Just got back from a week at the Palmyra hotel Nidri. I booked it last minute and didn't know what to expect, as there were no reviews! But what can I say; it was one of the best holidays I have been on.
I went with my mum- and just wanted a relaxing week away. When we arrived we were given an information pack and a free drink while we waited on the bus. The rep was lovely and spoke fantastic English.
When we arrived at the hotel we were dealt with quickly by the friendly staff. The room was basic but lovely. It was room only so wasn't expecting much- but it had a kitchen area with everything you needed for making snacks (not that you need to), a fantastic powerful shower (which I was not expecting!) and a balcony with amazing views of the sea to one side and the mountains to the other. You can pay extra for air con and safety box, which we did and I recommend.
The pool is always clean and there were always sun loungers available, at times we were the only ones there! The pool bar is very cheap and does fantastic cheap snacks. We shared a baguette, which was huge and only 3 euros! (They would get the bread when you ordered from the bakery up the road so was very fresh!)
Nidri itself is lovely- there is a long street which has plenty of supermarkets and lots of different shops where you can find lovely gifts, and there is a lovely harbour which stretches quite a distance with a huge choice of restaurants and bars to choose from- all of which were lovely.
If you want things to do, you can rent a car or scooter, which seemed pretty cheap, there are boat trips, which take you to different islands and do a BBQ and last all day, and there are also water sports on the beach. However we did none of these things- we just sat by the pool reading and cooling off in the pool as we went in the heat wave-47 degrees!!
The only thing I would warn you about are the mozzies!! We took everything we could think of and still got bitten by the little blighters- although people looked a lot worse than we did!!
It was an amazing holiday and would definitely go back. The hotel is run by a lovely family who will do anything for you. Oh and before I forget- if you like cocktails, have one at the hotel, I don't think they know how to measure shots but they make one hell of a cocktail!!
