Cristal Hotel

Carvoeiro is a great town centrally located on the Algarve with multiple beaches within walking distance. The hotel is about a mile east of town, which has lots of restaurants to choose from. The hotel employees were very helpful, but the place still only ranks as a three star establishment. The beds were akin to wood wrapped in sheets (uncomfortable in the extreme), there are no hairdryers and it is impossible to hook up laptops to the internet. As I read on your website it's not a 4 star hotel but 3.However it's pretty neat, people are nice, prices are good, swimming pools are great, views are awsome...The only negative point was definively the meals, little variety and small quantity of food, especially for dinner. 8 / 10 overall

We were there for ten days last week and when we arrived, got a bad feeling. The hotel is dated and when we went to our room, it too was basic and old in style. Our aircon was broken on the first night and despite an engineer calling up to room, he could not fix until the next day. It was BBQ night on the first night which was okay outside at the pool. Flew with excel airways into faro airport, recommend not to fly with XL not a very good airline atall !!!! Got to the hotel not expecting what i saw,lovely big two level apartments away from everything ,on a lovely cliff top over looking the wonderfull beach two minutes from the hotel. The hotel overall was fab clean,very organised and welcoming. Lots of on site facilities in door pool and jacuzzi. 10-15 min walk into carverio town which was lovely nice restaurants and bars no clubs or trouble like most places now!.Quite expensive though .... more

Paid for 4 star expecting 4 star. More like three star. Breakfast did not live up to expectations. Was thinking not going to breakfast after few days as it was not inspiring. Hardly any fresh fruits or tasty cakes. Hot food tasted a bit like it was prepered in a canteen. Hot drinks were self service via a vending machine hmmm. Hotel clearly three stars!(et not four) It does not have there advertising chairs Pepsi-Cola in one 4 stars! Bad organization: not a sofa, not an armchair of free around the swimming pool at the beginning of August. It is necessary to be lifted to a height of 7 hours of the morning and to hold its armchair with a essuie! more like a 3 star. Lots of petty penny pinching like charging for pool towels, which on occasions had seen better days. Towels only changed in your room every 3rd day (although I think ours were changed more often than this). States tea and coffee making facilities - you get an electric hob and a whistling kettle which takes half an hour to boil, no coffee and tea so go buy your own. The Cristal hotel is certainly the best hotel I have ever stayed in in the whole of the Algarve! It is set in peaceful surroundings with great views of the Atlantic and has some of the most friendly and helpful staff that you will ever meet. The pool area is quiet and peaceful, the restaurant provides excellent choice and the bedrooms are all very well equipted. A highly appointed holiday hotel, with all rooms air conditioned - essential for us as the temperature was high 30's during our stay. The rooms are well appointed, with refridgerators in them. The pools (3) are beautifully kept, with ample sun-bed availability - no need to reserve with a towel here! The town of Carvoeiro is too far to walk, but the hotel provide transport to and from the town square in their mini bus. Or it's about 4 euro in a taxi. I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Cristal. It's quiet and peaceful. The staff were helpful and the rooms spacious and cool. There are fantastic cliff top walks as the shore reveals hidden cove after hidden cove. The local beaches are sweet and the town lively and friendly. Much more of an intimate atmosphere here, than anywhere else on the Algarve. So if you want a peaceful holiday with all the conveniences then go there. I also recommend the zebra safari, a great day out in the mountains.
