Ravells Hotel Reviews
" Great Hotel if you are on a budget,... "
Submitted By: Mr C Meikle
Great Hotel if you are on a budget, very cenrally located & clean. Some rooms have huge balconies which all overlook the Tropical Gardens where there is decent nightly entertainment. The kids entrertainer, Sid is great ... spends an hour or so with the kids during the day and does a mini disco for about an hr at night.
" Me, my partner and 3 (nearly 4) year... "

Me, my partner and 3 (nearly 4) year old daughter booked our 2 week stay through travel republic and flights with jet 2. We hired a car with Europa car rental.
We arrived at Palma airport to find we had been up graded to and estate car fantastic as we had slightly over done it on the packing!
Took about 45mins to drive to cal a dor. Then a further 10mins to find the Es Ravells due to the fact there so many one way streets!
Arrived and was greeted by a welsh lady Gaye. Gave us our room key we were in block 7 room 204 excellent as it over looked the entertainment.
Off we went to find the lift on entering the room first impressions excellent the only down side was the size of the bathroom! If you any bigger then a size 14 / 16 then you might have trouble getting past the sink to the loo! Nobody else we met had this problem so could be just a few rooms!
Everything else about the apartments was excellent plenty of storage space, space under beds 4 suitcases excellent air con and a safety box in the wardrobe keys in reception (24euros for 2 weeks).
Down stairs in reception they sold magazines books maps water and milk. There was a washer and dryer 3 Euros each and a ping pong table.
Out of reception and down 10 or so steps is Tropical Gardens the pool very large with running water fall shallow end and deep end also a baby pool. Plenty of sunbeds but a bit of towel saving on them!
Take pool shoes for little feet at the floor round the pool gets very hot! Come 12 the Tropical Gardens entertainer Yan (Dutch) arrived every day except sat to do water volley ball and game for the adults bingo is about 3pm.
Pool bar sells everything from snacks to full blown meals has wide screen sky TV for the foot ball etc. excellent staff who love to serve you at your table rather then you going to the bar
Nightly entertainment at Tropical Gardens starts at 8.15 with kids disco excellent for the kids but a bit repetitive for the adults, but kids thoroughly enjoyed it, so that’s what counts. If you not singing the in your sleep by the end of your stay you can always buy their cd!
Adult entertainment starts around 9 till midnight they have tribute bands Abba (excellent) Drifters (very good ) Take That (could dance but not sing looked nothing like them!) West Life (didn’t look like their name sake but all was forgotten as they can sing and dance what a brilliant end to the show ).
Elvis (Elvis is dead please let him rest! His days are over) Rod Stuart (excellent and great with the kids) the Beatles (from Russia like vodka, brilliant) Robbie Williams (what can I say crap) Grease (they did try but my local sixth form could do better) and our favourite the Disney show!
Every little boy and girls dream! Every show ends with the Fun Dance where even the bar staff tony and hosay partake all music in the Tropical Gardens and surrounding area stops at midnight.
Be aware that Tropical Gardens is privately owned so is open to the general public, and can get very busy especially with popular shows so get your seats at 8.30 the latest.
At the front of the apartments is a karaoke bar didn’t visit but heard it every night not many good singers!
Es Ravells is situated 5 mins walk from Cala gran beach 5 mins walk from the centre with plenty of bars and restaurants we never ate at the same place twice during our 2 week stay and there was loads we never got time to try!
Only 1 problem when eating out that was at the Tex mex restaurant in town my meal came 20mins after everybody else’s! The only apology was sorry!
There’s a little train the goes round cal a dor every hour (except siesta) well worth a go adults and children we didn’t have a ride till our last day what a shame as we saw loads of places we would of liked to go....... adults 3 Euros children 2 Euros.
We went on a few days out made use of the hire car went to Inca market on Thursdays lots of leather! And worth a haggle.
Palma centre but hard to park.
Marine land about 20 Euros for adults and UNDER 3 free (they seem to accept children as old as 5 in with the under 3s so don’t be to forth coming with your child’s age and you never no!).
Dolphins seals parrots fish penguins and a children’s water park don’t forget your costume! but be warned when buying food they can over charge, so mentally add up when stood in the queue they over charged me by 8 Euros, I was told when complained that she had "pressed" and extra button on the till by accident as she has big fingers!Worth a visit though.
Aqualand in Arenal about 20 Euros for adults and the same bizarre procedure for under 3s. Lots of water slides plenty of space also lockers to hire and keep your things safe and dry.
Not that many slides if you under 2 meters but over 2 meters plenty of choice my daughter was no way near 2 meters but managed to get on 1 or 2 as there not that keen on checking heights. Can hire sunbeds for 3.50 for the day we didn’t eat at Aqualand after the marine land experience so took a picnic instead pleasant of grassy areas to eat.
Over all an excellent holiday and enjoyed by all 3 of us would definitely recommend and visit again check out their own website as booking direct with them is cheaper.
