My partner and I went to Caria holiday resort in May 2010. We really enjoyed the holiday. It’s a beautiful resort with a great view of the sea. The staff are very friendly too. Loud music is played throughout the day by the pool which I didn't like to begin with, however... more

I went with my family, 2 adults, 2 children (12 and 15), and I really enjoyed it. There were some minor hiccups at the start of our holiday regarding the lack of towels and bedding, but was sorted out within 24 hrs. The weather was nice, and the food was delicious, although... more

We just got back from two weeks at the Caria yesterday. A group of 3 adults and 4 kids ranging from ages 10 - 14. After having read some really vicious reviews before we left I don't think we knew what to expect. You can't knock the scenery in the entire Sarigerme area.... more

Great if you like climbing 143 steep steps!!!!
I've just got back from spending a week at this hotel with my husband and 2 children 11 and 8, and thought I'd better write a review now before i can't be bothered. Overall it was nice, first impressions were very upsetting especially as the taxi turned off the main road to climb a steep mountain, we were worried about where it was taking us, eventually we got to the hotel reception, which again looked quite dissapointing, however they took us up to the room by shuttle bus, by the time we got our room on 7th street (which means 7th floor) we were very worried as we had 2 young children, the room was very high in the mountian but large, clean but very basic . Not been happy with the location I asked the reception to move us to a lower floor which they did immediately and were very helpful. the food is ok there was a wide variety of dishes, nothing was repeated besides breakfast which was sausages in sauce, chips and scramble eggs with tomato, cereals were good and breads were good. Animation Team was fantastic they really try to get you all involved, pool area is great and clean, although the most shallow part of the pool is 5"3, so quite deep, children had to have floats as kids pool was more of a baby pool so no good. Slides were nice kids loved it, Hotel runs a shutltle bus to take you to the beach, and beach is a blue flag beach and is wonderful. not much in the area besides a market on Sundays but good excursions are available, overall apart fromthe location the hotel was great. Probably won't go there again but as I say its because of the location.
Single parent nightmare
I am a single mother with two teenage girls and went to this hotel for two weeks. It was cheap compared to other holidays so I didn't expect alot. I booked it independently. The reception staff varied; two girls on during the day didn't speak any English, and I really got nowhere with them, particularly when I tried to change our room down to a lower floor. When our taxi didn't arrive to take us to the airport at 3 o'clock in the morning, the man on duty was brilliant: he rang the company many times and offered to pay for a taxi for us! i could have kissed him when it finally arrived. Needless to say we arrived at the airport in the nick of time (the taxi went the wrong way aswell) and we only just got our flight home. Yes the food was awful. We lasted a week. By the seventh day we were bearly eating anything, and I was ill for three days in the second week. This was a problem being so isolated on the top of a mountain, the kids got me water and finally forced some biscuits down me that they'd bought for an extortionate amount from the shop. On the last day we were sunbathing and looked down off the deck area and saw two men filling the water cooler containers with a hose. Maybe this was why I was ill. I felt totally isolated. I try to chat to other English families but they were very rude to a single mother. One woman actually turned her back on me and refused to answer polite chatty conversation. When the kids found friends I read my book alot in the air conditioned reception area on my own. This was where the Russian and German students seemed to hang round. Every night I had to put up with their noise and their unbelievable lack of perception in personal space, I often ended up with a great crowd sat practically ontop of me. The animation crew were ok. The main man was an arrogant German who continually made it obvious that he disliked the English. The entertainment was unusual and frankly poor. But by the second week we were so starved that it seemed quite good. Choo-choo was a star, he really made what was a stream of egocentric drivel something worth watching. Pussycat dolls? not again please... We went scuba-diving with a family who works out of Sarigerme and come to the hotel everyday and gave demonstrations in the pool every Tuesdy and Thursday. It was brilliant! Was the best day we had, very friendly, amazing on the boat amazing under the sea, just mind blowing. Go again? No. I was very ill, very lonely, very hungry. have a good time!
Read this before you book
My partner and our 3 year old son stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks from the 24th June 07. I read the reviews before i booked although there were not many of them written in English the majority of those were not very good reviews. I'll be as helpful as i can as i'm a travel agent myself and like to read an honest review . Firstly the hotel is very high up on a steep mountain side you go up mountain roads and look out of your window and see a sheer drop which is quite scary i thought, the hotel rooms are all very steep all the family rooms are on the lowest level so try to book one of these thet are more expensive but be warned of the hike your face everyday if you don't, its very hard work in temperatures of 45 degrees. The hotel grounds are beautiful, lots of greenery and flowers the room i had was very clean but on 8th street which is a long walk down to reception and the pool area, i aksed if we could move and the guy at reception allowed us to do this for an extra 100 euros for our two week stay which i did not think was a bad price as we were given a family room which is a lot bigger than the twin/double rooms. The town of Sarigerme is very small compared to other resorts but they do have a good market on Sundays, there are no cash machines in sarigeme the closest cash machines are in Ortaca which takes 30 mins on a dolmus and costs £1.00 each way. I would not take euros again i would take the new turkish lira as this is the cahnge you get no matter what currency you pay in, they will take sterling, euros or lira. The hotel was mainly full of russian, german, belgian, french and then English people in that order. If you want a drink from the bar don't wait for a waiter to serve you, just shout your order at them as this is what the german and russian guests did and they always get served first, i don't think they understand the concept of queing like us English do. The food at the hotel was not very good, i didn't go to Turkey for English food but a bit of Turkish food would have been nice, no baclava no kebabs maybe i'm wrong but i thought they were Turkish foods. If you are the kind of person who will eat anything you will be fine here, i do not like eating meat that looks like cat poo in sauce, it could have been cat poo for all i know cos there is no labelling of the food. A few English people complained to the manager about the food and i must admit they did try, so do have a word if you go their and they've gone back to serving crap. Breakfast is continental lots of different bread, franfurters and chips i think they put those out for the English even though a lot of people told them English people do not eat chips for breakfast. The breakfast is same every morning. Snack time is rubbish unless you can eat salad every day for a snack personally i got bored of salad as i seemed to be eating for lunch, snack and dinner, there are no pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, just salad, chips and dry pasta. We ate out quite a lot on that holiday and eating out is sooo cheap i kinda wish i had gone bb to another hotel. Do be prepared for the expense at Dalaman airport if you have never been before, our eyes lit up when we saw Mcdonalds and Kfc not that their great but they are a lot better than any of the meals i ate at the hotel. We decided against getting either at the airport though as the price of any extra valu meal is 15 euros! a litre bollte of Smirnoff vodka from the duty free shop was one euro cheaper than this at 14 euros, its crazy!! But people were still buying meals there we could'nt belive it we waited till we got back to Gatwick. The flight home from Turkey with Onur Air was terrible the cabin was almost as hot as Turkey itself, i asked at least five times for the cabin crew to ask the captain to sort out the temperature they did nothing, everyone was sweating made that four hour flight so uncomfortable. Overall, if you are fit and healthy, will eat anything, don't mind being surrounded by russians and germans who are so rude, and just want a cheap holiday, stay at this hotel but do not be fooled into thinking it can't be that bad like i did, as i say you will only eat if you like everything like liver, cats poo, salad and everthing else covered in chesses sauce oh and everything from last nights dinner is made into a new dish for the next days lunch, it is a shame about the food because as i say its a lovely looking hotel but again do not stay here if you are afraid of heights. Stay at the Iberotel or the holiday village if you fancy Sarigerme we met a lot of English from these hotels and they said their hotels were brilliant, they are a lot dearer than the Caria though. I hope this review helps.
Not very accomodating for british
We had booked this hotel along with flights from a website called on the beach .com, after booking we then found all these reviews which in fact did put me off, we tried to change hotel but to no avail, so we thought oh well lets make the most of a bad situation , it cannot be as bad as people are writing as us brits love to moan!!!!!!! Well on arrival we were greeted by a very helpful manager who was very accomodating when after being put on the 6th st (up high in the mountains) with a 3yr old in tow and only two beds in our room, he instantly changed our room, still high up but we were told not to worry we could change the next day.... The manager on day duty is very rude and literally just laughs at you , however we did finally manage to get to the 4th floor at midnight after several phone calls to reception re our central heating ... that was the start of the holiday, The rooms are very clean and cannot complain about that, the pool area again is very clean the bar staff ignore you unless you russian turkish or german, they just seem to look through the english and when questioned about this they just shrug ... Food, now if you like basic , salads, salads, congealed rice, chips , liver which was almost daily and anything else in a cheese sauce then you will be fine , but i must say the staff in the restuarant are very helpful and they did try their best .... As for the entertainment , it cannot be understood as they speak it all in another language and it can get very close to being for adults only !!!! yet they are children in the audience..... The scenery is beautiful , but one thing i would say is that , take plenty of travellers cheques ofrmoney as the nearest cashpoint is about 50 mins by car , Apart from that not a bad hotel i wouldnt go back but i did enjoy the week on the whole, its not as bad as a lot of people have wrote before and they have changed management this year as well so it has probably improved slightly, but brits be warned if you dont like german or russian based hotels
Interesting holiday
My friend and I stayed for two weeks in September 2006, we were one of the first British visitors there. Being both women and in our early 30's we had to prove that not all british women have a reputation. Our rep Omar was extremely creepy and could basically not care about his job which started off out holiday in a cautious way as he was clearly there for the drugs. The animation team made our holiday they made us feel part of the family, and even though they were always high on drugs not once did they try to push it upon us, in our opinion they make the complex what it is - a fun place as long as you are willing to make the effort and speak first. The locals tend to speak German more than Turkish, luckily I can speak German so could always understand what was being spoken about us, I didn't let on until we left that I spoke German so their faces were a treat, and this made them understand how we always did the oposite to what they were expecting us to do. They were not being rude about us but were having bets to see who would be the first to 'bag us'. They are all womanisers but my friend and I found this quite amusing. There is a small club which the animation team took us to, and well I came away as high as a kite from breathing in all of the narcotic fumes, good music though. The complex is a fitness challenge, the rooms are all on different layers up the mountain and if you are put in a room towards the top you know about it at the end of your stay as you will be more physically toned. Our first room was disgusting and it took 2 days for us to recieve a new room. The food is interesting, they cater for the Russians and Germans - do they not eat vegetables? There is not a lot of alcoholic choice even if you want to pay for the non-local products. The swimming pool is extremely clean along with the complex, however the rooms could really do with a make over, they are very basic - try to get a studio as they are larger. WARNING watch out for the ants!! There really is nothing near to the complex so if all you want is a relaxing time and a tan then this is the place for you.
british couples steer clear too many good hotels around to use this one
A russian owned hotel only recently started to receive british guests with lovely views and.................er...........er.......er ...not a lot else going for it rooms clean could do with updating, staff in need of customer service training ( their outlook is very surley and unhelpful) and basic english course, to be at least a little helpful. we stayed sept thankfully for only one week , well 4 days really as we moved out for 3 days to relieve the bordom and be able to communicate with others. It is an Ideal place if you are up for playing cards by 8pm.The mountainside it sits on is very steep and as no taxis are allowed past reception it is a real hike to your room and there are many steps around not recomended for even half fit people really especially if it happens to rain as they are all marble. The only good thing is the animation team who we never actualy saw preform as we were not informed that they did their show in another part of the complex , and as there was no information in the hotel in english at all and very few english guests who were all in the same boat because af lack of information regarding facilities , places of interest, and generally how to get around the surroundings.Maby it will improve over the next few years but I would not recomend in 2007.
Great views
One of the few hotels in Sarigerme village near Dalaman airport and obviously the cheapest. The main problem of the hotel is that it is far from the beach and you have to use special shuttle that is running not always on time. The restaurant is okay, staff can be better, animation team great. Rooms definetely need to be renovated. Still the views from the rooms are magnificent - clear blue sky, turquoise sea, green mountain slopes...
Trust me do not stay here
We booked this as a timeshare exchange. I agree with the previous reviewer 100% - Caria is VERY steep so really hard to get around even from reception to your room. The hotel looks nice from the exterior but our room smelled musty and was more like a hostel, the bed was really hard and the curtains were covered in stains. Caria was totally unsuitable for guests not on the all-inclusive package (and in the opinion of other guests the food was awful too). Sarigerme has a population of just 150 and it pretty much shuts down at night. There are only a couple of cafes and shops but you can book tours from here. Most of the hotels seem to be all-inclusive and cater perdominantly for German tourists - hence if you need to communicate with the locals you need a smattering of German.
Best Holiday Ever
We have just come back from this hotel there was 6 of us. We all had a fantastic time!! On site there was a small aqua park open for 4 hours a day, activities every hour by the pool eg. table tennis, darts and water polo and a small night club open 12 - 3am all these services were included in our all inclusive!! There was also a free shuttle service down to the beach every 30 mins and a free bus to the small town and market on an evening. The animation team there were fantastic, friendly and remembered everyones name! We are going back next year. The only down side was alot of steps.
Caria Holiday Resort -- Dont Go To This Place
Although I did not enjoy my time at this resort I have tried to keep this review as constructive and helpful as possible for those reading. My Family and I are very well travelled around Europe, The Middle East and the USA. This resort is advertised as 4star. Please do not expect this at all as you will be incredibly let down. Think of this hotel as a 2 star with some nice facilities for a 2 star property. I booked this holiday through the internet via telext/ceefax pages and the cost including taxes was £339 for a week fully inclusive... The food is not at all suitable for english tourists. The main core of clients to this resort are russian and german and just about everything is catered for them. Many of you may feel umpleasant at the way you are treated here for being english as you will definately not be treated the same as the russian and german tourists which can, at times, be quite intimidating and very frustrating. The food is awful, very very bad and quite often the day befores leftovers are served for the following days breakfast and lunch. The only drinks that your all inclusive will include will be vodka and raki (aniseed spirit), local beer, fizzy drinks such as coke and fanta and thats it.......you will have to pay for everything else! The resort is literally 'on the side' of a large mountain so expact an unpleasant hike to and from your accomodation and to the limited facilites which only are avaiable at limited times such as the aquapark which is only open for one hour a day. There are also a LOT of biting insects here at this area. You are also not near any attractions or any historical monuments or any ports. You are just kind of stuck in the same place unless you are willing to begin your day with a 2 hour travel. I would not recomend this resort or hotel to anyone, howver, I will leave you to come to your own conclusions.
