If you are looking for a ski holiday with a bit. or should I say, a lot of pampering, then head to Bormio - specifically Hotel Genzianella.
Went there over New Year and had the most fantastic time - the snow was non-existent but they had the world ski championships on so they'd made a huge effort to make sure there was lots of faux snow. Also encouraging for beginners is the bubble cars that take you up to the ski school areas.
The town is also home to two sets of spa baths - amazing experience and the best way to sooth your body from the aches and pains inflicted on the slopes.
Our hotel was brilliant - great food and fantastic hosts and staff. It really made our holiday. New Years Eve was magic with lots of fireworks and partying on the street. The resort is also child-friendly but caters for young people as well - a really great mix and lots of civilized but fun après ski!
Definitely worth a visit - especially if you love your food as much as your skiing!
