Royal Tenerife Country Club Reviews
" We stayed in this complex for one... "
Submitted By: Mr F McGurkand we booked a day at the aqualand park which was great and the dolphins and their trainers were amazing. We also had a day of golfing for me and my ten year old at the adjoining course where we hired everything required but the only snag was they did not have a junior set of clubs for hire and he tried a ladies set but it was not too successful. we only managed nine holes before he gave up but i would have liked to do the 18. The rest of the holiday was spent at the pool through the day and in the evening we went to the square at San Blas which is a ten minute walk down and back up. Their is entertainment every night whilst you have your meal and about ten or twelve restuarants to choose from. The only bad food we had was at the sports bar at the upper section and we only went there to watch the football. The apartment we had was great with all mod cons jacuzzi, dishwasher, microwave, flatscreen TV,huge bed and two toilets. The balcony had two loungers and a table and chairs and a lovely view of the airport which after a while you forget it is there. The pool bar staff were great (Jose the elder gentleman was lovely but the younger boy did not smile much) and the food and drink was excellent. There is also a pool guard who walks about all day checking that things are okay. The main pool is fantastic and my son was never out of it. There is also a smaller childrens pool which is great and some of the water activity organised by the entertainment guy (Alex) is done there. There is not much entertainment, just daily quizes and bingo if you like that sort of thing. The on site resturant is Bacchus but this has been closed but the food at the pool is all thats required. There is another place just outside the complex adjacent to the front door (Cafe Med) where the food was nice but the staff were quite abrupt but i spoke to other people who had eaten there and they had no complaints so we might have got him on a bad day. There is also a supermarket on site which was very handy and had everything you might need. There is also a gym and laundry in the basement. We used the laundry but not the gym. There is also security guards who sit at the entrance to the complex every night and we always had a chat with Luis who was really nice and helpful. This is an ideal holiday to relax and is more suited to couples or families, it's definitely not for those looking for wild nights. We did not hire a car and walked everywhere but that might not suit everyone.

Submitted By: Mrs S HoneymanThe resort itself is quiet and ideal for families or couples wanting a quiet holiday. The staff are very friendly and the family who run the pool bar are lovely, very friendly and offer very good food. Do not try Bacchaus Restaurant. It is run independently of the resort depite being next to reception and the food was appalling. We unfortunately tried it on our last night and bitterly regretted it. The owner was extremely rude when we complained about the poor quality food (frozen with insects crawling on the plates). We reported the matter to reception who were very understanding. They told us they never recommend the restaurant to guests. It should have been obvious it was poor as there was only one other family in the restaurant! You have been warned!...
Nevertheless, I would recommend the resort and overall we had a great holiday. We hired a car and ventured into Los Cristianos which has a nice beech and good cafes. My parents tell me that it is well worth exploring the island but with little ones we opted for a chill out week - by the pool!

Submitted By: Miss H PearceThe pool area was wonderful, a lovely swimming pool, with a seperate pool for kiddies and a heated pool as well. It was quite quiet on our first week, and we were probably the youngest couple there at 26 and 29 as most visitors are families with children or couples golfing.
We had hired a car for the whole two weeks, and got a good deal by pre booking online before we left for Tenerife. This was really handy for us, as we wanted to do a lot of exploring. We found that it was much better to go out and make your own fun as the Sunterra organised trips were quite expensive. The Island has a lot to offer and could really do with being re-marketed. There is more to the island than Las Americas and Los Christianos.
I would thouroughly recomend whale and dolphin watching. You can do a very well run 1hr trip in Los Gigantes for 15 euro on a small speed boat with room for 12 or so people, rather than a Pirate ship style event with food and drink, the smaller boat was much more personal, and you feel like you are a lot closer to the sea life, it was great.
On the days that we decided to chill out by the pool there were sunbeds and a very peacefull chilled out atmosphere. The pool bar is run by a really nice Puruvian family who are all very sweet, I can also recommend a meal at the pool bar in the evening, they offer wonderful Puruvian specialities that need to be ordered the day before because of the time taken over marinating the food, but also they do a very good steak in the evening.
I would recomend the food at the pool bar "El Inti" over whats offered in the restaurant Bacchus.... very poor indeed, there is never any body in there, and so all the food is frozen, we found it over cooked and over priced. The setting its quite nice outside the restaurant however and so is a good place to have a few drinks in the evening.
There is a local resort you can walk to in daylight but you will need 10 euro for the taxi back. It is called Los Abrigos, and there are a number of excellent restaurants there serving extreamly fresh and well priced sea food. We had quite a few meals at the Rest Los Abrigos and the one next door, both at the end of the strip of restaurants facing the port.
It was a lovely holiday we are both thouroughly chilled out, I would recomend highering a car just for the trips and things really. You wont be disappointed with the resort!
" Well what can I say about this place?... "
Submitted By: Miss S E SpencerIt’s more of a family resort and perfect for someone seeking a relaxing peaceful holiday, but the night life in playa da las Americas is only a 15 minute taxi ride away.
The staff couldn't do enough to help and were at our beck and call 24/7.
I then returned in 2004, slightly older and slightly wiser and found the resort to be of even better standards (I didn't think this was possible).
We visited the Loro (parrot) park, went on boat trips to see the dolphins, and even attended a medieval banquet!! My memories of that night will never leave me!
It was a fabulous holiday. The rooms are to die for, clean, comfortable, with fresh bedding 6 times a week.
Needless to say I was very pleased with the Royal Tenerife Country Club that much so that I now have a week booked for September this year with my fiancé and my 2 year old son. I know we will be looked after and that’s what counts when planning a holiday.
I would highly recommend this picturesque little 'village' to anybody. Young or old, families or young people just wanting a week away topping up their tans and parting!
Can’t wait to go back!

Submitted By: Mrs A TretheweyYou can be discreet and do your own thing or like my husband, myself and our 2 friends, join in the many activities the young Sunterra rep Bradley tried to organise. You can relax by the beautiful pool, walk a 15 min stroll to local shops and restaurants at san blas, and (taxi 4 Euros back up the hill.)
Or catch the local bus to los Cristianos, to the local markets or if you are braver than me, use the local taxi service...bit cheaper if booked through reception.
We found the jewel of the rtcc unfortunately on our last night. Cafe med... The food is stunning very reasonably priced and so is the beer, the service is impeccable and welcoming.
Unfortunately the other bars/restaurants do not have that same welcoming appeal. The snacks at the pool bar and their (9 euro) 3 course evening meal and big breakfast (5 euro) are well worth having. We were disappointed by the atmosphere some staff friendlier than others.
We will definitely return to the rtcc we met some great people whom I’m sure we will keep in contact with.
Both men in my party are Cornish and they are hard to please so it must have been good.
We wish Kevin, Danny and Bradley all the best for the future and thank them for making my husband’s first trip abroad a success, the only problem with that is they have to put up with us again.....if this review helps you to decide to visit and Bradley is still there, tell him the freedom fighters of Cornwall send their love.. Submitted By: Mr S MorrisOn arrival (late evening) with hire car found out that we would have to pay for the privilege of parking our hire car within the resort. Initially allocated 2 bed apartment had an odour similar to that of smelly drains and also was at the extreme far end of the resort which will be totally unsuitable for holidaymakers with health issues. To give the reception staff their due they were very helpful and suggested that we just use the apartment to sleep that night and they would find an alternative the following morning which they duly did, offering us a choice of three.
Another thing to bear in mind is take your own pool towels - whilst we were quite happy to pay a refundable deposit we did not actually expect to have to pay a weekly rental for usage of these as well.
Found that a majority of the British owned restaurants in the nearby shopping village served poorly prepared and quite often barely hot food and had a "take it or leave it" attitude.
The resort in itself is generally well maintained and there was evidence of ongoing maintenance work while we were there. What was annoying though was building work that was ongoing in nearby privately owned apartments. One downside is the lack of toilet facilities near the pool which meant those in reception were over used and quite often out of order.
Whilst the resort staff were very helpful and friendly and also those in the privately run pool snack bar, this is not a resort we would recommend to anyone. In fact its only saving grace was the nearness of the golf courses although the maintenance of these left a lot to be desired - obviously due to the continuous use they endure with little recovery time built in - In fact some of the greens resembled patchwork quilts.

Submitted By: Mr B MacDonaldThe room and general facilities were very clean. It was also quite peaceful and relaxing -No loud music etc. Ideal for families.
The negatives were - building works going on meant that the pool was not available and they never told us about this.
Also the resort is quite far away from everything, so you need a car. The resort would be fantastic for golfers. It is situated quite near the main course.
I thought the planes would bother us being so near the airport, but they did not.
Lastly the instructions to get there were very poor. It should have been a 10 minute journey but it took about an hour as the instructions were really not clear. I also heard one other person took 3 hours to find the place!
I would go back again, I did enjoy it.

Submitted By: petershirkieArrival at the resort not very pleasing from south Tenerife airport. Taxi from airport, driver did not know resort. We were not told the resort is better known as San Andreas.
That sorted we duly arrived 26-01-2007. When we first booked the accommodation, we were informed the pool would be closed for maintenance. We did not expect to find major renovation and building work in progress.
The main pool area and pool was being redesigned. We could find only one public toilet on the resort open. One ladies and one gents. There were no toilet facilities in the restaurant called Baccus, or in the Med Café. The temporary pool side bar/snack bar, like wise.
The toilets situated in reception were used not only used by the public, but by staff of the above mentioned eating/drinking establishments. There was no hot water or hand drying facilities providid and the electric dryers were not working. Not very hygenic by any standards.
My wife and I could not recommend this resort to anyone in its present state. The building work is due to finish sometime in March 2007. We will not be staying in this resort agin.

Submitted By: Mr M WildPlane noise wasn't a problem, if truth be told, mind you, I sleep with earplugs anyway. San Blas shopping centre, a big Netto, a decent selection of shops and restaurants complete with 70s-styled 'entertainment', the big outdoor one in the main square, is about 15 mins walk away.
Walk down to the sea front and turn left - you're faced with a bit of a trek to Los Abrigos but the fish restaurants are well worth it. Turn right and you're on the path that follows the sea (and the odd nudist), eventually bringing you out at a much smaller parade of shops, restaurants etc.
We'd hired a car, a must, so went all over - Mount Teide, Los Christianos, Loro Parque (excellent). Weather was fine, bit cloudy most days but very warm when the sun broke through. Did the Pirates night, which was a bit pricey at 50 euros, but this paid for your food and drinks.
Overall - excellent. Would definitely go back to the resort again.

Submitted By: J TalbotWe found the car hire on the resort very reasonable also offering discounts on water park and jungle park mentioned below which was amazing.
The best place we have ever been too and if you do hire a car we recommend that on a cloudy day (and there are many but still warm) that you drive up to Mount Teide and look down on the most unbelievable site of the clouds below you, so amazing even the kids were impressed! The only reason I have give this a 9 instead of a 10 is the need to hire a car otherwise, enjoy.

This resort is ideal for golfers, parents with older childern (mine are 3 and 9 and were too young for the events organised) and anyone who just wants to spend allday around the pool. With younger children there is not enough to keep them amused on the resort or in San Blas. If you like to get out and see the sights this resort is good for this a it is not far from the motorway.
Overall we had a good holiday here and the resort is very good, but probably not the best place for our needs.
