was included in our room price. This means a mix-mash of food, not entirely from the region, and hoards of people, including kids with their sticky fingers touching everything - non existent waiters (hard to get wine from a buffet, so the hotel waiters do have to, well serve). We got the impression the wait staff were seasonal and never worked in a decent italian restaurant before... I nearly got knocked over by one on the way back from the buffet line, and no apology, in fact he seemed to take delight in it. It was so disgusting to me watching people load up their plates of low qualtity food and swallowing it down in between breaths of yelling at their screaming kids I lost my appetite. During dinner, the entertainment committee came around table to table to lure guests down to the evening entertainment event. I guess this was ok, if that was what you are interested in. The only real positive thing I can say is the hotel has a nice piece of property / on the beach.... but don't be surprised when you are asked for a 20E deposit (in cash) for the towels. Sorry I don't have anything positive to say..... if I were forced to stay there again I would for sure not eat there.
Nothing special
from Dashuccia
We spent there the third week from our 3weeks travel around Sicily. First week in Letojanni, second week -trip by bus and the last in Fiesta. Hotel is nice but too impersonal. It could be located anywhere and nothing would change. -Food was very good - international dishes and many local specialities we didn't expect to find in large hotel. -Plenty of people, sometimes it was hard to find free beds on the beach, also in restaurant - you need to wait to find a free table at dinner. -Beach was the worsest among the beaches we had visited before ( Letojanni and Taormina beaches, Mondello , Cefalu, somewhere near Selinunte). Sand with stones, opaque water, no beautiful view. Jellyfishes (but they are everywhere). We didn't swim much there, but took hotel bus to Cefalu and swam there ( strange enough, but the beach located at Cefalu itself is much more pleasant, water is clear and views are great). Water in Tirren Mare(north of th Sicily, also location of hotel) is wormer than in Ionic Mare ( Letojanni) -Rooms were nice, stuff was polite - What we didn't like most of all was that hotel is very far from towns and there is no place to walk. You can get to Cefalu (bus goes 3 times a day ), and Palermo - once a day. And hotel is located in the centre of the 30 km valley, mountains are far. Sicily is full of wonderful views and to stay at this hotel means to lose and opportunity to watch this beauty.
Great holiday
from sweetiemice
We have recently returned from Sicily and we had a great holiday. We chose this hotel because we had two teenagers (16 & 17 yrs old) with us and hoped that the daytime and evening activities would help keep everyone entertained. We were not disappointed. We combined days at the hotel with sightseeing and found that the options for buses from the hotel and organised excursions worked well, although it's usual for us to hire a car on holiday. The hotel is about a half hour max. from Cefalu (a charming town); however, though it would have been good to have been closer, the food and evening entertainment at the hotel suited our party on this occasion. Everything was clean and well maintained.
the Sicilain experiance
from A TripAdvisor Member
My daughter and I spent 1 week at the Fiesa garden Beach and it was the most wonderful holiday. The hotel was perfect, the location ideal and all of the staff were so helpful. There was a very good selection of food for all tastes and the service was again perfect. We met so many lovely people at the hotel and also made friends with the staff. The evening entertainment was excellent especialy the hotel shows in the evening. i have travelled through many parts of Italy but truly found the Sicilian people that we met so kind and I will never forget my holiday there and will return next year and hopefully for many years after.
nice hotel
from hantshawk
This is a nice hotel, but is a little isolated you would need a car the be able to visit other areas. There is a bus to Cefalu daily .The grounds are very nice as are the pools .If you like the french this is the hotel for you. The biggest draw back is the rooms which have little or no soundproofing and the two storey buildings do not have a lift. the food which is usually a buffet is 3 star not 4 .
Great value 4 star resort
from A TripAdvisor Member
I travelled all over sicilly for my honeymoon and think this was the best value resort of them all. For £85 you get full board in a 4 star hotel. the rooms are very clean and modern with balconies, the resort has 3 large swimming pools and recreational areas. best of all though is the amazing buffet at the end of the night. That alone is worth the hotel cost. The only downside i guess would be the difficulty in locating the hotel from the autostrada if coming by car. Cefalu is a small town very sweet but unlikely to be a place to stay for more than a few days. I would definately love to visit the garden beach again in the future. Highly recommended
Will return for the fifth time next year :-)
from Iva2000
This is really a great place to stay, it's not cheap, but worth it! The staff is friendly, the rooms spacious (and very clean!), the kitchen superb. It's situated in a beautiful, well maintained garden with two swimming pools + the sea. Combine all of that with super-weather and you'll have a perfect holiday. On the downside, without a car it's a bit isolated, there is the hotelbus that takes you to Cefalu twice a day (or Palermo - 1 hr) and ample opportunity for excursions).
