Fabulous & beautiful hotel!
from Tulip
We got married at the Rendezvous late March and had the most amazing time there. The hotel and grounds are like a dream, the beach and gardens picture perfect. The transfer to the hotel is about 1 hour and is a long journey after the flight. the roads are very bumpy and would definitely recommend taking the helicopter transfer if you can afford it. When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by several staff who take your bags to your room and give you a cool rum punch and cold towel which was just lovely. We stayed in a Verandah room which is gorgeous and just like the pictures. There is fresh flowers in your room and bathroom on arrival and the balcony is really big and very well furnished.....perfect for relaxing on! The hotel provide an iron and board however I would suggest that you bring your own travel iron as I discovered when I tried to iron our wedding outfits that the lead on the iron is only about 3 foot long!! Our wedding was perfect and a dream come true. I would though suggest to any wedding couples that you check and double check your arrangements with the Wedding Co-Ordinator or the Assistant. We were being looked after by the Assistant and although she was pleasant she wasn't quite on the ball but I should say that nothing actually went wrong. We were very impressed with our wedding cake and flowers and the hotel also presented us on the day with commemorative champagne flutes engraved with our names and date as well as decorating our bed with flowers. Our pictures and DVD turned out really well and the photographer gives you the negatives. The hotel holds a cocktail night for the wedding couples which is a nice touch. The hotel is small and intimate and the gardens are so lush and green. There are double sized hammocks dotted around the gardens which are great. The beach is gorgeous too and the staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful. There are loads of daily activities if you want to take part but there is no pressure from the staff, you are left to it if you just want to chill out by the pool. The hotel also has a gym which is well equipped. The beach is never overcrowded and guests are given a flag to put into the sand when they want a drink from the bar, there is also a water cooler on the beach and the cocktail selection at the bars is fab! There is a cemetary down the beach to the left but this was in no way intrusive and you would not just stumble into it. Also the planes that flew overhead were never a problem to us, you could hear them as the airport was very close but the noise was only for a few seconds and that was all. A previous reviewer mentioned "barbed" wire on the beach, we honestly did not see any barbed wire, there was however a patch of wire for about 5 yards covering some loose rocks, no big deal. The terrace bar has the most perfect location right on the beach and you can watch some amazing sunsets from there. The choice of drinks is superb and the wine bottles are left on the bar so that you can help yourself! The terrace buffet restaurant is really good with a great choice of food (even healthy options) and the staff are excellent. The Trysting Restaurant wasn't quite as enjoyable, the food was good but the service didn't compare to that of the terrace and the atmosphere was very subdued and dull. All in all, we had a fantastic time at the hotel and would definitely recommend it, we really loved our stay there and can't wait to go back again. We couldn't have chosen a better place to get married. Nathan & Sharon.
One of the best times of my life

My boyfriend and I spent March 27th - April 3rd 2004 at the Rendezvous. I thought the place was just wonderful. It was very well taken care of. The staff was excellent, especially Alva and Ashley at the Terrace bar. There wasn't anything the staff wouldn't do for you. The food was great with lots of choices. The scuba diving was fabulous. Something I have always wanted to try and for it to be included was great. We stayed in the ocean front cottages. I thought it was beautiful. My boyfriend was a little dissappointed. He thought it would be better then it was. We got a pass and went to Le Sport one day. The only good thing I liked about that place was the snorkeling. The beach wasn't as good, the food wasn't as good and the staff wasn't as friendly or on top of things as at the Rendezvous. I highly recommend the Rendezvous to everyone. We landed at the airport next to the resort so it was a great 55 second cab trip. The planes didn't bother us one bit. We used the 7:30 AM plane as our wake up call to get up and get the day started. So everyone has their own opinion about things and that depends on a persons attitude and personality as to what they like and don't like. I just loved this place and I loved the island. We took a cab into Castries one day and my boyfriend left his wallet in the cab ride back to the resort. That cab driver tracked us down and returned the wallet to him with everything inside. What a wonderful thing to do. Cheers to a honest man. The resort had enough security. You really can't leave the property beach lines because we were told it's dangerous but that was ok. There is a combination safe in the room so your valuables are safe. There is a cemetary on one side of the resort but it's no big deal. It is very interesting. I recommend the land and sea trip. It's a jeep ride and then a catamaran back up the coast line. The jeep ride is fast and curvy so take some motion sickness medicine if you get that way. Hopefully you will get Robert as your tour guide. He is wonderful. There were some vendors on the resort property but they don't bother you. We dealt with George, he was very helpful and nice to us and will custom make you some jewerly. Tell him Hi if you get to meet him. The grounds of the resort were beautiful. Very well taken care of. I give the Rendezvous and St Lucia rave reviews and will be glad to come back some day.
renewal of marriage,mind&spiret

we have been to many islands & mexico over 30 years of marriage. the rendezvous resort was a class act all the way. the staffwere kind, friendly, sincere, nothing was to much to ask for. we came for our 30th. anniversity to renew our voes and they took care of everything. fruit basket, and fresh flowers came to the room, plus lots of champine. out on the beach a trellace covered in tropical flowerswas set up for te vows. this was all included in our trip at no extracharge. the gardens at the resort are beautiful. they brought the rain forrest to the beach. 7 achers of exotic flowers, ferns, wild bamboo& about 15 different palm spiecs.the white sand beach was wideand about 2 miles long very clean. each morning the gardeners rake it and set up a ice water station, so no need for bottle water. palms & tiki huts give plenty of shade, &bar service to your beach chair from 10.00am to 6.00pm take care of yor thurst. nites are filled with well done stage shows, live bands, and beach fire eaters, limbo dancers, ect. a must do is go to the lite tropical gardens and lay in one of the double hammocks to star watch, very romantic. days have plenty to do ,but they do not bug you if you just want to relax. the resort offers an exchange program with the le sport hotel, great snorkling just off that beach. everything about the rendezvous resort leaves us with much regaurd for all the great time we had, & we willbe back for more tlc. tom &SUE

My boyfriend and I took our trip on March 21, 2004 to March 28, 2004. No rain at all. It was a Blessing. When we got to Hewanorra Airport we took the helicopter to Castries and landed at the Vigie Airport, which is no less than 5 minutes away from the resort. You do hear the planes from time to time but its no biggie. The resort is soo lush and the grounds are kept clean and the plant life is beautiful. We booked a Verandah Suite and it looked just like the picture on the website. It was lovely and there is no reason to pay extra when these rooms are just as beautiful as the others but stay away from the Cottages because the vendors hang around them since there a little more off than the rest of the rooms on the resort. Our room was always cleaned everytime we came back from the beach Great Maid Service. The staff was amazingly accommadating, kind, sweet, attentive, and friendly. I have never seen such a work ethic before. Nothing is ever too much and everyone, down to the bartenders to the activity coordinators were so involved in making sure you enjoyed yourself. Shout Out to Junior, Ash, Alvin, and the woman who bartended at the Pool Bar while we were there. They were extreeeeeeeeemely nice. The resort is not that big but it sure is beautiful and you can never find service like this nowhere else. The water is beautiful and the sand is gold. Get up early and put your towel on the beach chairs to hold them cause they go quick. The beach is not private but you only really see locals on Sundays. Remember it is there beach your just visiting. There is a cemetery but its alllllllllll the way down from the beach and it's not spooky or anything. It's quite nice actually. Theres alot of people from the UK at the resort visiting but they were all nice. The only negative is the night entertainment. I think they stress too much on the romantic ambiance. They had a band almost everynight and they mostly played love songs. It would be nice if they designated at least one night for music that could be DJ'd so everyone could cut the rug and get a little loose. Otherwise my boyfriend and I had a great time and I would love to go again someday.
Excellent holiday
from simontrnt
We could not fault the hotel or location of this resort. The staff are EXCELLENT and very friendly which makes for a very fun holiday. We read the reviews about this resort before we booked and people complained about the airport being very close. I must admit I thought the worst when woken up on our first morning at 6am, after that I was never woken again by the noise. Yes they do take off during the day over the top of the hotel but it does not really bother you at all and they are only small planes. Also the room we booked was a Verandah Suite which I would recommend. Great clean large room with a great balcony and views of the gardens which are kept immaculatey clean. The pool area's are good and the beach is very good also. I tried lots of watersports and seemed to have them to myself has not many of the guests used them, which I cannot understand why. All in all fist class hotel with great facilaties and very relaxing at the same time. We would go back in a flash given the chance...
Planes, Rat Island, Barbed Wire and a Cemetry!
from A TripAdvisor Member
We arrived at The Rendezvous on the 2nd March 2004, exhasted from our trip from the UK. On arrival things seemed OK, not quite what we expected, but we thought we'd leave our opinions until the morning. At 6am we had a rude awakening - the first of many aircraft taking off directly over our hotel (you can literally TOUCH the airstrip and the aircraft are loud, don't believe the brochures!). This was obviously not a good start to the day, but we had breakfast and decided to check-out the rest of the resort. In brief..... there's a Cemetry (Choc Cemetry) about 200yds to your left, a barbed wire fence about 200yds to your right, a wonderful view of Rat Island (waste disposal) and a resort so small we walked it all in about 5 minutes! As for the beach being 2 miles long, mmmm no comment! As long as you are 60+ and enjoy being enclosed in a second-class, aging hotel in desperate need of renovation (we paid for an "upgrade" to the Luxury Ocean Front Room), you'll be fine! Overall, terribly disappointing and over-sold via the Internet and our Travel Agent.
Friendly Rendevous

What a beautifull island and what a great hotel. We stayed there first week of our honeymoon in nov2003. You do hear small aircraft noise as it is very near a small airport but this in no way spoiled our stay there. The food is excellent and the variety was ample too. The beach was good and there were plenty of watersports. What really made this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. I think that all in all it was excellent value for the money we paid. Word of warning. The taxi journey from hewenora to the hotel is scary as they overtake on blind bends!. Also although castries(capital) and St.lucia in general have very low crime rates, it is advisable to dress down a bit and not take expensive equipment into town. I have been to many islands in west indies but st.lucia is definately the best and the rendevous an excellent value for money hotel. See you in 2005 rendevous.
Lovely resort and great value

This place was a very pleasent surprise (especially after we rented a car and got to visit some of the other resorts on the island.)The hotel itself is very pretty and small enough that the only real walking you need to do is when the mood takes you to stroll along the beach. The grounds are well cared for and quite lovely. The beachfront rooms are charming with picturesque little balconies facing the ocean. There is a pretty beach in front of the hotel that runs for some 1 to 2 km to either side of the hotel. The beach is not very wide but there is a generous collection of beach loungers and umbrellas - enough for everyone. The water was clean and warm. The rooms were a little old fashioned but clean and nice - and everything worked the way it should. The food both in the buffet and the a la carte restaurant was excellent - a definite plus. The service both in the restaurants and bars was very good - no one gives you the sense that they're waiting to be tipped - it just doesn't seem to happen here. The buffet restaurant is open air overlooking the beach - it's very pretty. The watersports were great and anything you wanted to try the staff was there to teach if you needed help - all of them friendly. They offered a couple of things that you don't commonly see included - water skiing and scuba diving. There were dives available every day except Sunday for any certified divers. Beaches in St Lucia are all public and this resort is right on the edge of Castries so we would occasionally see some of the locals on the beach. No problem - it is their island after all. Actually it was interesting to see some of them riding or playing soccer on the beach. One morning at breakfast we were surprised to see 3 riderless horses come galloping along the beach!! I still don't know where they were going. Some of the other reviews mentioned the planes taking off or landing at the airstrip - no problem - these are small planes and few and far between. The island is beautiful - larger than I expected. The towns are nothing special - neither Castries nor Soufrierre is worth visiting. Nothing pretty about either of them - too bad. The trip from the airport takes a long time and the road twists and turns almost the entire length. The lady who sat in front of us on the little bus was sick by the time we arrived at the hotel. We did visit some other resorts and were not impressed. Avoid Club St Lucia - we heard a number of people talking about it and I don't think anyone liked it. Anse Chastenette is at the end of the worst road I've driven in years and isn't especially impressive - we didn't eat there because the buffet did not look very good. Le Sport is affiliated with Rendezvous and we spent a day up there. Nice - but nothing that would justify the extra cost - very similar in many ways to Rendezvous - Le Sport's staff wasn't as attentive as those at Rendezvous. The only real plus for Le Sport is that they have a nice snorkeling area off the beach. All in all a great holiday - very pretty resort - great food - friendly and attentive staff. We would go again in a heartbeat.
Nice honeymoon

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at Rendezvous. In general we had a very good time. The rooms were great, the beach was wonderful and the staff was mostly friendly. Only bad points: we, along with several guests, got pretty sick our second night there. We're pretty sure it was something we ate since the water is good to drink. It only lasted a night, but pretty unpleasant. Also beware, they tend to overbook. We spent our first night in a different room than booked. The management made up for it with some free spa treatments which was great. Take advantage of going to LeSport, the sister resort to Rendezvous. They have great snorkling and better food I thought. Rendezvous also has a way to book excursions all over the island. We took a few trips around the island by boat and open aired Jeeps and also a day trip to Martinique that was so much fun. Overall we had a great time and we were sad to leave.

My Boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel from 12/29/03 - 1/5/04. We could not have been more pleased. We had a verandah suite which overlooked the garden which was absolutely lovely. The rooms were bright, cheerful and spacious. When we arrived there were fresh cut flowers in the bathroom and the bedroom. This I thought was a nice touch. When we arrived we were treated to rum punch and a cool refreshing face cloth. Which helped revive our spirits after the long flight and taxi ride. Yes, the taxi ride is long but you don't even notice as you are getting a look at the island. Taxi driver seemed to like showing off his homeland an was completely amiable to stopping on request for picture taking. The ocean was pretty rough the first few days but who cared? The beach was so relaxing! The staff was GREAT! I don't know what those other reviews were talking about. Everybody was relaxed and smiling they couldn't have been more helpful. (Stephanie was particularly fun)You are in the cariabean everything moves a little slower...thats the point! The hotel had entertainment a couple of nights during the week performed by hotel staff. On New Years Eve they had a cocktail party with fireworks at midnight! The evening could not have been nicer. My only complaint was the food. Having said that I need to say I am a VERY picky eater. Everybody else, including my boyfriend really liked the food. Would I recommend this hotel. Absolutely! In fact I have ad-nausium to any one who would listen. We are already scheming out ways to get back there again this year!
