Apollo Hotel

We just got back from our tour of Greece and really had a great time. Take a look in the Photo Section because I will be posting a few photos of the hotel and the room. We stayed at Hotel Apollo an were very happy overall. We arrived and took a taxi from the airport which in retrospect was a mistake. We took a taxi and it cost us 35 Euro. That was WAY too expensive. We definitely should have taken the Metro. But at the time we were unsure of the system an how to get around. I would advise anyone else to just get on the Metro... more

Apollo hotel is a terrible place in Athens. We stayed for 3 nights. The room is clean, the toilet is also ok. But they could not supply enough hot water for bathing. I called the staff to solve the problem, he said he will fix it and inform us in one hour, but we didn' t have reply. We booked a double room, and we got one double bed consisting 2 single beds. That was not the problem, the problem was one of them would slide away while lying on it. The staffs are rude and have no idea about the courtesy at all. The woman in the daytime... more

Our experience was terrible. They simply lied to us. We asked about the parking there just in front of the hotel and the man told us it was a safe place. It was the worst place...In the morning our car was robbed inside and almost the own car. Everything was stolen as if they had been rats. We tried to know and we considered finally that the stuff was guilty because of too many contradictions when they explained to us. Besides, rooms are opened when they clean all the time and many things were stolen. Dont stay there, very dangerous area... more

My wife and I stayed at the Apollo for two nights whilst travelling round Europe - we are looking for decent budget accomodation and the Apollo fitted the bill perfectly. The hotel is in an excellent location and genuine 1 min walk to the metro at Metaxourghio. Contrary to a previous review, we found the area (and Athens generally) to be and feel very safe (contrast Rome!) - there are several big hotels around that metro station, it is a well lit and busy area, so I fail to see how anybody could call it unsafe. The Apollo Hotel is quite simply the worst hotel I have stayed in for the money I paid. I have found much better deals throughout my holidays in Greece, but this one, booked with Expedia, is best avoided! - location: in one of the dodgiest area of athens, getting scary at night, even worst than Omonia quarter. Sitting on a busy 2x2 road that is very, very noisy.
