First time @ Sharm, I was very disappointed by this hotel.
There is not anything to do in the hotel, the spa, jaccusi is not include and you have to pay for it. The pools are rather small, and no music is played. The phoniex bar(open roof) prices are crazy and Shisha is not good at all!
The buffets are very limited and basic, and you even have to pay for water!
The receptionist is very unfriendly, and they'll try anything to get you to pay for their services including the safe box which is not even in your room!
However the cleaning person was really nice, probably that's because he was married.
So if you are going as a couple or family, it might be a ok hotel, but if you are going as a girl group, you are gonna get a lot of attention and mostly harassments from the staff, and in generally anyone outside the hotel.
So you'll be forced to sit by the pool and read a book or two and listen to your iPods, specially when the receptionist doesn't have any local map!
It's more like a motel than a hotel and therefor I only give it 3 out of 10!
However if you end up going here, make sure you visit the old market for shopping, sharm bay for snorkling, and namaa bay for nightlife.
and by the way dont forget bargaining! taxi rate it around 10-15 Egyptian pound, a bottle of water is 3-5 EGP...so don't get ripped off!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Ocean Club hotel in early February 2009 and although it is basic, we found it clean and pleasant enough.
Our room was quite nice and the cleaners would do a good job; changing the bedding every day and using the sheets/pillows to do a daily 'welcome decoration' on the bed.
The breakfast was quite tasty and varied and the hotel did entertainment most evenings; with some fun Egyptian and Mongolian BBQ's, belly-dancing and fire-shows.
The hotel has two decent-sized pools; one a diving pool with lots of deck-chairs and a bar next to it. The roof-top bar was also popular.
A great asset to this hotel was the shuttle-bus service (to the nearby quiet beach and the busy Namma Bay beach and nightlife) it provided for a small fee. It's also across the road from a couple of restuarants and shops.
Overall, it was pleasant enough and everyone was very friendly.

I have been to Sharm 4 times, and was really disapointed with this hotel.
We didnt know how to lock our doors, and guests were asking each other, in order to find out.
The fire alarm went off at 4.20am during the first night, when I went to reception after assuming it had gone off for a reason, I was told not to worry about it, and it consequently went off every day after that. When I complained, I was met with an attitude of "Oh, has the fire alarm been going off"? which was unbelievable! (The worry being that if it went off for the real reason it it supposed to, guests would assume its just going off again for no reason and not react).
The bar staff were okay, but when I asked a member of staff for some food when there was a curry night on, (and I didnt want curry) he seemed really put out, and said it wasnt avaliable. I said to forget the remainder of the order (A portion of potatoe wedges, that was all) and he got really cross that I didnt want to order anything else. As a result, I was charged 30le for the same non alchaholic drink i has purchased before on another evening at a much cheaper price. I felt so indimidated by then, I didnt bother to argue with him. It just didnt feel worth it.
The bathroom stank of sewage the whole time, which I found unbearable. (The room itself however was clean and livable).
When I got sick and reported it to the Explorers rep, I was told that I had dehydration. I mentioned that half the hotel was like a hospital, with people really sick, and one of the reps walked out! The other one again insisted that it was dehydration, and that was her answer.
I was so ill, I wanted to leave early and go home. I asked reception if they could print my additional ticket that I was about to book, so that I could do this, to be told "the printer doesnt work". I explained that I really needed to print, as it was an airline ticket, and he actually shrugged his shoulders and said again that the printer didnt work. There was one working in the office behind him as I could hear it, but I couldnt use it.
All in all, I think this hotel is great if you are diving and just want something basic, but I have stayed in other hotels and have never had these problems.
Sorry to say, but I wouldnt ever go back to this hotel, and would not recommend it.

I've been to this hotel twice now, and both times have found it to be fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even came to join me and my friend on our balcony for shisha one night.
The man who works in the shop is also lovely, and more than willing to teach you a little Arabic and write your name in hieroglyphics!
The rooms are clean and large, especially the ones around the pool, and the cleaning staff make wonderful animal 'sculptures' out of your towels for you.
The food in the restaurant is quite basic, I only ate there for breakfast really, but the Mongolian BBQ is delicious and quite fun.
You are expected to tip for things, so bear that in mind.

The first time I visited the Ocean Club Hotel was in July 2006, I was greeted then with them digging up the tiles around the swimming pool. The place lacked a serious cleanliness, the room was very basic. Breakfast range was poor, and the staff seamed to struggle with adding up your bar bill, and the quality and value for money was poor, you could go to the bay for £2 and get a better meal for cheaper.
I thought I would try it again for December 2007 as I heard the place had been taken over and they had had a re-fit. The cleanliness, is still somewhat to be desired. Although our bed was made every day it looked like they missed the whole of the room, including the floor and we had to ask for a second towel. The re-fit was just a coat of paint here and there, a few more plants and they completely covered the kitchen area with a screen, so you can’t see actually how dirty it is behind. The price for beer and food here is good, not the best I can tell you but I think you are paying a fair price for beer and soft drinks compared with other Hotels close by.
This place would do so much better if they concentrated on the décor of the rooms a bit more, got them self a good cleaner, and found somewhere where they could store their paint, wood and stuff without their guests falling over it. They need to buy a new CD player for the Pool Bar because the thing just kept on jumping all the time.
The food has got better; the service is still the same (watch your bill!).
The only positive thing I can say about the Ocean Club is that the Ocean College Dive Centre is right next door, the guests are mostly divers, so you have common interests, and everything is so close to your room.

Room was pretty basic. Only went there because we were on a dive holiday.
Expensive for what it was when for only a little more you can get a four star hotel with much better facilities.
Breakfast basic too - but they will cook an egg for you if you ask. Not much point eating in the restaurant when you can go to Naama or Old Sharm for more variety at no more expense.

The rooms of this hotel are basic but clean and comfortable. If, like me, you are going for the diving then it is ideal. The Dive school is next door and is excellent, and when you return from the deep blue the beer is cheap, the food fine (I suggest the Mongolian barbeque) and the welcome hearty.
The staff are wonderful and they will help you all they can. Ok it's not the Ritz, but if you want that, then be prepared to pay the price elsewhere!
I'm planning my next trip already.

There are 2 hotels-ocean club and ocean bay with the bay hotel being in centre of Sharm and a little more expensive. Ocean club is a £2 taxi ride from centre but there is a 50p shuttle service which runs hourly in the evening to Naama bay.
I booked late with explorer and got week for £199 so wasn’t expecting much. I went as I dive and booked dive package as well and this hotel had no single supplements so was full of mainly single divers.
Rooms were very basic. A single bed, wardrobe, drawers, a TV which had some English movie channels with Egypt sub titles. Bathroom was again v basic. A shower in one corner which drained into a corner if you get the thing with a curtain around. Plenty of hot water but it was very hot!! And just a touch of cold rendered it cold somehow!!
Room was clean though but only 1 towel supplied.
There were 2 different pools with loungers and pool towels and some dive training was done in pool. Pool bar available for drinks and snacks until late. There was also another bar where you could eat and drink as well which opens in the evening.
Breakfast was from 7 and had hot food- scrambled eggs, potatoes things and some kind of sausage and onion but it was always on the cold side so stuck to rolls and cheese. Only eat at hotel once and prices were slightly more than in town!
All in all it was an ok hotel for diving as Ocean College was next door but if I went there for a non dive holiday would probably choose somewhere a bit more swish.

This was my first holiday, went with my girlfriend for a week in April. Would reccommend the hotel to anyone as it was very well organised and attractive. Staff are all lovely, especially mohammed in the restaurant. Everywhere relatively cheap but be prepared to haggle for EVERYTHING! Watch out for the bazaar owners, they are all lovely, just here them out but be firm with them otherwise they'll spend everything you've got. Other than that ENJOY and be sure to check out the Aquapark, it's ACE!!
