My daughter and I have just returned from a four night holiday at the Hotel Karos in Brugges.
We were quite worried after reading past review's and did not know if the hotel would be ok.
We were prepared for the 'Quirky' and it was!
Our room was in a new wing at the rear and although we had no view it was quiet.
The room was fine apart from the dust, it was everywhere, and I do not think the maids had heard of a duster or polish!
The breakfast was fine with plenty to eat but the grubby tablecloths had a real 'put you off your meal' feel. There were no coffee making facility, you could not use the mini fridge to cool water etc unless you paid 5 Euros a day, and there was no safe. Very poor.
We did enjoy our break and if you are not too fussy this hotel is only 20 mins walk from the main square, which is great.
Brugges is lovely!!

Good hotel, 10 mins walk from the main square. Clean and comfy. Breakfast was included and very nice - bar prices very good.
Has BBC and MTV on the TV channels and a nice pool - although you have to pay for the sauna.
Staff were very nice, and you are able to leave your cases after you check out. Only 15 mins walk to the station - but if you get a cab its 7 Euros.
Would definitely recommend if you were to visit Bruges.

Welcomed with fresh orange juice. room spotless and television and mini bar welcoming. Staff polite, decor unique and sometimes eccentric!
Breakfast plentiful and enjoyable, good choice overall. Close to centre of Bruges and cafes supplying delicious and good value food. Swimming pool is appealing, and bar area is cozy, with fresh orange squeezed at the bar and coffee and snacks also available.
Wanted to write a positive report as others did not match with the experience of our party on this occasion.

Bruges beautiful friendly olde worldy place.
Hotel worse than a 2 star. Breakfast disgraceful greasy bacon and burnt stale scrambled eggs. Not able to poach an egg.
Clearly the paperwork said a double room was given a room with twin beds. Asked to change in the morning. Moved to a tiny room that stank of smoke. Then moved to a tinier room with a double bed.
Never again.
