Just back from a week at the Takis apartments in Sidari and would never wish to go there again. What a nightmare! The apartment was old, run down, smelly and the shower was useless - its hand held (try washing your hair with one hand!) and flooded the entire bathroom after a few minutes use. The towels and the bedding can only be described as grubby. The weather was terrible and the apartment was absolutely freezing. We, and other guests, had to switch on the hobs of the stove to keep warm - possibly this contributed to one of the several powercuts we experienced while staying there...
Even on warm days the pool was totally empty as the water is Baltic. As for the "lovely gardens" - well, that is just a joke. Our terrace backed onto a "garden" that consisted of knee-high grass which emitted the most disgusting smell due to god only knows what. This smell managed to permeate the entire apartment.
The owners are building a new block and although there was no building work going on while we were there they did have a guard dog tied up inside the new "shell". This poor dog is tied up 24 hours a day and barks all through the night... This seems extremely cruel and upset my daughter.
The rep was useless, My Travel managed to lose one of our suitcases - it was returned to us 47 hours late by which time we'd had to buy shorts, t-shirts, towels and toiletries for my son. We were compensated for this - the day before we left!! The going rate is £25 per 24 hour period - as we were 60 mins shy of the 48 hrs they would not compensate us for the 2nd 23hrs. No much cop when half of your spending money was used on first day trying to kit out a teenager with no clean drawers and no trunks!
I would struggle to give these apartments 1 star....

Having just spent a week at Takis Apartments Sidari, please be aware although this excellently ran family business has all amenities required, the rooms are very clean but as basic as they come.
Had a fab time but next time would stay somewhere else. The main Sidari strip has many excellent bars and restaurants and we are definitely coming back next year to Sidari. Check out the East Coast Cruise but book it through a private travel company not the Reps - a lot cheaper!!! East Coast Cruise has gorgeous views and there is chance to catch the sun.

Just returned home from a great week at Takis apartments. Good base to stay very laid back atmosphere. Rooms quiet large all round the pool hardly any noise.
Very quiet at night. As lively as you like in the evenings from 15 to 80 yrs you will find what you want in Sidari.
Effi and Takis the owners are great fun don’t miss the bbq real good laugh great food.
Shame about the bar maid all she does is moan, glad she won’t be there next year when I go back.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment at the Takis for a week at the beginning of September. I have to say it was great value for money. The apartments were clean as was the pool area. The pool is one of the best in Sidari and as the is only around 16 apartments at the Takis, there is always a sun lounger free!
The apartments are a five minute walk from the main strip so you are far enough away from the noise if you want an early night!
Our Rep, Mikey, was excellent. Polite, friendly and always willing to give advice on the local area and beyond. Go back next year Mikey cos we'll definitely want you as our Rep!!!
The beach is lovely. A few water sports there - I dare you to try the FlyFishing ride!! Mad!
I would highly recommend the Takis and Sidari itself. Plenty for everyone to do. We did go to Kavos for one night but would choose Sidari over it any time!!!

The Takis apartments were the worst apartments we have stayed in anywhere in the world. They were filthy, run down and very basic; the shower was a hand shower attached to the taps which flooded the bathroom, the kitchen had a two ringed cooker on top of a wooden box. The whole apartment looked like it had been fitted out at the local car boot sale. The bed was about as comfortable as sleeping on the floor. We had clean sheets twice in the fortnight, well I say clean sheets but my son had blood stains on his.
The swimming pool looked nice and we had no trouble getting a sunbed but this was probably because the pool turned everything green including my legs, this was sorted out 2 days before we left by cleaning the pool, this needed to be done a lot more regularly. Effie the owner could not do enough for you, so the brochure said, but what it did not mention was Effie the owner could not do enough for you while you are spending money on her over priced bar. The other bar maid was only happy when she was sitting by the bar smoking and chatting to Effie, it was all too much of an effort if you wanted a drink. She made Victor Meldrew seem happy and helpful.
The Direct Choice rep was about as useful as a chocolate fire-guard, any problems you had he would "look into them", I believe he is still looking into ours. Don't buy any excursions, phone cards or car hire through the rep as they over charge, a five minute walk into town will save you a fortune.
There is no way this is a 3 star apartment, I would not give it 1. I would not recommend this apartment to my worst enemy. The resort of Sidari itself was very good, if you do fancy going here go for the St Georges hotel in the Kosmar brochure, this was a different class.

I thought the apartments were great for the amount of time we spent in them. Our 3 children spent their day outside at the pool or on the beach.
The restaurants were not to far away from the resort and the beach was not far too. It was away from the main strip and it was peaceful.
The Greek night was very exciting and the children loved it.
My only problem was one of the staff who was English was not very pleasant with our children. They were shouted at for going into the outside bar whilst being wet, but when I went into the bar wet she did not say anything. She was swearing and very unpleasant.
I will not be visiting the Takis Apartments again because of this vile attitude!
I would recommend this place if the one member of staff was fired, I will not name her but if you go you will know who she is!

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at Takis apartments. I had a really good time there.
The rooms are very basic but did the job we required for the price we paid. The pool area was very nice. It was cleaned every morning and had loads of free sunbeds. The bar was also very nice and prices were very reasonable. The barmaid (Theresa) was very friendly and funny, she makes a big effort to get to know all the guests.
If you are interested in booking any trips don't book through the rep. If you go down the road and turn left at The Three Little Pigs 150 yards on your left there is a travel shop where you can book them for half the price.
There is a lot of good restaurants in Sidari, 2 of our favourites were Sea Breeze and Madisons but beware the portions are quite big! One restaurant to avoid is Calypso, the service we received was very slow and orders were wrong.
If you suffer from any sort of travel sickness make sure you take travel sickness pills before travelling on coaches as some of the coach drivers are quite mad.
Overall we had a great time at Takis apartments, Efi the owner makes you feel very welcome. Hope you enjoy your stay at Takis apartments as much as we did.

We looked at all the reviews on the Takis apartment and they looked good. We have been back now for 5 days and want to go straight back. The owners Effie and Takis are some of the nicest people I have every met, nothing was to much trouble. It was my mums first time abroad and she loved it.
Our apartment was lovely and clean; it was cleaned every day. A must see is Effie and Takis’s Greek night - its fab and everybody gets involved. In Sidari go to the Bed Bar 6.50 euro for a 3 course meal, it was lovely.
Only bad thing was the rep at airport when we arrived did not know where our coach was. We had to find it ourselves and we had no rep on board, but when you do get to Takis Effie takes over, she is there to meet you off the coach. Don’t go on any excursions with the rep, you pay through the nose! Abit down the road are loads of shops doing the same trips for half the price and its all the same, so don’t be fooled by the rep. That’s why you get a meeting straight away before you go into town!
That’s about it, we loved Takis, Effie and the Takis apartments. We are going next year its already booked. Hope you all have a brill time, we did!

Apartments were OK, we had a 2 bedroom apartments. The bathrooms are just a stand up shower, sink and loo. The kitchen area is basic but adequate for peoples needs.
The pool area is really good and ideal for sun lovers. Little noise from the road and other establishments. Efi the owner is a fantastic host, nothing too much trouble for her to do.
We only went for a week and the resort has enough to keep 2 young kids interested. The Apartments I would say are located in the best part of Sidari, away from the hustle and bustle of the bars, souvenir shops and restaurants. You can see Elvis and Robbie every night in a different bar down the 'Strip'. Plenty of Englishness about the place. For the greekafieds, then there are plenty of good Taverna's, the best possibly being 'The Family'.
Not too impressed with the Tour Operator. No Rep to take you down to resort from the airport, on the way back waiting over 60min to be picked up as the driver had decided to change the pick up route and as their was no rep on the bus, there was a total lack of communication. At the airport there was total chaos. No Rep to meet the bus, people queuing in the wrong flight queue. 0/10 for the local rep team.
A brief warning: be prepared to have full checks of hand luggage before leaving Greece. No bottles are aloud in hand luggage at all. A friend of ours had a number of items removed from there hand luggage and then confiscated by Greek customs.

Returned yesterday from a week at the Takis Apartments.
I was very encouraged by the reviews on here and curious to see why two of the reviews were so negative.
The apartments are basic and very dated and ours was very small but considering the price we paid for the week, I have no complaints. All the crockery still doesn't match but we didn't eat in the room anyway.
If you are paying less than £300 for the week then it is a bargain, any more and you may want to consider other options - but only if you like your extra comforts and don't mind paying for it.
Last week was their second week of the season and the reps did make mistakes getting to and from the airport. The pool is great, a real sun trap and unlike many other hotels/apartments in Sidari, the road and pavement did not over look the pool/sunbathing area.
There are only 14 or 16 rooms so even in peak season I can't imagine Takis Apartments being that busy. The owners are friendly and are there most of the time.
They have a new bar person. You'd have thought she'd been there months not 3 days when we arrived. She is very friendly and helpful and got to know all the guests. Nothing was too much trouble. We had their cooked breakfast nearly every morning, only 3.5 Euros.
Drinks are relatively cheap too. If you fancy hiring a car, do not do it through the rep. They quoted us 220 Euros for a 7 seater for 2 days. We paid 80 Euros by walking 5 minutes into Sidari and booking direct with one of the car hire places - even then it is worth shopping around a bit.
We ate out every night and everywhere we ate was great. Watch out though, some of the Greek portions are huge and you may regret having had a starter!
If you like Chinese, go to the Magic Wok (or something like that) it was delicious. Sidari is a good mix. Takis Apartments are far enough out of the centre not to be disturbed by the noise but close enough to walk to.
I preferred the quieter tavernas but there are plenty of bars and restaurants with large screens serving English food and beer. We drove to Corfu Town for the day which was lovely, especially if you like shopping as the shops are a bit limited in Sidari.
Also Kassiopi which was very peaceful, although quite small with little to do from what we could see, so a quick visit for a drink or lunch maybe long enough.
The weather was amazing all week, although unusual apparently for this time of the year.
Overall we had a great week. If you accept before you go that you will not be staying in 5 star luxuries (as far as the rooms are concerned) then you should have a fabulous time. The sunloungers are more comfortable than most with a mesh cover to them, not the usual plastic.
I do not tend to revisit a resort as I like variety but if I did return to Sidari I would have no problem returning to the Takis Apartments.

I was only 16 and went with my friend who was 17 on day of departure and went to Takis for 1 week.
As we arrived in Corfu airport at 0630 local time, I was amazed to see the bad weather in august, and as we arrived it was a slight disappointment to the start of my first holiday on our own.
But as I woke up after a sleep about 9 o clock, I was surprised to feel the hottest heat and brightest sun I had seen this side of the Atlantic... and from there on my holiday was excellent.
Being young I was obviously looking for good nightlife but without it being dangerous... During the day there were plenty of activities offered to you that are brilliant and went shopping and lazed on the sunny beautiful beach for many hours...
The nightlife was very good being from plenty of young excited girls as well as cheap drinks, friendly atmosphere loud music and some local bars and clubs to dance or rest.
Also a foam party on Thursday nights. We Went for 1 week and had the best time of our lives yet and got a very nice tan and met some Greek girls.
Takis apartments are pretty basic and cooking facilities aren’t great but I didn’t fancy paying £600 to go somewhere and cook my own meals... if you want a great modern clean bar for good value and very nice atmosphere, I would recommend the B.E.D. bar to anyone and I will definitely be going back to Takis this summer.
The pool area is amazing. And the family run apartments are the best way to get treated well and made to be felt like your made at home...
Would recommend to anyone young or family A+

I have stayed here and loved it. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but some people have completely slated some pathetic things. Hand held showers woohoo! I haven't seen a shower bracket in any of the accommodation I have stayed in in Sidari. Its very easy to wash your hair no matter the length of it.
As for the swimming pool its cleaned everyday, Effie gets up every morning at about 6am to do this job esp. I know this coz I saw her almost every day of my holiday apart from when she was going to Athens for her check-up at the hospital. The reason the water turns your clothes/skin/hair green is due to the chemicals which are put in the pool to clean it. And when people are going in with clothes or in some cases where lads are concerned long trunks add a bit of 40 degree heat and you get chemical reactions.
I agree the "bar maid" was rubbish, she was rude about the guests/children and Effie and Takis. The girl they had last year Claire was much better esp when it came to the kids.
So what the apartments are basic, they are like this in a lot of places in Greece and at the end of the day Direct is more of a budget holiday company so you get what you pay for. The holiday is what you make it, of course Effie is going to be really nice to those who go in the bar and spend their money, she needs the bar in order to survive, she gets something like 1% of the cost of the holiday per person, if the holiday company paid her a bit more then maybe the rooms would get a makeover.
Going to stand down from my soap box. I apologise if I offended anyone but some things just really get on my nerves. But then there's no pleasing some people.
