Great views, great hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and i have just returned home after spending 7 superb days. The hotel staff were first class as was the view from our hotel balcony. Our room was clean and spacious, the food different but good, and plenty of it. We enjoyed the walk to and from Limone, although some of the elderly people on our trip had to use the hotel minibus. If we return to Lake Garda we would most certainly stay at this Hotel again.

I have just returned from a week staying at this hotel. Wonderful views, excellent food and service. Good accomodation, but to see the lake you have to go down a steep hill, not good if you have trouble walking...otherwise very enjoyable holiday...would recommend it!

We have just returned from Lake Garda and the views from the hotel are fantastic the hotel food was appaling however the price we paid through Page and Moy was so good half board did not need to apply we would have paid that price for bed and breakfast. Our room was a good size and was always clean with a priceless view. Limone town centre is within easy reach and although a minibus is laid on by the hotel at a very small charge we never used it as it only takes ten minutes to walk into town and it is a lovely walk with excellent views of Lake Garda.Page and Moy are a good company to use as the tours they arrange for guests are very reasonably priced and very well organised we did Venice and Verona which were both excellent we organised visits to other towns around the lake ourselves just by buying boat tickets from the ticket office in the town. All in all an excellent holiday, great hotel if you eat out all the time which in my opinion is all part of going on holiday I would stay there again on a self catering basis no problem.I would even pay to go with Page And Moy on a half board basis again because in my opinion you're paying for Page And Moy service i.e experienced reps who know the country and not Michelin star catering you pay for that yourself by going out and spending money.
loved the hotel and lake

We have just returned from Hotel La Limonaia and had a wonderful time. The accommodation was above average and the food was good but a bit boring after a few days - but nice to come back to after a hard day's walking and touring. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the views are spectacular. The hotel is very clean and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. We would love to go back.
Accommodation

I spent a week at Hotel Limonaia in September with Page and Moy and thoroughly enjoyed it. The view was fantastic, the dining room staff very happy, friendly and helpful. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. In fact I have only one complaint and that is that the cards I posted in the hotel box on Page and Moy's table have still not been delivered in this country 14 days later. I wonder if this is a case of 8 cards being lost in the post or is the service exceptionally slow?
Great value if you book self-catering!
from KMcH
We don't really bother with package deals, so we booked La Limonaia online after booking cheap flights to Milan Bergamo (about 90 mins drive away). Booking directly with the hotel on the internet allows you to book a self-catering apartment instead of a room. After reading some of the reviews of the food on this site, this seemed like a good idea, and we got a bargain! For less than 40 Euros a night, we got an apartment which could easily have slept 6 although there were just 2 of us. 2 bedrooms & a living room/kitchen with sofa-bed! Views fantastic as everyone has said, bar reasonable and mini-bus cheap & reliable. If you get a chance to eat out in Limone, most places are great, but we really enjoyed Le Palme hotel where you can eat on a terrace over the water. Also try Jacky's bar for excellent cheap cocktails!
Spectacular Views.

September 10th 2004. Just returned from Limone sul Garda, and stopping in the Hotel La Limonaia. The views from the hotel were spectacular, however the hotel itself could do with some tender loving care, the rooms were basic but adequate and clean, the staff are very pleasant and helpful. However the food that was presented was very very poor, unappitising and repetative, this certainly showed the hotel in a bad light, the Mini Bus that is also provided by the Hotel should have been srapped years ago, it is an eight seater trying to serve the needs of an hotel catering for over 200-300 people.
excellent views

Views from the hotel were excellent; however, this did not compensate for the terrible food, both at breakfast and at dinner.

Stayed 12 - 19 August. Last minute booking in response to e-mail sent to me on 9 Aug. Staying here is a lottery. There are lots of different blocks of accommodation, and each block is on several floors. So you could be in an old block with a great view, or a new block with a view obscured by trees. We got a new room with great view. The couple we sgared a table with moved out after one day (nothing personal they assured us!) because they were very unimpressed. Lots of steps and, more dangerously, slopes. I fell on day 2 and cut my leg open - I'm not old and infirm. Food average to poor. Always a spaghetti starter, helkp your self salad bar, main course tiny piece of meat or fish with a few potatoes and dessert a packet mousse or fruit. Two sittings, 6.30 and 8.00. Main course not served until everyone ghas finished, so latecomers dictate how fast you are served. Can't charge anything to room during whole holiday. Eat out twice during stay. Minibus to/from town. Only seven seats, so multiple trips necessary to move people. Last bus at 11-ish from harbour back to hotel - except everyone wants it, so more like midnight. Car hire from hotel good rate. 110 euros for Mondeo ghia for 2 days. If you like boats, do the 10.40 departure from harbour to Sirmione. Whole day tour of the lake with 1.5 hours stop in Sirmione for 16 euros. Some people complained they had no hot water in room, no view (trees), shabby carpets (we had tiles in what appeared to be a newly re-furbished room). Now the price. If I had paid brochure price of £369, I wouldn't be happy. Everyone seemed to have booked late, at a huge variety of prices. £349, £329, £299 and £249. Me? I paid £199 per person 36 hours before departure. So much for being on Page and Moy's e-mail list. So I had a bargain, and I'd go again - at that price. But - luck of the draw.
We have just returned from two weeks at the Limonaia Hotel and must say we had a great time. The hotel is built into the side of the mountain with some realy spectacular views from almost every part of the hotel and the grounds, the rooms are spread out and some can be a... more
