Azurro Hotel
, Sunny BeachAzurro Hotel Reviews
Me and my girlfriend stayed in Azurro hotel in July for 2 weeks and we found it very nice. The staff was helpful , the room was lovely with a great pool view . Breakfast and dinner were very delicious. Definately will come back again in the same resort and hotel. Strongly recommend this hotel.
The pool is simply brilliant and cleaned every single day.
The hotel is situated just 1-2 min walk from the pretty beach and very close to the center of the resort.

As with most of the other reviews, I'll agree to say that, while being a little shabby, Sunny Beach has everything a British holidaymaker could ask for. After staying in Santa Ponsa countless times, Tenerife, Salou etc I wanted a change and after a little consideration chose Sunny Beach Bulgaria. I would go again, but choose a different hotel.
If you've got the time to keep reading I'll not bore you, so here's some fast facts about Azurro:
- Rooms are clean, but nothing spectacular. Beds changed everyday, which was a plus.
- Staff were unhelpful, and, as expected, didn't speak much English (mainly German) so we couldn't ask many questions or for information.
- Weather in Sunny Beach was very unpredictable, although me and the girlfriend did stay in September so that is justifiable.
- The town of Sunny Beach itself is fantastic in my opinion. Shops are good, pubs are great, however the food is rather poor.
- Locals come across being ignorant, but I think it’s just their custom.
- We decided to visit the Turkish capital Istanbul while in Sunny Beach. Buses leave twice a week from bus stops throughout SB. We left at 9.00pm Friday night and arrived at 5.30am Saturday morning! Not a bad tour though.
All in all, Sunny Beach is a good destination; I preferred it to Spain or Portugal. With some time and work spent on it in a few years Sunny Beach will be a great family holiday. I would definitely go back again, but in a different hotel, but if like me, you've already booked Azurro without checking this site out don't be expecting it to be bad! At the end of the day it’s a bed and free breakfast (which IS pretty dodgy!) :-)

Hotel azurro very poor, food absolutely not worth eating, my husband said he wouldn’t feed it to farm animals.
Our bed linen was only changed once in two weeks our daughters and granddaughters not at all, towels were grimy not white as they should be, all the staff were extremely unfriendly, the pool and pool area was not very well maintained, the sun loungers were not to bad.
Myself, my husband, our daughter and grandson all had very bad upset stomachs for the whole two weeks, people we got talking to were also not very happy. Ok the room was cleaned every day, but not very well. Our room overlooked a piece of grass, but in fact the whole hotel looked as if it needed a lot of renovation and work done on it.
New beds would be nice, as the mattresses we slept on were very stained. We will not be going back to the azurro hotel again. Bulgaria itself is nice but still a bit behind the rest of Europe.
At least the weather was ok; we had to go out most days as we couldn’t bear to stay round the hotel, as you were watched like hawks by the staff. I hope this is not too bad but it is how my family all felt.

No complaints about sunny beach itself but staff in Azurro hotel very unhelpful and no nice welcome when arriving or leaving. On leaving staff demanded to know where I had left TV remote and were quite rude in front of all other guests, but must have found it as they never returned.
They waited until my sister-in law was about to board bus for home when chamber maid approached with management, with bed sheet in hand demanding payment for stained sheet, that the say had been caused by a henna tattoo my nephew had done a couple of days before. A few guests had commented on how their sheets had been stained as well, and assumed it had been dampness so why did they only approach one family.
This has put me off ever returning to Azurro hotel in future, although staff at Azurro barbeque(which is different workers) were absolutely brilliant to all of us and good fun.

Stay away from this hotel if you want comfort, cleanliness or polite staff. The rooms are small we were on the ground floor and the balcony overlooked a brick wall.
Bedding not changed at all in the week neither were the towels until we practically snatched some clean ones out of the maids hand! Staff are too busy chatting amongst themselves and smoking to give any attention to guests. Pool area is not particularly clean and sunbeds are in a poor state of repair. The breakfast is very basic with limited choice and often the cutlery or teabags or pots would run out and you were left waiting until the staff could find a moment in their busy social schedule to bring some. The staff in the Azurro Grill were different again - polite and helpful.
Location of the hotel is good as it is within reach of the resort centre and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around. The brochure advertised it as 3* I would not rate this as even a 2*. We have been to Bulgaria three times now and this is positively the worst experience we have had - we wont be returning.

Sunny Beach is a holiday resort so filled with bars, restaurants and shops selling fake designer goods. It is all a bit shabby but there’s lots of building work going on so will probably improve with time.
All food and drink is very cheap. One night we went out for dinner and then went clubbing till 4 in the morning and spent about £20 each. There are many Germans visiting the resort so food choices tend to be geared for them. The food was always very nice but as a vegetarian I struggled to find much to eat other than omelettes and pizza.
The beach at Sunny Beach is lovely and clean. There are miles of sand and the water is warm and clear. The weather was good and although cloudy some days it usually brightened up in the afternoons. It was still warm when cloudy.
The Hotel Azurro was very disappointing. The rooms are small and there is hardly any storage space. Although the maid visited everyday they didn’t change our bed linen all week. A family in the room next to us hadn’t had their linen changed in the fortnight they had been there. The pool was freezing and most of the sunloungers were broken or tied together with string.
There was no lift and no one to help with cases. The reception staff were extremely rude and when the key to our hotel room broke in the lock the first thing the receptionist asked for was money. When I refused and said I wanted to see the manager she changed her mind and managed to sort it out without the benefit of my cash! I felt as if I was being ripped off. The bar staff are friendly as is most of the people in Bulgaria but they think we all earn fortunes (probably do compared to them) so they do try it on a bit. I have been told that 18-30's holidays are starting in 2006 which may change this friendly family orientated resort.
Although I would recommend Bulgaria for a cheap holiday I would certainly warn anyone from staying at the Azurro if they are looking for anything above a 2* hotel.

Sunny Beach is a very lively resort with lots to do for kids & 18-30's. There is a long beachfront of over 6Km lined with clubs, pubs, market stalls & various types of entertainment.
If you like bungee jumping off a trampoline & riding automated bulls this can be your Mecca. There are various themed restaurants such as pirate ships & castles & you can even enjoy cocktails whilst sitting on a four poster bed.
The pedestrianized beach walkway is so extensive that many people hire electric scooters, electric cars, or 4 person bikes to get around.
There are various watersports activities on the beach including parasending, boat & Jet Ski hire.
Prices to eat out are very cheap & you can easily enjoy a 3 course meal with wine for £5. There are also a plethora of shops where you can cheap clothes & fake designer watches or sunglasses.
If you like Magalluf this is it on a much larger scale only cheaper!
Avoid the many currency exchange booths, which are likely to rip you off & change your Sterling at a bank.
The Azurro Hotel is reasonably priced & close to the beach & the centre of the action, however the rooms are quite small, there are no lifts & it is noisy in the evenings. It is an old hotel, recently refurbished, but still showing its age in some areas. There are newer, much larger hotels in the new, and rapidly expanding section of the town.

I was there in previous holiday with my girlfriend and we were very pleased. Chose there a bit skeptical, Bulgaria decided to choose the price - much lower than in Spain. But is not disappointed. Hotel very clean, bar within hotel, good food. The biggest plus is the large pool at the hotel, and of course the location of the hotel, practically right next to the promenade. Just a revelation, 100 meters from the beach. I highly recommend
