We stayed at the Il Palazzin Hotel for 10 days. The hotel is ideally located and excellent for couples who want a quiet place to stay - so perfect for us. For those who want a livlier time, there is a busy centre close by which has an excellent choice of bars etc. The bus service was cheap (56 cents each way to wherever you wanted to go on the island). We had a lovely room with a fantastic sea view. All of the staff without exception were very friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food for breakfast, and also in the evening. The food was of an excellent quality with generous servings. The house wine was lovely, and at 7 euros for a bottle we found it to be excellent value. There was a heatwave while we were there and so it was great to have air conditioning in the room. We also used the pool most days. This got busy at around 4 in the afternoon, but generally I had the pool to myself at certain times which was great. When I returned to England, I found that I had left my purse in our room with a substantial amount of money in it. I called the hotel and the lady who cleaned our room had handed it in. The manager has taken my details and emailed me to say that he had sent it free of charge. It is so refreshing to discover such honesty and generosity. We will certainly go back to Malta and stay at Il Palazzin again next year.

Firstly - our room was really clean, the breakfast was OK - the usual buffet style - which was ok. Sausages and scrabbled eggs (every morning).
The only member of staff who was pleasant was the maid! The bar was only open when and during Dinner being served! My husband and I nearly had to beg for a bottle of Coke one afternoon when we stayed around the pool. There was absolutely NO facilities for snacks and drinks. The staff were extremely rude and seemed not to like the British very much.
The hotel was in a quiet area, so no traffic noise and it was, fortunately close to all amenities - but I certainly would NOT recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I stayed for one week in July - we had a lovely stay at this hotel - the staff were very good and helpful in all areas.
The breakfast was buffet style with a good selection and good tea & coffee which we didn't enjoy at the last place we stayed in Malta.
The swimming pool was lovely and kept clean - the hotel was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The hotel is situated in a cul-de-sac so it is really quiet, no through traffic. I really think some people are just loooking for something to complain about!!
We were more than delighted with our room and the hotel choice. Thanks to all staff at Il Palazzin for a lovely holiday.

I booked 2 twin rooms after researching on the net for reviews about this hotel, as I found a decent package holiday on lastminute. Seeing some 1 star and some 5 star reviews, I decided to gamble as I wasn't looking for luxury, just a clean and relatively comfortable place to stay for a few nights. It was not a gamble worth taking.
We arrived at 2am because our flight was delayed, and so were unable to do anything when they told us that the 4 of us were all sharing a room, despite having booked 2 and had to get it sorted in the morning. So we all had to share the one bathroom and it was 3.15 before we got to bed. It turned out that the staff all seemed confused about what was going on, were we told we had booked 2 rooms but our printed hotel voucher said it was one room, which I corrected them on and the receptionist said she would get onto our agency about the mix up which I doubt she ever did as we never heard anything regarding them ever again and our holiday rep hadn't heard anything.
The rooms, although clean and decent enough had mattresses which you sank into like giant marshmallows, really old bedding and exposed sharp edges on the bottom of a couple of the smaller beds which I scraped the backs of my legs on everytime I went to get something from the wardrobe because the beds were just squeezed into the space. The food was also dull as people have commented on already, dinner which we dared try on the first night was abyssmal - lukewarm burnt pasta and bizarre tasting aubergine. Yet we would've forgiven this if we didn't get some appalling attitude from a particular receptionist.
My friend and her son were given their own room the following day, but the air conditioning didn't work. When we told the member of staff this she said that it just needed to be left on longer to kick in, so it was and still nothing. When my friend went down to complain the receptionist said yeah it doesn't work, she could give her a fan for the night and noone would come to fix it until the next day; she'd already given us good service for a room we weren't entitled to as we'd only booked one and if she didn't like it she could go back to our 4 person room. So not only was she a liar but she had the worst attitude, I don't even know why she works in hospitality. She wouldn't give her name when asked and only said the manager wasn't in when he was asked for. The fan was brought and the air con fixed but then both only worked on one setting and it was still too hot for sleeping properly through the night. My friend's son then slept in our room because of the heat in their room, which was not ideal because us two women needed to get changed and everything.
Some members of staff did try to help (not that woman of course) so I give them credit for that, but after that 1st day the stay was pretty much ruined as we were afflicted by paranoia that staff who hated us had access to all of our stuff during the day.
Positives were the location of the hotel, it was very close to a bus terminus; proximity to many restaurants although most serve only pizza, pasta and grill and you have to look around for more local fare, I would recommended the small Plum Tree restaurant for it's tasty food and cozy feel; access to the beautiful sea was also good. Buses are a very cheap and convenient way to get to almost anyplace on the island, we got bus passes but this was only to save us looking for change as it as good value as just paying per trip, you'd need to take 6 single trips a day. We enjoyed seeing the island, but the experience was marred by the hotel debacle and I urge you all to STAY THE HELL AWAY!! Spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere.

We stayed at Il Palazzin Hotel in June 2010. After having booked a 4 star to get away from dissapointing 3 stars in previous holidays, I'm afraid the dissapointment remains. This place didn't serve drinks all day, not until 4pm with the bar closing at 10pm, no atmosphere not even background music. When we asked if it would be possible to get a coffee during the day the receptionist said if she wasn't busy at the time she might be able to make us one.How insulting was that. The rooms were 4 star, clean bed linen and towels every day with the maids timing room cleaning when we were at breakfast.Unfortunately that was the only good point of this hotel. The food was lucky if it met 2 star rating. Very bland and rarely warm enough. We definately won't be returning to this hotel and told them so on our departure survey form.Still cant beleive we couldn't get refreshments of any kind during the day, not even a vending machine. As for the indoor pool --- JOKE, and the indoor Gym was broken, yes one exercise machine that looked as if it hadn't been used for about about 20 years. But never mind you couldn't get a drink to cool you down anyway. Please think before you book this place or you might regret it.
