Top holiday at Ei oceano
We stayed at the Eloceano last year had the most amazing holiday, I even have the picture taken from my room overlooking the med as my screen saver. The place is just the whats needed in todays hectic lifestyle sheer quality. Great spa area to unwind, openair jaquzzi, cocktails round the pool, top quality resturant. Real sunday lunch I could go on and on. Going back on the 8th september and we cant wait.
Absolutely Wonderful, ignore negative reviews
After reading some of the recent reviews for this hotel I felt compelled to put in my own 2 cents. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in the beginning of June and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we walked through the door we were showered with fantastic service. We checked in 2 hours early, but they had checked our flight times and made sure that we had a beautiful clean minisuite ready on arrival. The hotel has one of the most fantastic locations I have seen. Its the best combination of being close enough to the sea to hear the waves but still having a gorgeous sand-free pool to cool off in. One of the best features of the hotel has to be the fact that they do not allow children under 14 in the pool area. You would not believe what a difference this makes when you are sleeping on your sunlounger:) The food is very well done, if not a little overpriced but when you are on sitting in the sun, having a superbly done sunday roast and listening to fantastic live music you struggle to care. My husband I travel quite a bit and have stayed in beach front hotels with 5 stars where you feel like you are a sausage. At the El Oceno you feel special while still being able to enjoy luxury without the pretence. I would recommend this hotel to any couple who needs a relaxing and fun weekend away. I can honestly say upon returning home I was well and truly refreshed.
fantasic location and great staff!
Friday to Tuesday stay in a mini suite. Lots of staff Irish and very helpful, we didnt have any problems with anyone at all. The view from the room and the sun beds was just wonderful, a perfect beach location. The food was really good and we know about food! We know about views of the ocean too and this is one of the best. It wasn't cheap but then we didn't go expecting it to be. Tip - don't bother with car hire, you can go through the fantastic front door and not go anywhere else for 5 whole days. Lastly... everywhere we go, i always have spa treatments. If you need or enjoy massage to relieve aches, pains or just to help unwind, i cannot recommend Natasha highly enough. I had two of the best body massages i have ever had AND she was helpful with advice. Our only tip for this superb hotel - provide a newspaper in the mornings!! Sunday times please to go with the fantastic sunday lunch! Then it really would be perfect. We have already booked to go back, it is such an easy way to spend a long weekend away. Well done to the owners!
how rude!
A group of us girls stayed here for a hen weekend in May 2007 and although the hotel itself is beautiful, the staff were unfriendly and at times even rude. The weather was bad and the indoor pool and jacuzzi were not heated. When we complained they told us it was beacuase it was outdoor weather now even though it was raining heavily. One girl lost her purse and cancelled a booked treatment but was forced to pay 50% even though between the whole group we spent thousands over a couple of days. When we complained to the owner and said we would be potential regular visitors as we only live a short distance away, he said it didn't matter as the hotel was always fully booked. We were shocked at his attiitude. The staff had a way of making you feel as though they were doing you the favour for letting you stay at their hotel. We will not return.
Management response from eloceano 03 Jun 2007

El Oceano prides itself on the level of service and guest satisfaction. It is with regret that we have incurred negative feedback. However we have no option but to put the record straight. The previous two responses regarding bad service and attitude is unjustified. Unfortunately the ladies in question cancelled multiple spa treatments only moments before the treatments were booked. The Spa make it very clear that any cancellations will be charged at 50% unless 24 hours notice is given. Consequently the beauty therapists could not rebook those last minute cancellations and so lost a full days business. Obviously the therapists prefer to conduct the treatments rather than have last minute cancellations and hence loss of earnings. As the clients were justifiably charged 50% of those treatments booked they some how feel dissappointed and so posted a negative response. Through no fault of our own we have had negative feedback and feel it is unwarranted.

Disgraceful Service!!!
I have just come back from this Hotel and felt myself compelled to write a review. It must be said that it is a stunning hotel in a stunning location with beautiful views, wonderful food and fabulous cocktails! In addition the Spa treatments are out of this world. BUT..... I have never experienced such rudeness and unhelpfulness from so many members of Staff in one place! From receptionists to owners to waitresses to waiters to cleaners! They were the most unhelpful and rude hotel employees I have ever met in my life. Examples range from refusing to order a taxi for airport collection to waiters waving hands in the air and making sarcastic gestures and remarks constantly! Everything was a hassle for them! They certainly don’t make you feel special there! More like a nuisance! In addition the heater on the indoor pool and Jacuzzi was turned off and cold when we arrived despite the fact that it was pouring down with rain outside. When we asked them to heat them it was of course a hassle and I had to point out the fact that it was a Hotel and Spa and it should not be turned off, people had travelled a long way to enjoy the facilites! I recommend anyone thinking of going there thinks twice and looks into going somewhere where they will receive a level of service that they should expect!
Incredible !
We have just returned from a week at El Oceano Beach Hotel and I seriously cannot think of a single detrimental thing to say. Everything, the rooms, the pool area, the food, the staff, the impeccable service, all absolutley flawless. We checked in early which was no problem to the staff, and asked if we could change the room to one on the first floor as we preferred a balcony. Glenn the manager dealt with us straight away and took our luggage from us and opened us a tab at the pool bar. Half an hour later he returned to tell us our new room was ready and showed us to it. It wasn't even midday yet ! I organised a 30th birthday for my girlfriend with her parents arriving as surprise guests, the staff were great at helping me with it, the table, the cake, even happy birthday sung by Dean Martin ! On the final night we had a problem with the bathroom window. We were brought a complimentary bottle of wine by the owners, and told that the staff were moving our things to another room. I said this wasn't necessary as we were checking out in the morning, as a result one nights charge was deducted from the bill, you really can't say fairer than that. We feel we cannot compliment the entire staff enough for a truly memorable and fantastic holiday, everywhere is immaculately clean, the level of service is truly amazing, nothing is too much trouble, everyone always has a smile, and you are made to feel really special. We will definitely be returning later in the year, I am sure the first of many times. Best wishes, Brad and Emma.
Fabulous Little Gem!!
Lovely hotel, fabulous atmosphere, full of charm, rooms/linen etc lovely and clean, restaurant and bar areas are great , service is good and food was delicious. Good evening music. Great location seems to be 15 minutes from everywhere! We had room 2 with its Egyption theme, lovely spacious room, large bathroom, nice balcony with jucuzzi. Tiny litle things 1) Room backed on to staff entrance/car park/kitchen and was a bit noisy at times although fabulous side sea view made up for it. 2) Sun wasnt on the balcony much after midday, not great for jucuzzi or if your a sun worshipper! 3) Balcony area including furniture/jucuzzi was a bit grubby although considering how clean the rest of the hotel was I can only imagine this is because it was early season and the balcony may not have been used recently. 4) Book the restaurant early if you are looking to eat in the restaurant friday, saturday or sunday to avoid dissappointment (double check that reception have put you on the booking form for the correct evening!!) All of these tiny things aside we look forward to returning and trying some other rooms!!!
Relaxing but be careful!!
The hotel location is fantastic and overlooks the sea, literally. Room 3 (good size) is the left hand end of the hotel with the sea a small stone's throw from the hotel balcony. To fall asleep with the sound of the waves below is great and very relaxing. However, be careful because this room is above the kitchen and as a a result, is not the quietest. This was really unfortunate because the atmosphere of the hotel makes you relax but it doesn't work if you can't sleep. Also, despite being told otherwise there is live music every night going on till midnight and later some nights. Again, if you need or want sleep, can be a problem because it is also loud! Be careful when choosing your room. The food at the hotel was superb, we tried both lunch and dinner. I wouldn't say it was the cheapest but great all the same.
Wedding
We had our wedding at this hotel in 2005, which was perfect. The hotel staff, especailly Glynn the manager was brilliant and was there for us all the time. We have since stayed at this hotel 3 times and are going back this year. It is like paradise hidden away. Unless you know it is there, you could easily miss it. It is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, peaceful, relaxing, beautiful surroundings, and nothing is too much trouble there. The rooms are lovely and the food is to die for. Would definetly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a romantic, relaxing holiday.
Our perfect romantic hideaway in the sun
My partner and I have been here 3 times now and it remains one of the best hotels we have ever visited. The food is fantasic (we love eating outside on the Terrace in the summer evenings), the views are breathless and the pool and surroundings are equally as wonderful. Last time round, we splashed out on a Jacuzzi suite as it was a very special occasion. The room was actually no better than the mini suites but it had the jacuzzi bath in the room which although very nice, does not really make it worth the extra money in our opinion. I agree with the other review that it is a pity the front of the hotel is so uninspiring but maybe that is the point - we can keep it as a closely guarded secret!! lastly, (and we do tell the staff this) we both go home with a fairly bad back after leaving as the beds (and we have tried 3 rooms now) are very hard if you have a bd back and it's hard to sleep comfortably for very long. At least it makes us get up and enjoy the weather which is always lovely even in the winter months. We love this hotel.
