Bedruthan Steps Hotel

Booked a last minute 4 day break at Bedruthan Steps Hotel for the end of Easter Week. I booked direct as we have 3 young children and found the reservation department really helpful in finding a room. We ended up in a beautifully appointed 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment suite, adjacent tothe hotel, with fantastic bathroom and plasma tvs. The hotel and suites sit on the top of a cliff overlooking the stunning Mawgan Porth bay, so you can go to sleep to the sound of the sea. The facilities at the hotel are outstanding, indoor heated swimming pool, 3 outdoor swimming pools, spa and solarium , adults only lounge, a huge indoor soft play area, childrens clubs , an Ofstead registered creche, two magnificent outdoor play areas, one with a huge pirate ship etc and another with diggers. The outdoor play areas are by lawns so parents can sit and sunbathe whilst the childrens play. There is a separate childrens tea, food was good and the system worked well for us. There are childrens entertainments every night between 6- 7, magicians, puppets, disco etc and if the worst comes to the worst an in house childrens film channel , so you can watch Wallace and Groommit if needs be. There was so much to do that we had difficulty getting the children out of the hotel to the beach, it also gave the children a good degree of independance in deciding what they wanted to do. Every room had a baby listening service, so once the children were asleep you could go and have dinner, this worked well from our apartment. Downsides: apartment a bit hot, adult food OK, not brilliant. Last orders for adult dinner was 8.45 ,so it was a bit of a rush with 3 children to get them settled and asleep before last orders. Upsides great place and location, very helpful staff- they brought in extra staff at short notice so our children could go in the creche. It is expensive but we can't wait to go again (although we'll have to wait a bit as its booked up all summer.) we met people who had been to the hotel as children and were now bringing their own children back and also grandparent bringing their grandchildren. It was the kind of holiday that made fantastic memories for our children

Disappointed by the standard of accomodation. We had the room above the kitchen fans which ran late into the night. Website misleading in description on non-sea view rooms as 'country-view'.....carpark and staff quarters! Probably great getaway for parents and kids, but i wouldnt recommend it for adults.
