Feb 2007, Mr B MacDonald

I was pleased with the resort. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room and general facilities were very clean. It was also quite peaceful and relaxing -No loud music etc. Ideal for families.
The negatives were - building works going on meant that the pool was not available and they never told us about this.
Also the resort is quite far away from everything, so you need a car. The resort would be fantastic for golfers. It is situated quite near the main course.
I thought the planes would bother us being so near the airport, but they did not.
Lastly the instructions to get there were very poor. It should have been a 10 minute journey but it took about an hour as the instructions were really not clear. I also heard one other person took 3 hours to find the place!
I would go back again, I did enjoy it.

Accommodation excellent, as was the cleanliness of the one bedroom apartment.
Arrival at the resort not very pleasing from south Tenerife airport. Taxi from airport, driver did not know resort. We were not told the resort is better known as San Andreas.
That sorted we duly arrived 26-01-2007. When we first booked the accommodation, we were informed the pool would be closed for maintenance. We did not expect to find major renovation and building work in progress.
The main pool area and pool was being redesigned. We could find only one public toilet on the resort open. One ladies and one gents. There were no toilet facilities in the restaurant called Baccus, or in the Med Café. The temporary pool side bar/snack bar, like wise.
The toilets situated in reception were used not only used by the public, but by staff of the above mentioned eating/drinking establishments. There was no hot water or hand drying facilities providid and the electric dryers were not working. Not very hygenic by any standards.
My wife and I could not recommend this resort to anyone in its present state. The building work is due to finish sometime in March 2007. We will not be staying in this resort agin.

Nov 2006, Mr M Wild

Very highly recommended. We (I, my wife, her sister and her b/f) stayed in a two-bed, two bathroom apartment with views across to Mount Teide on the left and the airport on the right.
Plane noise wasn't a problem, if truth be told, mind you, I sleep with earplugs anyway. San Blas shopping centre, a big Netto, a decent selection of shops and restaurants complete with 70s-styled 'entertainment', the big outdoor one in the main square, is about 15 mins walk away.
Walk down to the sea front and turn left - you're faced with a bit of a trek to Los Abrigos but the fish restaurants are well worth it. Turn right and you're on the path that follows the sea (and the odd nudist), eventually bringing you out at a much smaller parade of shops, restaurants etc.
We'd hired a car, a must, so went all over - Mount Teide, Los Christianos, Loro Parque (excellent). Weather was fine, bit cloudy most days but very warm when the sun broke through. Did the Pirates night, which was a bit pricey at 50 euros, but this paid for your food and drinks.
Overall - excellent. Would definitely go back to the resort again.

Absolutely loved this holiday! Resort beautiful, staff very friendly and helpful and very, very clean. You definitely need a car unless you are happy to stay on site.
We found the car hire on the resort very reasonable also offering discounts on water park and jungle park mentioned below which was amazing.
The best place we have ever been too and if you do hire a car we recommend that on a cloudy day (and there are many but still warm) that you drive up to Mount Teide and look down on the most unbelievable site of the clouds below you, so amazing even the kids were impressed! The only reason I have give this a 9 instead of a 10 is the need to hire a car otherwise, enjoy.

Just returned from our fourth visit...

Jul 2006, Mrs W Gill

Just returned from our fourth visit to Golf Del Sur. The accommodation at the Country Club was spacious, well equipped with plenty of usable living space. We had two beds, two-bathroom apartment and included a fully equipped kitchen and Jacuzzi in main bathroom.
On the patio were a shower and BBQ with space for table, 6 chairs and 2 sun loungers. The apartment was cleaned every day with sheets changed during the week we were there. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The complex includes several restaurants, a small shop and large meandering pool complete with palm trees and bridges.
There was some entertainment provided for the children, but this was quite limited and didn't always run to timetable. Our only minor criticism is that the complex is beginning to look tired and needs a fresh lick of paint.

Jun 2006, Miss T .C Houghton

I came to Royal Golf del Sur country club in May 2006. I was breath taken by the quality of the club. This was my first holiday abroad, I’d definitely go back. As we arrived we were greeted in a very welcoming manor.
We knew very little Spanish, yet every one was so helpful and had good English language skills. I would recommend renting a car to go sight seeing, also the prices were amazing. We visited (Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje and Las Americas.) We went to the jungle park which were amazing, there was a live bird show on, the birds flew so close to are heads it was a once in a life time experience. Back at our resort there was a beautiful swimming pool, surrounded by palm tree's. It was so relaxing.
Also the golfing area was walking distance and what a great view. Every one we spoke to who were also away there on holiday found it very pleasant. I would definitely recommend, doing your research and flying over there. Truly Thankful, Toni.

I have to firstly disagree with the previous comment on this resort its beautiful and if you are prepared to use your legs there are many gorgeous sights to see you can walk into Los Abrigos along the sea front which has recently been improved to provide a lovely walk way. The square has a number of various eating places from English, Italians, Chinese and Indians and many more. The apartment was amazing and cleaned every other day.
I would just finish on saying if you want a relaxing holiday with various things to do this is for you a holiday is what you make it. You can drive around in a car in England.

Our stay was in a one bedroom...

Sep 2005, Mrs H Elphick

Our stay was in a one bedroom apartment, which was very well appointed with comfortable furniture and a full kitchen with dishwasher, toaster, full oven and hob, fridge and freezer. The bathroom was appointed to the highest standard and all very clean.
The complex as a whole was fine and the pool was excellent. In general the complex was not as luxurious as we had expected and we were somewhat disappointed that the pool bar was closed for the week we were there (due to personal reasons of the staff). The grocery store on site is fine for essentials but if you are intending to cook at all in the apartment you would need to find a larger supermarket.
The complex is about a 15 minute walk or 4 euro taxi ride from San Blas where there is a slightly larger grocery store and some restaurants and bars however they all seemed very British and we preferred to eat in the very good restaurant at the RTG & CC. The food is certainly more expensive than in the bars and restaurants of San Blas but offered a more exclusive environment and we found it to be good value.
The close proximity of the airport was a problem on the first night (Friday) as it was very busy but we soon got used to the planes and they did not really bother us again.
We did not hire a car which was a mistake and would recommend anyone staying here should arrange car hire.
Overall the complex is great if you want to just lay by the pool and relax but if you are looking for quaint restaurants and culture you may struggle to find it in this area. The accommodation is of an excellent standard and the staff very friendly.

Accommodation was of a very high...

Jul 2004, jaggyallan

Accommodation was of a very high standard compared to other holiday apartments that I have been to. As standard there was a fridge freezer, Microwave, Jacuzzi, (free) air conditioning and various other kitchen utensils (e.g. toaster).
The resort consisted of various two, three apartment villas, which could be hired out at either the resort or private purchasers. Tennis court and squash court was available on site along with the usual pool bar etc there was also an excellent restaurant within the complex.
Also within easy walking distance was a golf course.
Gulf del Sur is approximately five minutes away from Tenerife south Airport and is slightly more exposed to winds from the Sahara dessert than other more popular resorts. However although the winds where at sometimes high this did have a cooling effect on the high temperatures that can be reached in Tenerife.
Poolside entertainment was non existent but the Sunterra rep did run various activities throughout the week for both children and adults alike (go karting, Scuba diving etc).
Local entertainment took place at San Blas Square where there was numerous bars and eating-places. All of which offered good value for money and was approx 4 euros from the complex. Los Christianos and Playa de las Americas would have been approx 15 taxi drive away.
All in all a good relaxing holiday, hotel staff excellent, accommodation excellent.
