Unfortunately this website wouldn't let me rate this hotel 0. Where to start? It was repulsive. My mum and I arrived at the hotel on what was my 17th birthday, hoping for a great holiday. In one year I will be going to university, and this was probably going to be our last holiday together for a while.
When we arrived at the Belvedere hotel, we had to drag our cases up at least 30 stairs as there was no ramp towards the entrance. The reception staff didn't speak very good english but we were eventually assigned a room on the first floor. When we entered this room a smell of sewage hit us, and my mum told me not to unpack and she went to get our room changed. As she did this, I explored and discovered a cracked sewage pipe literally right outside our back door. Lovely.
So, we moved rooms to the 4th floor. We had paid for a sea view but we instead got a view of a courtyard with dying flowers. The room was disgusting. Our beds smelt of urine, there was blood on my mum's sheets, there was faeces on the outside of the toilet, the bedside table had glass rings all over it and hadn't been cleaned in a long time, there was mould on the ceiling and walls, the taps had green gunk around them, there was unsafe electric wiring and the door to the balcony was broken and wouldn't open (fabulous when you're there during a heatwave of temperatures of 42).
We decided we would battle this after dinner and so went down to the restaurant. When we walked into the dining room I could not believe what I was seeing. The dining room looked like a seedy works canteen and was dull and dingy. When I asked a waiter where we should sit he shrugged his shoulders. We then looked at what was on offer for our dinner. There was one small bar displaying the food which was unlabeled so we couldn’t tell what we would be eating. For dinner, there was: Lettuce, Dried Pasta, Bolognaise sauce with a skin on it, Octopus in a watery orange sauce, Some kind of meat, Potatoes and Carrots. We had booked all inclusive but this was not what we had in mind. Especially when we were told we would have to BUY water. At this point I burst into tears. It was possibly the worst birthday I've ever had.
When we walked back into Reception we bumped into another English couple with their 3 teenage children. They had arrived that afternoon and like us had refused to eat in the restaurant. They were in a better position than we were as they had paid for a meal in a restaurant with a credit card. (I had not brought mine with me because as it was All Inclusive and I had brought 305 Euros with me I hadn’t thought it necessary). They, like us, were determined to leave this hotel, so we rang Olympic and demanded we leave. We were told it would be sorted the next day.
We had a sleepless night, as aircraft noise had not been mentioned in the brochure so that kept us awake. The room was airless, and in the morning, we were both extremely hungry, yet found the breakfast inedible.
Whilst we waited for the Olympic representative to arrive, I went to the café by the pool to get a coffee. They were offering elevenses – cake, biscuits etc. This was under plastic lidded containers. However these plastic containers also contained live and dead flies and wasps which had been trapped under the lids. Needless to say I didn’t have any! As we sat around the pool I also noticed how noisy the road was. This was a very busy road and the pool overlooked it. This was not mentioned in the brochure and the buffet bar which can be seen in the picture was certainly missing!
Thank God that the next day we moved hotels.
Never EVER go to this hotel. If you do, it will be the most miserable experience of your life.
