Sunshine Hotel Reviews
" Good value "
Submitted By: roboy82The breakfast is a submarine roll, tea or coffee and jam, nothing wrong with that. If you have checked the hotel out on sites like these, then you would know what to expect.
Overall nice place, nice people, good value, if you book at the right price.
I would go back, no problem.
Good for: Beach
" THE GOOD AND BAD "
Submitted By: caroline_exeterHotel is ok the bedrooms are ok but the bathrooms are very basic with small baths with hand held showers over no shower curtain very hard to shower or bath properly.
The bin in use for used toilet paper had no lids!!
It is on a busy main road with lots of buses/coaches/taxis/cars bike passing by and loud music from near by pubs and resturants.
Steep stairs up to the hotel and lower bedrooms
Unmaned reception and at 5 in the morning had to find our own keys at reception and let ourselves in,hotel doors never locked.
Air conditioning is 8 euros a night and the fridge 4 euros, but once you take your key from its holder the electric gos off so cant leave anything on when you go out.
The floors are mopped in the bathrooms daily, and toilet tissue bin emptied, clean sheets daily and towels every few days.
Breakfast was a plain white bread roll, butter and jam orange squash not juice tea or coffee dont think i could touch another bread roll as long as i live!
Pool and bar area very nice, ate once at the hotel and the food was good.
The family and staff are very nice.
The best place to eat is few yards down the road called DIMITRA and the cheapest they have a blackboard outside with dishes of the day for 5 euros and you got a lovely large meal with excellent service.
The WORSE place to eat is CASA DI FLAVIA few hundred yards down the road, the food at best was lazy the service awful we were over charged and when asked the lady who runs/owns it she became very nasty i would avoid eating there ever again at all cost, with so many nice places to eat why bother?
Beach is very close and very good local bus service which takes you into lindos, lardos rhodes etc.
The rep was useless ,the trips he trys to sell you are over priced and boring when you can do the same trips for half the price and see and do what you want.
To hire a car it is approx 35 euros, less if more days.
It was bearable for a week others who were staying for 2 weeks i left behind were wishing they were coming back home too!
No entertainment to speak off.
Other parts of greece were lovely but i would not return to lardos or the hotel sunshine again.
My overall rating is a generous 3!!
Have a lovely time.
Advice: avoid the casa di flavia awful service, food lazy and over charged and hostile owner.
Activities: dimitra is cheap good service and very good food.

Submitted By: goulding-cWe are not alone in returning,we have never been back without meeting someone who has stayed there before. Some have been returning for over 20 years.
We were made very welcome on our first visit.Popi and her family were as helpful then as they are now,and although we have seen staff come and go Popi seems to have the knack of employing helpful friendly people.
The rooms are basic, but spotlessly clean, and although the breakfast included in the price is simple, fresh bread [always] orange juice tea or coffee,a full cooked breakfast is always available for very little, and if you are up after 10.00am the snack bar is open untill 7.00pm.
The Sunshine Hotel is actually in a place called Lothiarica, with Lardos village being some 20 min stroll away.
There are plenty of friendly bars and restaurants in Lothiarica our favourite restaurant being casa de flavia - pork and tarragon,to die for !
Lardos itself is a delightful village, with bars and restaurants. Yammas and Memories are our favourite bars with Rula's and good heart [very traditional greek food] our favourite restaurants.
If you want more night life then Pefcos is a 5 euro taxi ride away and Lindos 10 euro's. Both places have amazing night clubs.
We love the Sunshine it is a quiet place to go to,to relax and unwind, and it is perfect place to base yourself if you want peace and quiet, with the odd crazy night thrown in.
I can't wait to go back in 2009

" Overall a great holiday!!
Large rooms and a decent bathroom - considering you are in Greece.
Breakfast was a bread roll and orange juice, but for a few euros you could have everything from yoghurt and honey to a full english!!
The resort where the hotel is, is about a 30-45 minute walk from Lardos itself, or a 5 euro taxi trip.
There are plenty of supermarkets and a handful of cocktail bars and restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel, but for a great meal you cant miss Valentinos in the centre of Lardos - gorgeous food and great service!
Staff at the hotel are all friendly and helpful.
The pool area is spacious - plenty of sunbeds and a good sized swimming pool. The only problem was the wasps in the late afternoon - but as long as you dont bother them they seem to keep quiet!!
Air conditioning, fridges and safes are extra costs at the hotel but you will not survive the week without the air con!! Costs 8euros a night and 10euros for the fridge -which we managed without.
I read some quite poor reports on this hotel before i travelled - but if you are going here dont worry - its a great place and a fantastic holiday!

Submitted By: Mr L HarteThe three star hotel complex has an excellent swimming pool with ample free sunbeds and a very good shaded eating and drinking pool area.
The restaurant food and ambiance is equal to any in the area and serviced by the most pleasant and friendly waiters.
Poppy and her family revel in creating an extremely pleasant family orientated atmosphere who go out of their way to be cheerful obliging and helpful making this holiday complex a real pleasure to visit and stay in.
It obviously rubs off on the guests who appeared in our experience to get on very well with each other during our two week stay.
The rooms typical of Greece are kept very clean and serviced with air conditioning and fridge optional extras, in our experience a must for this time of year in Greece.
The two girls who attend you at breakfast from 9 am, to start your day off with a smile are still there to assist in the kitchen of the very good restaurant late at night, obviously friends of the family.
The family based hotel is situated on the road between Lardos village and Pefkos a purpose built holiday area, both really are worth a visit especially Lardos in the evening when it really comes to life, the square although not large is the heart and hub of this quaint small typically Greek village.
A very enjoyable and pleasant holiday to remember and a place to revisit.

There are lots of lovely resturants near by to cater for all the needs that you may have. If you want more pub style food with sandwiches and burgers then The Gallery is the place. Drinks here are also cheap and football matches are screened here too. Casa De Flavia is the most upmarket resturant serving food that is well presented and very enjoyable. Here you can eat anything from roast lamb to chicken and rice. Only one problem the deserts are not worth paying for, get an ice cream from the supermarket its cheaper.
A great resturant for deserts is the Bell Passo situated opposite the hotel, the owner at first may seem a little pushy but he really is lovely. Try the apple pie and chocolate cake, very yummy. However the main courses can be a little hit and miss some meals tasted great like the steak and the lamb but the pasta dishes lacked flavour. The hotel itself has a resturant which as an all rounder is by far the best, great service, food and deserts although only ice cream is avaiable its a very enjoyable meal.
Lardos is a 15-20 walk away past the mini golf which is worth having a go at and its free to go back too as many times on that one day, so pay once and play all day.
Lindos is a little futhern away and we suggest taking the bus or a taxi, do not try and walk in to Lindos. Lindos has a lovely beach but beware that it is very crowded and donkeys going up and down all day makes the walk a little smelly. You will find that most of the shops in Lindos sell that same things such as sun hats and small gifts that you buy as presents. The owners of the hotel are lovely and available to talk to most of the time in the pool bar. Overall a great holiday, i would recommend it to all who want a quiet break away from the hussle and bussle of the main town.
Advice: Simple stretch of bars and resturants serving a variety of meals for a variety of tastes
Activities: Mini Golf, The Gallery, Bell Passo, Casa di Flavia
Good for: Beach
