Just stayed for 1 night, i think the four star rating is over the top, 3 would be more applicable. Room was spacious and clean, if a little damp smelling. Restaurant was certainly not up to 4* standards. I had the table dote menu, which was not priced, portions were small, vegetables had simply been microwaved, for £28.00 very over priced, £15.00 would be more appropriate, would not stay there again.

My Husband, 20 month old daughter and I visited this hotel for a much awaited pre-Christmas break after wanting to go there for some time. I am unhappy to say that we were extremely disappointed for a number of reasons which I have detailed below:
Upon our arrival, we were a bit confused as to where the reception was and there were a couple of hotel staff milling about. It would have been fairly obvious that we were looking for something and by neither were we asked if we needed any help.
At our first lunch the children’s menu advertised Freshly Pressed Apple Juice and when I asked the waitress what it would come in for my young daughter I was told it would be a carton of Ribena Apple Juice. I queried what the menu stated and she said to me that we could have the freshly pressed juice and held up two glasses and said "which one would she like?" My daughter is 20 months old and funnily enough doesn't, as yet, use a glass! Very child friendly!
We were really disappointed to find out that we were unable to have an evening meal as a family because children under the age of seven are not allowed in the restaurant. Therefore we were required to sit and "watch" our daughter eat from the children’s buffet on the expectation that we would be putting her to bed and using the "baby listening service" whilst we had a meal in the restaurant. This idea is good in theory and under normal circumstances we would have been happy to do that but unfortunately for our little girl and us, she was unwell during our stay and we were unable and would have been irresponsible to leave her to do this. We therefore had no option other than to order room service which came at a premium of £7.50 per person to deliver it. So having ordered our first evening meal we were advised that our starter would be delivered at around 8.15pm and our main course would arrive around 20 minutes after that. Our starter arrived at 8.40pm, 25 minutes late on too trays (no table) and by 9.30pm our main course still hadn't arrived so I called down to the kitchen only to be told that they had forgotten to cook it! They apologised and said it would be 5 minutes which made me query whether it would be freshly cooked food? I was reassured that it would be and at 9.38 our main course arrived. It was lukewarm, clearly not freshly cooked rubbery fish which needless to say I didn't eat! They had included to "free" glasses of champagne as compensation which we did not need because we had already ordered a bottle of wine to have with our meal.
The following morning a member of the dining staff apologised to us and we were advised that a very nice table had been reserved for us that evening in the main restaurant. We explained that our daughter was still unwell and that we wouldn't be leaving her alone in the room that evening. The man told us that he would keep the table anyway and we again explained that it would not be necessary. Later at lunchtime the same man told us again that they had reserved a very nice table for us and we again explained that our daughter was not well enough to be left! Do these child-friendly staff not get it?!
Apart from the above comments we found the place to be lacking in atmosphere considering it was Christmas time, cold and unwelcoming and we definitely will not be returning. Everything in terms of facilities is there as advertised but I most certainly wouldn't consider this hotel as family or child-friendly.
There is more to say regarding the room service saga and a few other incompetence’s and discrepancies but by now anyone ready this is probably bored and already lost interest and so have I!
