We have just returned from a holiday at the Atlantida apartments. Don't be fooled by the daytime entertainment for the kids!! There is a kids club with ENGLISH speaking reps, however, they would not cater for the ENGLISH speaking children, and therefore, there is no such 'kids daytime entertainment' for BRITISH children. German and French children were very well entertained. My daughter and son of 8 and 6 years old, were not permitted to join in. On to the cockroaches! We had three in our apartment during our week long stay, one of which fell on my back. There was a lovely large one by the pool having a good run around. Having spoken to other guests, it appeared that we weren't the only ones with a cockroach problem. Evening entertainment is good and varied. Very thankful it was a gorgeous week. A cheap and cheerful holiday, nevertheless.

Just had 2 great weeks at the Atlantida Bungalows, this was our second time staying there (1st time Nov/Dec 06) and we could see the difference a year made. The complex is undergoing a full overhaul/redecoration throughout and our apartment was newly painted outside and had new curtains and bed-covers - it also came equiped with microwave, kettle, toaster, oven rings, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The complex has sold out to scandinavian tour operators who expect more for their money hence the updating (impossible to book direct now, but can book via Alpha Rooms or Sunshine.co.uk etc.)
The soft play area and slides etc are untouched and in need of some serious TLC, the kids club is now only for scandanavian guests so the Brits only have the hotel run entertainment during the day which is really for older kids (i.e. pool, squash, tennis, football, etc). They do however have a new heated pool which although small was still very nice considering the other 2 are always freezing! Mums with buggies please note the heated pool CAN be reached via ramps, however there are steps down to the pool with no seating area around and a sunbathing platform above the pool reached by more steps.
The evening entertainment is the usual cheese (most what we saw in 06) but entertaining nonetheless.
There is lots of building work/updating the promenade in Los Cris, minimum disruption as you can still reach the beach - will look lovely when finished.
All said and done a great little place to stay (hence our 2nd visit) and yes, we will be going back again. Go ahead, give it a try - you never know you might really like it!

was put into 'Atlantida' when we arrived because our booked hotel was over booked,
not happy at first but it turned out to be better than original hotel which was in Las Americas.
rooms were basic but clean, cleaners in every day.
All staff were very polite and helpfull, we would definately stay there again.
Eating out, 'Charlies', about 75 metres away, at the bottom of the road is a must, nice staff, good food, reasonable prices, and a good cabaret duo (Elaine & David).

After reading the reviews about these apartments, I must admit I was worried! The thing is, different people have different ideas of what makes a good holiday and I'd basically worried for nothing. For us (2 adults a 4 year old & a 2 year old) these apartments were brilliant, it's a fantastic kids place with slides, football enclosure and indoor soft playroom in the bar area (which means mum and dad can have a drink while the kids play!! Bliss).
We also found the evening entertainment quite good too, yes it's the usual parrot show, eagle show, snake show and singers - but even so, it's interesting light hearted fun that keeps the kids attention as well.
The apartments themselves are basic but clean and have everything you need (we had no.96) which had a huge balcony too! The lay out of the complex isn't as confusing as some other reviews have implied (my 4 year old daughter could find her way from reception to our apartment and also to the cave bar).
The time share touts and looky looky men were no problem this year (last year they were really hard to get rid of and were everywhere), this year if we were approached we simply said "no thank you" and they left us alone.
The monkey zoo is a must, the kids (and us adults) loved it - it's a great experience to be able to hand feed the monkeys - even my 2 year old wandered around feeding them. Would recommend you take green grapes and plenty of raisins - they can't get enough of them! The Atlantida called a taxi to take us to the zoo (cost about 6 euros) and the monkey zoo called us a taxi to take us back to the Atlantida afterwards.
The Atlantida have Sticky and Emma who work really hard at entertaining the children and they really enjoy what they're doing too - which shows! My daughter loved the mini disco each night and was really sad to say goodbye to Sticky and Emma at the end of our holiday.
So, would I go back again??? You bet, I'm already looking to book for next December!

Just come back from great 2weeks. Accommodation basic but plenty of room. Also had toaster, microwave and washing machine and 2 cots which not always had before. Yes they are doing work there, upgrading reception and redecorating the apartments but it doesn't get in the way of your holiday.
All the staff there are friendly and welcoming from reception to the cleaners even the security guards that patrol at night (the joys of having a baby who wants to be wide awake at 4 in the morning!). The entertainment staff of Sticky, Emma and Malin are fab with the children of all ages. We went with 12, 9, 6yrs old children plus 16month and 16week babies! They all had a great time and enjoyed the varied evening entertainment. There was also various daytime activities so you could be free of them for several hours too. Our 16month old especially enjoyed the mini disco each evening.
The new heated pool opened while we were there with a fully qualified lifeguard. The other 2 pools were great in the fact you could get a sun-lounger at any time of day, yes they were cold but it was October!
There were loads are great food places within walking distance with very good special offers on to get visitors in. Pints of lager at only 70p a pint for example!
Yes you get the looky looky men but they go straight away if you say no, the Chinese ladies selling the kids toys took longer. Never once got bothered by time share touts but then they may not be interested in big families.
But overall great place, clean resort and beaches. Would definitely recommend.
Would recommend visiting the local monkey park (take green grapes the monkeys like them better than the food you can buy there), you can go through enclosures and the monkeys will come down out of the trees and sit on your arms and shoulders! The kids really enjoyed this activity. You can also get up close to huge lizards and giant tortoises. The chimps love blowing raspberries at you. Mind the Drill monkey he doesn't like certain people and charges at the glass!!! Which has got a giant crack in it! The dolphin show at the aquapark is better than the one at Loro Park (which I thought was really fantastic!), the killer whale show was great too. But the birds there are in cages far too small and it was very crowded. Also visited Mount Teide but you can no longer reach the last bit of the summit which was disappointing, but views great all the same.

Just returned from half-term break at these apartments with family - 14 and 10. Had a fantastic time, weather brilliant.
Apartments basic but very clean. A bit like a rabbit warren at first but soon get used to layout. We had an apartment overlooking the pool. Walls are low but security does not seem to be a problem as there is only one entrance to the site through reception. Security boxes can be hired at reception.
Thought at first pools were a little small but no problem getting sun beds because you are not allowed to reserve using towels. Found a brand new pool that had been built, on our last day they were just filling it. Some apartments were being repainted whilst we were there but this was not a problem and yes, reception is being rebuilt but this was not a problem either. Reception staff very helpful.
You must visit Mount Tiede but beware temperature in resort was 27 deg C but at top of volcano with wind chill it was -7 deg C.

Just returned from these apartments. DON'T GO they are rebuilding the reception and doing some of the cells up, that’s the best description for the layout I can think of.
One star is the max at present for these apartments. Staff were very good to be fair.
Booked holiday via Thomson’s website didn't know going on the Skytours label until tickets arrived. These apartments are very tired whole place should be shut for a proper refurb not the phased plan they are using. Swimming pools, two of, are a joke so beware.

Accommodation basic but it has all you need, including a washing machine, no air conditioning but fans can be hired. We are being upgraded as we speak. Try the evening buffet, very good value for money and a must is the BBQ on the Monday evenings.
Richard and Emma are the entertainers (having been there only 6 weeks) they are doing an excellent job. Keeping the kids happy with day time actives including basketball, football, circus work shop and face painting etc. Full evening entertainment for both kids and adults!! This includes bingo, live animal shows and the excellent Atlantida has got talent! There are some good restaurants near by (the only down side is the time share ticket sellers and the Africans trying to sell sunglasses and chains etc.) good for families or couples a like, we have 2 boys of 15 and 11 and they enjoyed themselves and joined in with loads of activities!!

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Tenerife. 2 adults and 2 kids (12 & 8), we have been to Tenerife twice before so knew what to expect with the area itself.
Yes the "looky, looky" men are a bit annoying when you are eating but most of them are cheery and if you are firm they will go away.
Watch out for the Time share touts though, not so easy to put off.
Arrived after a long transfer journey due to 2 cars being parked at the exit of one of the car parks that we dropped someone off at, and found the apartment to be boiling and had couple of cockroaches.
Was ready for going straight home at this point. But eventually settled in. If you are going hire a fan at reception, as no air conditioning. Entertainment was great, in particular "Sticky the Clown,” also met a great bunch of people which made the holiday.
Pools small but quiet so no problems there, and hotel staff great. Close to the front and you can walk all the way along to Las Americas. Plenty of nice places to eat, especially Shelley’s and Las Velas, though both aren't cheap but are really good and well worth a visit.
Trips that are a must are Loro Parque and Jungle Park and Santiago Parque region of Las Americas, especially for the shopping and Crazy Golf. Acceptable accommodation but not up to the standard that we are used to, but worth a try as a 2 bedroom apartment cost the same as you would pay for one elsewhere.

The Atlantida has a good location, being only a 5 min walk from the coast and 15/20 min walk from an excellent beach at Playa d'vista (toilets, lifeguards and clean).
There is a supermarket right next door but a bigger and new 'Spar' is up the road, out of the complex, turn left, 5/10 mins.
The complex is compact and a bit of a maze. Luckily we had an apartment close to reception and the opposite end to the Cave entertainment area and bar that can be noisy up until midnight plus.
The rooms are basic and functional. Initial impressions were poor as we compared it to a previous apartment in Southern Spain.
However, once we had unpacked and made the apartment look and feel like home we acclimatised to the room and soon settled in. The TV is on a meter: one euro for an hour, so be warned.
Do not expect amazing views of the sea etc as the best you will get is one of the two small pools, at worst a wall or a neighbours door.
Staff were helpful and the entertainment was ok. The resort is pleasant but was undergoing renovations and drainage replacement, but it will be great when finished.
Overall the Atlantida provides a no thrills, basic 3 star accommodations at good value. If you can cope with this and be prepared to feel like you are living in a badly designed 60's council estate, then go for it.
If you like style, sea views and a bit of class then look elsewhere.

Having read the reviews I was not too sure what to expect. This was an Easter break for me and my 12 year old son.
Every year we go to the Canaries and although we generally prefer Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, Tenerife was as expected.
Apartments were ok, no cockroaches or ants to be seen. You get what you pay for ultimately.
It was clean; beds were comfortable, basic equipment, but two sinks in the bathroom, a shower, separate bath and a washing machine!
Not too happy about the security with all the balconies having a low wall separating them all along the rows, but in April it was quiet and felt safe.
Los Cristianos is not the prettiest of places. It has two beaches, one with the view of all the ferries/boats and a smell of diesel.
The furthest one did look much better but my son got bored on this one, as he said there was nothing to look at!
The beach volleyball competition was rather loud and lasted all day.

Got what I expected: no frills, lots of steps, staff very good, rooms need updating, so do the beds.
In all I think it was well overpriced and in need of TLC.
Would I go again? Yes, but not at that price, they would need to come down a lot.

We went here for our honeymoon (28 and 24). We arrived after a 1 hour transfer ride after being last off the coach, only to be greeted by a man on reception who could barely speak English.
We asked for a quiet pool view room to which we were put on the bottom right on the pools edge. This would have been great if it wasn’t for the tonnes of loudmouth Germans around.
The rooms were really clean and spacious but I definitely agree with the other reviewers, it does need a huge revamp and better security for your room (we put a chair against our doors).
It’s a nice walk to be sandy golden beach, around 20 mins, however there is a lot of building work going on in the area which made it a pain to move around without physically bumping into lots of other holidaymakers.
We were definitely disappointed with the food there. As we are non smokers and my husband having asthma we found it difficult to find places to eat which didn’t have smokers pouring out of them. Not only that most of the food places are kind of like cafes but want your money then for you to leave!!
We loved a place called Amigos, Little Italy and another restaurant up the same street. Not expensive either we think.
We won’t be going back-either to both apartments and los Cristianos, a huge disappointment by all accounts.

After arriving at these shabby apartments, where we had requested a quiet room, we were allocated room 170 which was the room furthest from reception close to a roundabout on a dual carriageway.
The inside walls were filthy and the outside walls were cleaner than the inside.
Security on the sliding door leading to the balcony consisted of a loose fitting two inch pin which pushed through both doors when closed.
We complained straight away and were immediately offered room 69 which was cleaner, more secure and a lot quieter.
Safety deposit boxes were all in reception, which in these apartments was no bad thing.
Overall these apartments were like a throw back to the early seventies and were in desperate need of a total refit (bulldozing and re-building).
We've been in quite a few Thomson apartments and unfortunately these are definitely the worst.
On a more positive note Marcos the barman is a bit of a character a friendly, genuine nice bloke.
