We arrived at the Aquis Zorbas Village and was met by George one of the managers who booked us in and took us to our room. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and the hotel had left us a bottle of champagne, fresh fruit and flowers in the room. Our room was very comfortable and lots of space for storage of clothes and we were lucky enough to have a lovely sea view.
The location of the hotel is a few miles out of Hersonissus so its a taxi ride or resort mini train, Taxi costs 8 Euro one way, the train cost us 12 Euro return but is a more scenic way to travel.
The hotel pools are always clean but very cold. Plenty of sunbeds around and not all with towels on them from 6am as previous reviews have said.
The food is wonderful with plenty of choices at all meal times, all well cooked and well presented.Serve yourself with drinks at meal times with beer and wines on tap, also fizzy drinks and fruit juice available.
One drawback here are the bars, only one open at a time, the pool bar during the day and the main bar in the evening, leading to queues at all times, with only one bar staff serving apart from late evening when two staff serve on. Free drinks end at 11pm after that time drinks are paid for and very expensive.Another thing to mention is you have to buy your bottled water at all times and they charge 2.50 Euro a bottle which is 1.50 Euro to buy out of the hotel.
The beach in front of the hotel is shingle with rocks near the sea, if you walk 5 mins or so to the left there is a better part of the beach with easier access to the sea.
We priced the trip to Spinalonga with our agents rep he wanted 53 Euro each but if you go into Hersonnisus the same trip is available for 23 Euro.
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and would go back to this resort again. This hotel is being totally refurbished over winter and no doubt will be a place to visit next year.
The staff are beyond reproach right from George the manager down to the cleaners, nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile for you.
I can recommend Aquis Zorbas Village very highly.
