Star Beach Village

Best hotel I've stayed in out of all the Greek islands and mainland regions I have visited. Definitely deserved the 4 stars it has and is ideally placed to go out and about and check out the local area. A ten minute walk to the right as you exit the main entrance is Hersonissos town centre (pretty busy even right at the end of the season). About 25 mins walk to the left is the more English town of Stalis which is gorgeous and I much preferred it to Hersonissos. Only problem is how much of a hike it is to get to - we had to get a cab back as it was mostly uphill and we were knackered! Then diagonally to the right, again uphill all the way, are three traditional Greek villages which are so pretty I really liked them. You can't say there's not much to explore in the local area - you need to be pretty able bodied though as a lot of walking is involved unless you want to get taxis everywhere. The hotel had a large supermarket opposite, go karting, mini golf, water sports, horse riding... you name it, all on your doorstep. Definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families although I would have difficulty recommending the hotel to people who are intending to cook for themselves - the kitchen area was tiny and very poorly stocked. We had to buy plastic bowls to have cereal ourselves from the supermarket as there weren't any!! If you are intending, like us, though to just have cereal in the morning and a few cups of tea or the like during the day in your room then you won't have a problem. We ate out every night which worked out fine. The only real downside, as with the rest of Greece, is not being able to flush your loo roll down the toilet!!

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in in Greece to date, rooms are very comfortable and extremely clean with maid service each day. Hotel pool facilities are excellent also. Although I would say the man on reception during the day time could do with taking a course in manners or basic customer relations - all other staff are so friendly that this guy stood out as ignorant towards us at least!! Other than that great place especially for kids I'd say.

My partner and I stayed at the Star Beach and it was fantastic. Whether you are single or a couple or a family there is something there for everyone (You can either take it or leave it !). We went horse riding (which was next to the hotel) - ok if you are a novice and just want a plod round ! The go-carts are also next to the hotel and good value for money. The water park is opposite and if you feel energetic then there is plenty to do (or if like us you just wanted to chill then that is fine also). We went self catering as we like to have our cereals in bed in the morning and eat out at different places in the evening. For the first couple of nights though we stayed in the hotel and had our evening meal in the restaurant. It was really nice and good value for money (12 euro for the buffet & the food was hot and good selection). I think i would struggle to cook a meal for tea as the equipment in the room is very minimal but that didnt bother us as we just made a cup of tea really. Staff friendly & couldnt fault the place. A nice restaurant to go to is the italian down by the beach (cant miss it but i cant remeber the name of it) - it has white pillars on the entrance. Would definately return to Star Beach.

This hotel was the best by far we seen in the whole of crete the rooms were lovely and clean the maids cleaned every day. Everything you need is all nearby you do have to walk about ten minites for the real nightlife but that was nothing. I didn't think much of the foam parties across the street at Star Beach Waterpark the people who run that were very arrogant but other than that it was brill and the only bad thing i would say about the hotel was that the man on reception was not very freindly but other than that I would advise to go there maybe not so much for families because of the loud music but it finishes at 12am

Hotel and staff are fantastic! Could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Hotel and amenities are of an excellent standard. Would have no hesitation in returning or recommending the Hotel to anyone wishing to experience a truly relaxing holiday. Gary.

After we had booked this hotel we then read several bad reviews and were concerned about this hotel. However, it was really, really fantastic! OK , there were no cereal bowls in the room, but within 10 minutes of phoning reception someone brought them up to us. The rooms are very good, bathroom spacious, lovely views and we never had any noise from other people during our whole stay. We did go end of May so it may be different later in the season. We stayed there with our 3 year old and it was perfect for her - the toddler pool is sectioned off from the main pool and there is also a play area just next to the pool. The whole place was immaculately clean and the buffet breakfast is a must! I would definitely stay there again.

It was a very nice 4 star hotel close to the beach ,specially dedicate for family with kids,bbut the recpetionist were not helfull at all. One of the days they didnt do the room,no towels clean etc..so the price good but the people bad

This must be the worst hotel I have stayed in , I booked the hotel after reading details for the WaterPark and that it was a hotel for families.On the day of our arrival there was a party at the Waterpark with extremely loud music and we were in the first block opposite the Waterpark entrance. I complained to reception who stated it was only on Saturdays ( I later found out 2 reception staff including the reception manager had lied about this as it's repeated on Wednesday) , so I waited till 12 for the music to stop and then till 2am for the noisy revellers to leave.Every night of our 7 day stay we had other people making a lot of noise early in the morning after returning from clubs.The rooms are small with no sink in our room, so kitchenette is pushing it. The breakfast and dinners are good value for money , if a little repeatitive by the end of the week.The hotel offers Kids club if you wish to have some time on your own.You have to leave a deposit for your TV remote and safe key

Star beach village was nice and friendly but the studio's are a little small if there are 4 people staying there, To be honest I stayed in Tenerife last year in a 3 star which was 10 times better, The first two appartment blocks that we passed were very noisy and had loads of 18/30 party's staying there and was all blasting out load music as if they were in competition, we stayed in the 3rd block and was only about the 3rd lot of english there, crete people was telling us to bring out more english people, German lads was bringging back 24 packs of amstall beer and was telling us to drink with them, although we declined they were all so freindly even though they were all single and we was a family with kids evey one seemed to get on. The open plan studio's are very small and prsonally prefer a separate bedroom as it's very squashy and have to sit on the beds to eat, drink, chat with mates e.t.c. The rooms are very clean though with maids in every day, The buffet style restaurant is a must with a variety of foods and deserts to eat and you go up as much and as many times as you want and includes the deserts with 1 price (FANTASTIC) Star beach is too close for comfort for me with party's on a wen and sun and foam party's in between (very loud). I would not go back to Hersonissos in a hurry although we did enjoy our holiday, and please be reminded we went the main 2 weeks and at the busiest time of year. We were not inpressed by star beach and it was a dissapointment after looking on there web site .It was way to loud. and would reccomend this for 18/30's they would love it, But we wont be going next year or any other year soon,

The first impression of the hotel was of a very high standard, looked modern, clean and just what we were looking for when booking our annual family holiday. From the Star Beach Village Hotel and Waterpark webesite the holiday sounded just what we were looking for, for my partner and our two children. It offered 5* self catering/bed and breakfast occommodation, with "an unforgettable and pleasant stay. It is an ideal place for families, and people seeking rest and relaxation". Unfortunately the accommodation was lacking in basic equipment, i.e. table and chairs - useful when self catering with children!, no cereal bowls, limited number of plates, no sharpe knives, no toaster. During our stay items went missing out of our room, such as cups, and a plug out of the bathroom sink! though we did get these replaced. We arrived at the hotel at around 02.00 in the morning, we were taken to our room - very pleased with what we found - large comfortable rooms. At around 03.00 am we were woken by lots of noise and banging coming from people in the corridor. My partner went to reception to complain about the noise and he was told that this was a problem that the hotel had with the young people who booked holidays with them. Security came and quietened them. At 05.00 am we were woken again with noise from people returning from their night out. This happened in the early hours of our entire 14 day holiday. We complained on numerous occassions but was told that if they moved us to another room we may find the situation even worse. The noise was coming from mainly male 18-30 yr old groups. Out of the 7 self catering blocks every one had large groups of partygoers. Therefore, if you have children or would like a holiday that is relaxing, and would like at least one nights sleep, this isn't the place for you.
