" I have just spent a week in the... "

I have just spent a week in the tropicana suites (15 - 22 /08 ) and it was the worst holiday hotel i have took my family to ever. With flights and the hotel the total cost was approx 2750gbp, what a waste of money that was...First, when I arrived , the two receptionists who were on duty ignored us and served spanish children who came from the pool area while we waited, after waiting for 25 minutes I demanded that we be checked in as my family were tired and hungry after our journey, but it still took a long time as the receptionist served other guests while dealing with us.when we got to our room there was a problem with our sofa-bed, there was black mould along the edge of the bath and between the tiles, also the air conditioning unit from the suite above was leaking and there was a constant drip which could be heard all night making it hard to sleep in that room.most of the time the receptionists could only understand very little english, so when we complained, nothing was done. The cleaners cleaned our room but under the beds and in the corners was still dirty and dusty so we cleaned ourselves as our daughter has asthma and house-dust can be a problem, the cleaners also took the towels and sheets for cleaning but never replaced them with fresh ones so we were left with two towels between five of us and no sheets on my sons bed, when I complained at reception I was told they would be replaced the following day, it was only when I demanded we have towels and sheets that night that they were reluctantly obtained and given to us.The restaurant was understaffed and at peak meal times we often had to clear a table put clean table cloth on before we sat down to eat, there was broken crockery on the floor, food & drink splills that were not cleaned up making it dangerous for us and our children, when we complained to the only waitress on duty we were always told " one minute" and nothing was done, the food was often cold and unappertising,we decided we could no longer eat in this hotel for the safety of our children and instead ate all meals in the hotel magic rock (which was 100% better in all respects) the entertainment at the suites for the children during the day and night was a joke, we went out at extra expense so our children could be entertained ( an upturned table and some rings to throw on the legs is pretty poor entertainment for a hotel this size ) the pool was always very cold as the hotel shaded it from the sunlight for most of the day so we had to go elswhere, again more expense. Altogether for an all inclusive holiday that they advertise as being so good for families, with good food, facilities, and entertainment, well maintained and clean we feel totally let down, if they could get this hotel up to the standard of the hotel magic rock we may concider a return visit but until this happens we would never think about this total waste of a holiday. " One Word: Disaster! My Family And I... "

One Word: Disaster! My Family And I Went To This Hotel Last October 2007 And It Was A Horrible Experience. The Decor Was Ghastly And The Staff Did Not Speak Nor Understand English Not To Mention The Manager Who Was Very Unwelcoming And Walked Around All Day Watchin Everyone Complaining At The Slightest Thing. The Outdoor Pool Was Very Small And The Hotel Is A Good 30 Minute Walk From Any Major Excitment. The Food Here Was Also Another Dissapointment. I Would Strongly Recommend That Anyone Thinking Of A Visit Here Should Think Before Doing So. And I Certainly Wont Be Going Back Here Anytime Soon Unless I Will Be getting Paid!

" We stayed at Magic Tropicana suites... "

We stayed at Magic Tropicana suites Benidorm. What can I say it was great staff friendly and courteous.

It was all inclusive, so the card you get is your key card for your room too.

As for staff taking stuff out off hotel rooms in our case it didn’t happen but for those people it does happen to it is common sense to use the hotel room safe. After all it just like been in hotel in the UK or any where else you do get dodgy people.

The hotel is clean and safe while there we went up to the Magic Rock Hotel and we booked for there next year cos it looks even better.

For any one that does book an hotel any where in room I suggest you lock you valuables up in safe in room or in you suit cases with proper lock and if you use key card remember pick it up after you got your drink, its your responsibility.

" Me and my husband decided to go on an... "

Me and my husband decided to go on an holiday for the first time in years, I texted my daughter three days into our holiday to tell her how much I was enjoying myself. It was a very nice hotel until one night when I went to the bar.

When going to the bar I had to hand in my pass to get drinks as we were on an all inclusive programme, the only problem was that not only was it our pass to get drinks etc it was also the key to our room. What I didn’t know was that why we were in the bar enjoying our holiday, there was a shock to come. The shock of horror was that when I went back to my room, firstly, I couldn’t get into my room and my card wouldn’t work, so my husband put his key in the door. His worked! When I actually got into my room, my room had been robbed. All my stuff had gone, every thing apart from our clothes.

As you can imagine all I wanted to do was go home, I couldn’t sleep and I had two days left of my holiday, I wouldn’t leave my room apart from police station visits. The police came that night and took statements/finger prints etc. The following day we had to go to the police station etc. The police however are investigating still.

Any advice I could give you if you are going to this hotel is to take all your possessions out with you when you go out including your passports. And if you go to the bar watch your pass, don’t take your eye off it, otherwise your room will be broken in to, and make sure you get the right one back.

It is not fair that when you go on holidays there are thieves working in the hotel, waiting to pick you out and steal your things whilst you are in the bar enjoying your holiday, but unknown to yourself there are waiting for their next target. It could be you and it is not a nice experience.

I will never advise anyone to go to this hotel, but if you do make sure you don’t leave anything in your room unattended.

" Just returned from this fantastic... "

Just returned from this fantastic holiday with my wife and two teenage boys. Where do I start? The food was fantastic, varied and plentiful, if you could not find something to like there must be something wrong with you.

The staff were friendly and would do their best to help; entertainment was good and the location was really close to all amenities and the area was quiet. Yes the hill can be a bit hard going but as it a short hill, it is not that difficult. The only downside was the lack of a lounge to relax before meals, there is only a small non-smoking lounge area near the bar and you have to walk through the smoking lounge to go to the dining room.

The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, though cramped with 2 adults and 2 teenage boys sharing. Shower was great, hot water plentiful. Bar open 24hrs, drinks good. Even bottled water was free to take out with you for the day.

Wish we were there!

" This is one of the best hotels I have... "

This is one of the best hotels I have visited, set up a hill which really is not that bad and is quiet at night so that you could get some sleep.

The food was really good and varied and where could you go and get fresh prawns and selections of cooked meats, with plenty of fresh fruit etc amazing.

my son really enjoyed himself he is 10yrs old and Linda and the rest of the entertainment team were excellent. We never saw him all week they even took all the children into lunch, we never had so much freedom.

The only down side to the hotel was the drinks which are watered down but the beer was the best and if you wanted the real spirits you could pay 2 euros.

Also if you like sunbathing you have to dodge the huge block that hides the sun at various times, but we just moved around the pool. We found this hotel overall excellent for your money and all the staff were friendly and was kept very clean.

" I loved this hotel. I think it has... "

I loved this hotel. I think it has changed names. All the Local alcohol is included, and the food was amazing. The rooms are basic but clean and the Staff are friendly.

The Views are spectacular but only because the hotel is situated on top of a Hill. Either way a 1st class holiday. The Town centre and beach are a stones throw. The entertainment included Sticky Vicky which for all you me out there what a performance. The Mayor's wife I believe.

There is the nights and Frights at Castillo del Afaz where knights of all colours fight for your (the Audiences) honor. The go down to see the Alfaz monks in the chilling Alfaz dungeons. Not for small children or weak hearted. After that club in the bar till your hearts content.

" After reading some bad reviews on... "

After reading some bad reviews on here I was worried about visiting this hotel. However, when I got to the resort I was pleasantly surprised.

We were dropped off at the rear of the hotel, at the second reception, but it was not hugely difficult to get down to the main reception as some reviewers would have you believe.

The hotel was absolutely spotless, and looked to have new flooring and freshly painted walls. Our room was lovely, again the bathroom looked as if it had been done recently. There were no problems with any of the facilities in our room, everything worked as it should. All the employees of the hotel were nice, friendly and keen to make our holiday pleasant.

We were all inclusive and very happy with the food on offer, a lot of variety and plenty of it. Perhaps some people would have preferred a plainer British menu but even for them there would be at least one thing available on the menu for them.

Many people have complained regarding the hill that the hotel is situated on, calling it cardiac hill. However, we did not find it too steep, we had a baby buggy which made it more difficult certainly, but in all we managed to go up and down it several times a day. It would definitely not be suitable for a wheelchair bound person, unless willing to get a taxi up to the hotel.

In conclusion, I would love to go back and would have no doubts about staying at this hotel again.

" What you get out of your holiday to... "

What you get out of your holiday to Benidorm is probably dependent on what you expected in the first place.

My mum loves the place and it was on her recommendations that I went. She loves the warmer climate, the relaxed atmosphere and the variety of shopping and nightlife.
Whereas I on the other hand liked Aqualandia and Mundomar - and that's pretty much it.

The hotel was reasonably cheap, but had recently had a make over to some kind of weird pre-historic theme, I think the idea was to appeal to more families, but in my opinion made in seem exceptionally tacky. The food was so poor I only ate in the hotel one evening and had toast every morning. The fittings were particularly dated and i felt a little on the dangerous side (I had a kettle that only worked after extensive wiggling of cables and that wouldn't switch off without further wiggling).
But on the plus side, it was clean.

Benidorm as a resort is typical Spanish sea-side - OK if that's the sort of thing you want. But on the whole nothing special.

Aqualandia and Mundomar were both good (Waterpark and Animal Park with dolphin shows etc), and great if you have kids or are an overgrown one yourself.
I would consider going to Benidorm again, if I wanted a reasonably cheap chance to top up the tan without any intentions of doing anything other than sunbathing or drinking.

For a little more variety, I'd do a bit more shopping around.

" Just returned from staying in the... "

Just returned from staying in the hotel and will give you the facts:

Now called the Magic Rock Gardens

On arrival, the property was under major reconstruction. The top reception is a building site.

Nobody tells you that you are on the second floor and that the main reception is 3 floors down (Look for RC)- don’t expect help with case etc.

Problems with room doors, no working kettles fridges or TVs. Power socket tripped all the fuses when we tried to plug in an appliance. Oh and no hot water.

After 2 days managed to get water and door fixed.

This hotel has no balcony but as there isn’t a view it wont bother you.

The restaurant is not very good and tended to close early as they ran out of food.

Unless you have walking difficulties the hill isn’t to bad and to be honest the location is great.

Staff are friendly but tend to be a bit edgy probably due to all the complaints. Having discussed the problems with others IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE FAIRLY NORMAL AND UNFORTUNATELY YOU GET USED TO THEM- OR GO INSANE!

Other slight problems included that the main swimming pool was closed, the entertainment bar had penetrating water (nice water feature) and the main reception (with a rock theme) had a damp smell.

Hope you have all inclusive as the upgrade is 20 Euros per person per day.

The hotel was probably the worst I have stayed in and as a frequent traveller I don’t say that lightly.

If you can change, do! If you can’t the location is terrific.

I AM SURPRISED THAT THE MAGIC GROUP ALLOW THIS AS THEY ARE A GOOD COMPANY. HOPE THINGS IMPROVE

Finally we did enjoy ourselves as Benidorm is terrific.

" When my partner and I decided to have... "

When my partner and I decided to have a one weeks break during his shut down from work, we thought that we would short haul, as it was just for the 7 days. We have a 5 year old daughter, so decided on the all inclusive package as it suits all of us.

We booked our holiday with Thomsons, as we’ve been with them before and have had no problems.

Members of my family recommended the Tropicana, so we thought we would take their advice and go ahead booking it.
I’m ever so glad that we did - because, even though it was only at Benidorm, one of the best holidays that we’ve been on thanks to this hotel.

When we arrived there, I was a little dubious about the hill ( they call it heart attack hill over there ) and of course, that would worry any of you. However, being in our late 20s it wasn’t a problem. I would say though, it wouldn’t suit the older tourist.. the hill that is.
The hotel being all inclusive certainly lived up to its name. This is the sort of hotel that you really don’t have to leave. In addition, you certainly get your money back.

The food was more than brilliant, it catered for everyone’s needs, and me being a funny eater found it most satisfying.
The staff there are very helpful at any hour.
The rooms are always clean, with clean towels every day.
There is no balcony - which was fine with me due to having a child.
The pools are clean. There is a pool side bar which the service was fantastic at.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday this is the place, its not in the centre so there’s no noise.

My partner and I have always said, we wouldn’t go to the same place twice, but I intend to book to go here again.

I would say that three stars for this hotel is surely not enough.

If you have booked to go there - Enjoy - I know you will :)
