Very disappointing by Boonbetty

We were disappointed in this hotel because in our opinion it fell far short of the three star standard which we had been led to expect. According to the manager, the hotel has recently been bought out and no longer has any stars. It was however sold to us as a three star hotel.

The main problem we had with this hotel was the catering. Good use was made of local fresh vegetables but there was not much meat and no fish at all during our stay. There was one main hot dish which was normally a combination dish, so if you didn't like one of the ingredients that was too bad, the only alternative was salad. The photo on the hotel's own website of meat being barbecued is a joke, we didn't see that much the meat the whole time we were there and certainly no barbecue. We also felt that hygiene left a lot to be desired as there were birds flying around in the restaurant, also no attempt to control the flies and wasps. Food was left uncovered throughout meal times.

On the last night of our stay a number of guests protested to the manager about the inadequacy of the food. This happened when the chef served 'meatballs' for the second night in a row despite complaints the previous night. Meatballs were served on a regular basis and were small pieces of unidentifiable meat that had been fed through a machine, chopped up and covered in vegetables/sauce. Although we were all inclusive we spent a lot of money eating out because we were so hungry.

This hotel has potential but needs investment. The standard rooms are basic and ours was sorely in need of refurbishment. There was a hole in the plaster of our room which seemed to be related to earlier water damage, also the shower bracket was held up with a bandage and one of the lights did not work. We were told that a technician would be out to fix the light but this did not happen.

We were moved to this room because it was in a quiet location and out of earshot of the pool bar, so we decided to make the best of it. On the plus side, the maid did a good job of keeping the room clean and we had a constant supply of fresh towels. Also the airconditioning worked well and was included. It was a shame that our tiny patio area looked out on the hotel washing lines and we had sheets and other items hung in front of us for the entire time.

There is a nice pool but it is quite dangerous to walk around it because it is so slippery. The staff would leave warning notices up the whole time. There was loud and, in our opinion, often unsuitable music at the pool bar for much of the time which made it impossible to relax. We ended up going out every day, driven away by the noise.

The pool bar is the only bar currently in use, even at night. There were no tables and very few chairs in this bar and guests were forced to sit on sunbeds. There are tables and chairs on the upper terrace, but if you want a drink then it's two flights of steps to the pool bar every time because the upper terrace bar is not in use. The drinks supplies seem to be ordered only when they run out. During our stay the white wine ran out twice, one night the gin ran out and the next night the tonic.

The hotel is at the top of a steep hill so has nice views of the surrounding area. It is only a few minutes walk down to the bus stop but takes considerably longer going back up. There is a free bus from the hotel at 11 am to a sandy beach at Olu Deniz, returning at 4 pm or 5 pm. A number of hotels use this facility so it is quite busy. Food, drinks, sunbeds and parasols are all charged for.

Read peoples reviews but must agree with Rocky.

Booked holiday through NGI found them to be very accomidating both in uk and whien in Hotel.

All Staff very helpful, even when they got our accomidation mucked up on the first night moved us first thing next day to one of the newly furnished studios pure luxury compared to basic room.

Pool was well maintained, if you were up early enough in the morning you would see all areas being scrubbed down by the staff. The room was cleaned every day fresh towels every other with the cleaners arranging towels on beds in various designs nice touch.

Entertainment wasn't the best but what we had was good especially the Turkish dancers and there sword slapping be carefull not to sit to close quite a bit of dust and concrete is kicked up whilst they are frantically dancing around. Belly dancer gave full involvement to audience with Joseph doing his best to get all in the holiday spirit.

All inclusive is very not what I expected it to be as long as you like efes or vodka, gin, raki or brandy you would be fine.

Thought the icecreams might be included for the kids at least but they were reasonably priced. Food was a little monotonous but as long as your prepared to try different things ample, you wouldn't starve.

Ovacik splash pool great fun told on my calfs climbing all the stairs mind

Hotels beach was not the best, grit not sand also very jagged rocks as you enter of which both my daughter and myself cut our feet,. thanks to the nice German couple who supplied us with plasters, hope the jelly fish sting wasn't to bad. we moved from here to the main beach which cost us about 70p each lot nicer more family freindly. had great time watching the paragliders floating around the sky just keep a close eye out where they are landing.

Hisinaru was an experience, generally people very welcoming. Like to stop and chat obviously try to sell you something but as long as you are happy to talk back they didn't pester you. Drinks were a little expensive especially the imported spirits £4 for a malibu and coke with proper measures. I was ok on the local brew at £1.

Monday market day fun enjoyed all the haggling.

All in all fully enjoyable holiday lazy relaxing or adventurous as you want. Our first visit to Turkey and if this holiday is anything to go by we will return.

you get what you pay for by RockyPlymouth

Anyone reading these reviews and having booked this holiday might be dreading going here. However, it is not as bad as a lot of people are saying.

We booked for 4 adults in August and paid £1,800.00 for two weeks all inclusive (any travel agent I went to could not get a holiday for much less than £3,000.00) so I was not expecting a five star hotel.

We had two rooms in the old blocks which were plenty big enough, clean and well air conditioned (we did not pay for our air conditioning so not sure how they work this). The jacuzzi suites are to die for - huge and very luxurious - however, the rooms we had were more than sufficient. The hotel is up a very steep hill and with the heat in August it was hard work.

The pool area is nice and we never had any trouble getting a sun bed. They cleaned it every night with some sort of chemicals.

The staff are friendly, basically a case of if you speak to them and have a laugh they will speak to you. The entertainment is non-existent. The two entertainers Emi and Joseph are nice lads but a bit more interested in chatting up the girls than entertaining. In the two weeks that we were there they had a turkish night and a magic show, neither of which were very good. They played music around the pool bar in the evenings and there is a disco which they put on occasionally but luckily we made friends and made our own entertainment.

I enjoyed the food but a lot of people did not. It depends on what your taste is. Breakfast was bread, jams, honey etc. Cornflakes and chocolate balls, Boiled eggs, little pastries, ham, cheese, salads, coffee, tea, juices etc.

Lunch was a large selection of nice salads, a couple of hot dishes, rice, chips occasionally (admitedly hot dishes were usually chicken), a few different deserts all of which were nice and melon and grapes, occasionally oranges. Evening meals were similar. If you are expecting burgers and chips then you will be very disappointed but if you like to try anything then the food was OK. It was sometimes cold and when you told the chef he didnt seems to understand.

The all inclusive drinks are basically vodka, gin, raki, brandy, red and white wine, beer and soft drinks (quite basic).

So it is basically a case of getting what you pay for. It is far from a holiday from hell, we had a great time. Hisaranou town is great, very lively at night and a pleasure to wander around the shops as you do not get hassled at all. We had a great night out at the Harmony Bar where they have a group of break dancers entertaining you.

This hotel is not ideal for all inclusive because the lack of entertainment means that you need to go into the town and we spent a lot more money than we usually do going out. The buses and taxis were cheap but it all adds up over the week. If I went again I would stay in Hisaranou and go bed and breakfast because there are some great places to eat out. Although, it is quite expensive to drink out, beer is cheap but shorts are about £3.50 to £4.00 and cocktails about £5.00.

A total disaster from day 1. On... by Anderson
1 / 10

A total disaster from day 1. On arrival where you were asked to pay for air con £20 but was free when you got to your room to the now Nicholas Lodge and not Aymera as you have to tell taxi drivers from Hisaranou Village or Olu Deniz.

We booked 2 week all-inclusive but ended up eating out after 5 days as it was a nightmare. The room was very basic in fact. We were in the block with staff down in the dungeons.

The food was disgusting it was processed chicken in some form or shape every day. Kids were not catered for so parents were ordering take-aways for them. Potatoes, your having a laugh, the chef probably doesn't know what one looks like - oh sorry had a jacket potato once. Chips were not on the menu even for kids.

As for location it is not 500 metres to beach or Hisaranou try 5km or even more. Only access to these were via a local dolmus, a very small charge, after descending the two, yes two very steep hills. No way could you walk it back up. A taxi will cost more, 10 lira a go, approx £4. The beach with free shuttle from the hotel wasn't nice at all. Still waters and filthy, you had to pay 10 lira for sunbeds which were very worn and dilapidated. Your eyes were taken out again at the nearby bar at the lagoon as you had to pay extortionate prices for beverages and food because the bus didn't come back till 1600 or 1700 hours. Bearing in mind we arrived at lagoon at 1020 am.

Around the pool area there was inadequate sunbeds for everyone. It was a dangerous safety hazard 24/7 as no attempt of tidying up was made from the the staffed who did absolutely nothing all day but stood around loitering. They would walk past empty glasses and anything in their way. On an evening guests were having to resort to sitting on sun loungers around the wet pool area. A sight I had to observe and felt totally demoralised to witness as the two green plastic tables and 8 green matching chairs were again insufficient bearing in mind this hovel was full to the gunnels.

No entertaiment was provided day or night. The animation team consisted of 2 young males who competed against each other in the pool with their only props a basketball and net. They were giving a new toy in 2nd week ( a microphone) which was not used except to to ask guests not to use lilos on the waterslide.

We had to suffer a 2nd week as the rep said everywhere was full and no other means of accommodation was available. So again we had to spend on eating out. It would have paid us to go self-catering and come home with change. We spent an absolute fortune on travel and food in this resort. A horrific experience the first in fifteen years. I've felt I have to let other tourists know what I had to endure at Nicholas Lodge aka Aymera.

Be warned. There should be a law against what they advertise on their sites. Totally not true in their description on the website of many I surfed. Enough complaining. Try as you may but you will be disappointed.

AKA Aymera but now taken over by NGI group and called Nicholas Lodge. Set on 2 very steep slopes no good to the very fittest. Not 500m as stated from the beach or Hisaranou village. Try 5km or more via dolmus or taxi. We had booked two weeks all inc but were wanting to change hotels after 5 days but to no avail so the rep (who was very unhelpful in all aspects) said. Accommodation was absolutely basic infact we were in the staff block. On arrival we were asked if we would like air con at an additional £20 but was free when you got into your room. Some guests had paid for it. Not enough sunbeds for everyone during the day and in first week 2 plastic tables and 8 chairs situated beside the only bar area in the evening. Guests were having to lounge about on sun loungers around the pool on the evenings. A total disgrace to observe. Pool area a safety hazard at all times. Not once, morning noon or night was it tidied or mopped. Adults and children slipped on several occasions of which I was witness to. Animation team (what a laugh) 2 males competing against each other in the pool playing with a basket ball and net during the day. No entertainment whatsoever on an evening for the first week. 2nd week the 2 males were giving a microphone to play with which was neither use nor ornament. Down to the food absolutely disgusting. No catering for children unless they have a diet of stale bread because there was nothing else they could suffer as we the adults had to. Sorry had chips twice. Bearing in mind we had to eat out after 5 days as it got monotonous . An additional £300 spent An expense we could have done without . I could go on and on but enough`s enough. I can tell you I had my fill of Nicholas Lodge and that wasnt in the way of food or satisffaction in anyway at all. This is the first time in holidaying in 15 year that I feel I have to share my views on any website. All I can say is DON`T GO THERE.

Mostly great by Muppet2

Went here with two friends for a last minute week holiday. Overall was a really nice place. We were given one of the new rooms, which was great! Very big and spacious, cleaned everyday and towels replaced daily. They did keep forgetting that there were three of us though and we had to ask for a third towel everyday for about 4 days.

The staff are friendly, but don't speak much English at all so it did cause some problems when trying to find out any infomation.

The pool area is nice, not as big as the photos though! The slide is great fun!!

Food was bit limited, but always really nice. But be prepared to eat a lot of chicken!! We all got a bit tired of chicken and not sure how great that would be after one week.

Apart from one evening entertainment the hotel doesn't provide any. The evening was a great laugh, belly dancing and traditional turkish dancing. But it would have been better if there was at least a couple more nights where something was put on.

The only major problem was that one day they fumigated all the rooms, without warning! Our room smelt very chemically and we couldn 't stay in there because it was burning our throats. We did complain but the staff didn't really understand what we were saying. I'm guessing this probably isn't a regular thing but they really should warn pepole.

The private beach really isn't all that nice, the public beach is much nicer, although you can swim more at the private beach.

Don't bother with the jacuzzi or sauna, they're not working and are being used store rooms!!

Overall, I would recommend it, it's a nice place, with great views, if a little out of the way from the main centres. But it's only a cheap bus ride into the town. It's a quiet hotel, which was what we wanted and we had a lovely time.

had a great time here!! i went with my mom and it was a relaxing break away. i loved the staff and their hospitality made our time very enjoyable. we spent many days by the poolside and eating lots of food!! the buffet was limited at times but it wasn't the end of the world. Whatever food was available was of a good standard. the rooms were freshly cleaned everday and the hotel gave a very clean vibe (tablecloths could have been cleaner though!!) BUT OVERALL a great time spent here and would recommend it to friends!

Staff very friendly and hotel was... by L Brooks

Staff very friendly and hotel was very clean. We went all inclusive but were restricted on what drinks we could have (including their local spirits).

The food was terrible, salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was also eggs and cereal for breakfast and there were 3 hot dishes to choose from at lunch and dinner but they were not very nice.

The private beach was a short bus trip away, but it was nothing special. Infact it was more like a lake.

The town is about 10 minutes away in a taxi. You could walk it but we chose not to because of the heat and the steep hill leading up to the hotel. Places to eat in the town are really cheap.

The Hans bar is a really nice place to eat as is the all you can eat Chinese/Indian.

There was no entertainment throughout the day or at night at the hotel. It has got a waterslide but only gets turned on for a short while at any one time.

I would probably stay at the hotel again as the staff were really nice and it was very clean but on self catering basis as its cheap and a lot nicer to eat out in town.

I will definitely return to Turkey as it is very beautiful.

Another tip for you is to fill up on food before going to the airport as it is so expensive there.

Where ever you go hope you have a lovely holiday.

Went to stay at this Hotel on 28th May 2007 through LowCostBeds.com. When we arrived at the hotel we found it to be closed for renovation as it had been brought out by the St Nicholas group. Fortunately they were really helpful and put us up in another of their local hotels St Nicholas Park, where we had a fantastic holiday. All the staff were really freindly and went out of their way to be helpful especially in the resturant. We will definately be going back.

not as good as we remembered by A TripAdvisor Member

we had stayed at this hotel five years ago, we so enjoyed it that we decided to go back this year.We raved about the food and the staff to my sister (who had never been to Turkey). How disappointed we were, most of the hotel was occupied by polish about 85%

They were not friendly towards the brits, the food we likened to school dinners, on 2 occassions there was no food left, the staff could not speak any english,so therefore it was hard to tell them how we felt. The hotel offered no entertainment apart from a disco from 11.30pm until whenever, there was never anybody there. The hotel had an air of despondency about it, the pool was wonderful apart from the slide (laughingly called the aquapark). The few members of staff who tried to offer typical Turkish hospitality made our stay bearable, the were the chef, the security man and Peter Andre (loolalike), if it wasn't for them trying their best our syat would have been a complete disaster, we will not be going back.

Was ok but expected better by Fee2

Stayed in the Aymera Hill Hotel in Ovacik last year. The Hotel itself was nice, clean, good rooms, nice pool etc. The main thing that let it down was the food, we were all inclusive and although edible, we had the same every day. Breakfast was a limited cold buffet style and wasn't kept cold enough. Lunch & evening meals were basic and almost the same, we lived on chicken, chips and rice for almost the whole time we were there. There was always another option but sometimes you could tell it was just a mixture of various leftovers from the previous day and the staff couldn't even give it a name, anything they were unsure of they classed as meatballs. The hot food was never quite hot enough and cold was never quite cold enough.

The hotel was set up quite a steep hill so you were limited for going out, especially in the evenings and there wasn't much entertainment at the hotel. At the bottom of the hill it was easy to catch a bus somewhere but you knew that when you got back it was a very steep hill to climb.

All in all a nice hotel but could have put more effort in with the food. OK if you don't mind chicken, chips & rice every day for 2 meals a day.
