Lovely friendly hotel.
After a being delayed because of bad weather we arrived a day late. The welcome we got from the staff cheered us up no end. The room although on the small side, was spotless. We could not fault the standard of the meals provided. The staff at the hotel were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, for a 2star hotel it represented good value for money. Having travelled far and wide we have stayed in 4star hotels that have not (in our experience) come close to the Norfolk Lodge.
Good value for Jersey
On arrival we were allocated a small room from which we could'nt even see the sky . We complained and the next day were moved to something more acceptable . At first it seemed decidedly basic but after enquiring about prices at other establishments , we came to realise what good value it was . Food is really excellent with a very varied menu . Staff are very friendly . Clean but a bit dated and worn in places . I did'nt find the lounge relaxing - over- lit , it would need to be no-smoking with such a low ceiling . Location is bad : 20 mins... more
Excellent staff but average hotel.
The staff at the hotel were all very friendly at kept the place very clean. Overall the hotel was very nice but there were a few minor problems so I wouldn't reccommend it. When we arrived I had to carry my suitcases up a flight of stairs to reception and as our room was in the roof we got the lift to the 3rd floor and then had to carry our cases up another flight of stairs. The room had a horrible smell of smoke but was a good size, very clean and had a nice view. The bed was lumpy and the shower no more than a trickle. We went for... more
Great Hotel
Stayed here for 4 days at the end of August 2006. The management are always around, mixing with the customers, being friendly. A sure sign that they are confident of their staff and service. The hotel is well located, lovely and clean, and the staff really friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Excellent service and friendly staff.
I stayed at the Norfolk Lodge with my young daughter from 16th August-23rd August 2006 and had a wonderful time. Steps up to reception area (staff carried the cases though) and slippery floor in our en-suite were the only concerns. This hotel provided an excellent introduction for my daughter in how to behave and how to be treated in a hotel. The staff really seemed to like children and all the children we saw there were very well behaved and cheerful, I felt this was partly because of the positive regard of the staff for them. The... more
great hotel
I booked this hotel for a 5 day break for myself and my husband. Upon arrival we were not disappointed. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. As previously stated the rooms are a little dated in appearance but this did not bother us. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the waitresses were always cheerful and friendly and the service was excellent. The bar staff in the evening were also lovely in fact all the staff there are a credit to the hotel. Its about a 15 mins walk into centre of st Helier but the route via the... more
Great value hotel
Very impressed upon arrival, the hotel standing near a roundabout on the St Hellier ring road about a 15 min walk to town. Public areas were clean spacious and comfortable and reception very pleasantly staffed. Our room was a little dated but very clean, however we did request a room change as the hotel does suffer a little from noisy floorboards and as luck would have it, our room was below a couple who manourvered around like elephants. The manager was very helpful in this regard and did his best for us. The food was exceptional value for... more
Norfolk Lodge
We had not been to Jersey before and we wanted to stay in St Helier as our philosophy is always to stay where there's a good choice of bars and restaurants in the evening, and during the day you can go out to the bays and visit the quiet areas. We looked for a hotel near the centre of town at a reasonable rate. The Norfolk lodge seemed to fit the bill so we booked for 3 nights B&B, en suite double room. On arrival we got a taxi to St Helier which cost us £12 (not £6 which some reviews quote). We found the hotel pleasant, though... more
Excellent service at the Norfolk Lodge
I've just arrived home from a 5 day break at the Norfolk Lodge. I was apprehensive about checking in at the beginning of the season because rooms can be damp and cold. Not so at the Norfolk Lodge because the rooms had obviously been well aired. Our twin room was quite basic with carpet, curtains and furniture past their 'sell-by' date. The bathroom needed refurbishing but towels were white and changed daily. Housekeeping was excellent. On the whole the food was well-presented with a good choice. One disaster meal consisted of... more
