Stayed in Peyda Appartments paid for B/B had breakfast for 1st 3 days last 4 days they had run out of food and had no money to buy any so we had to go naxt door to cafe to buy our breakfast. This was the worst place you could imagine to stay we had no water or electric for 2 days could not flush the toilet so we had to carry buckets of water from pool up 5 flights of stairs to flush toilet. The whole place was filthy rubbish in the stairwells pool closed it was green and water was infected no clean sheets or towels no cleaner for the week we stayed, the one cleaner that was there could not cope with all the work on her own it was not her fault loads of turkish male workers but they did abserlutely nothing around the grounds. Everywhere needed cleaning the acting manager stated he had informed the tour companies it was due to close on 30th sept but they were still sending people there. We phoned Travel Republic and got no help from them at all I explained we had not seen a rep and the contact details given to for Med hotels were un-obtainable the line was constantly engaged the phone must of been left off the hook. We had to go and book into a hotel across the road which was nice and different class. We have since learnt the Peyda was a 2 star hotel it was more like a 1 star when we booked the hotel Travel Republic had it as a 3 star hotel no way would I book a 2 star hotel knowingly. This was the 1st time I have booked with this company and it will be the last time thats for sure they just did'nt want to know we felt totally abandoned by them. We have been going to Turkey for many years and stay in Ichmeler which is totally the oppersite it is beautifull there if this was the 1st time in Turkey I would never go back there as 1st impressions of a place could realy put people off we will be going back to Turkey but never to Altinkum the area is 3rd world, the main beach is laden with rubbish the 2nd and 3rd beach is better but nothing special there are packs of dogs roaming everywhere aswell. Taxi drivers are keen to rip you off and no effort is put in on the boat trips the food was also poor on the boat trip, there is realy nothing that you would want to go back there for. The one good thing about it was we used 2 restaurants Chicos bar the food and service from the staff were both exceptional realy nice genuine people and the same with the Parosol bar apart from this it was a nightmare holiday and we could'nt wait to leave and get back home. We noticed there was new appartment blocks for sale everywhere you looked and estate agent offices they were all empty, (I WONDER WHY) the blocks looked nice but all around them the grounds were all wasteland there is no landscaping anywhere you go in Altinkum. I would advise anyone dont go to Altinkum, we love Ichmeler and will return there next year there is just no comparison at all, the weather there is also different it rained 2 days and was cloudy for 3 days the weather there is not garenteed sunshine in september.
Most of all though we blame the Travel Republic they advertised it as 3 star when it clearly was'nt and they knowingly took bookings for the hellhole of a place, they should be disgusted with themselves for ruining peoples holiday and taking peoples hard earned cash under false pretenses they shoud be stopped from trading full stop.

All I can say is that I found a lot of other comments that have been made totally unfounded.
First of all, we were in Turkey and people need to remember that there standards are different to that in the UK. And also, of you got a holiday for 4 for £600 like us, you cannot expect the Hilton.
However our apartment was yes basic, but spotlessly clean. The maid came everyday at 4pm, she was so regular you could set your watch by her. Bedding and towels were changed 3 times during our seven night stay.
The food in the hotel was not only delicious, it was reasonably priced.
The pools were immaculately clean, however beware the french tourists who think that they own all the sunloungers and umbrellas.
Neil, the welsh co owner was absolutely lovely and would do anything he could to make sure an enjoyable time was had by all and his staff, who worked under CJ were impecibally turned out, well mannered and spoke much better English to what I could speak turkish.
Reception staff were helpful and even rang our Transfer company for us to do the return confirmation, knowing that language could be a barrier.
I would completely reccomend this aparthotel and say to people who want to go to Turkey and expect 5 star, put your hands in your pocket and pay for it. But if you want a cheap holiday, no frills but clean and handy for Dolphin Square, this is the place for you.

This holiday was the best, the staff were very entertaining and did their best to keep everyone happy. The food was very reasonable and tasted great. Ok the rooms were not that great but what do you want for this price. My children loved staying in the hotel, they even learned how to break dance. The staff did their best to keep everyone happy all the time. Naim was really friendly making sure our family enjoyed their holiday. Yes this is a very basic hotel but the staff will go out of their way to give you what you want. It is very close to the town centre you can either walk or get the regular small mini bus for next to nothing. There are small shops close by and what ever restaraunt you want to go to, their staff will pick you up and drop you back to the hotel for free. You are well looked after in Altinkum. Can't wait to go back this year.

Just arrived back from a week's diving in Altinkum. Obviously the season's just about to start so not all bars, hotels etc. were open during my stay. The weather was great for most of the week (high 20's, low 30's) but did break with a severe storm all day 27th April.
The Peyda Apts offered the usual type of self catering accommodation found in this area, and was clean and comfortable. The staff at the Peyda were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food in the restaurant was of a very good standard and well presented.
For those who have visited Altinkum before there are some changes this year. The famous "Deniz restaurant" (trading for the last 27 years) has gone!
This was due to the expiry of their lease, and probably the potential future development of the "third beach" area in conjunction with the new marina. The Penguin bar is still there, so there’s still the option of food, drinks and ice cream etc on the beach during the daytime.
The Beach club marina (below the Didim beach hotel) is under new ownership, and this year will be open to the general public with a proposed admission charge of 5 TL including a free soft drink. This is a fantastic place to chill out and catch a few rays!
The good news for former customers of Deniz restaurant is that Hakan ("Ali G") will be managing the Marina restaurant (owned by Hussein who also owns the Sky bar opposite the Esra apts), so I guess it will be very similar to the high standards we all enjoyed at Deniz.
The Marina restaurant is located on the beach road, between the Luna Park and the Didim beach hotel. They will operate a pickup service from just about anywhere in the area or why not just drop into the Sky bar for a drink, and Hussein or his staff will arrange a transfer to the restaurant for you.
The Dolphin square area seems to be pretty much the same, just with a few redesigned bars.
If you've always wanted to try SCUBA diving then Okenos Diving is a good safe place to start. They operate throughout the season and have a beachside location (third beach under the Beach club marina) and an office (opposite the Chill out bar). They are PADI & CMAS registered with British and Turkish instructors, and deliver a highly professional service. You will probably see them conducting pool demonstrations at many major hotels in the resort during the summer.
Altinkum really has something for everyone from the bars and nightclubs in town to the quiet out-of-town restaurants.
That's why so many of us go back year after year!

PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE ON HOLIDAY!!!!
From the moment we arrived at this Hell Hole, things went from bad to worse.
Filthy rooms, Filthy Pools, Filthy bed linen & towels, stained beds, Filthy Showers and Toilets, ant infestation, Bare wires Within Reach of Children, Furniture held together with Cellotape, Curtains hanging of rails,... The list goes on and on...
The staff were young men who went out of their way to try and 'pull' either of our young teenage daughters. The girls are quiet and this constant bartering was very unwelcome. My husband done so well to stay calm, I did have to put one lad firmly in his place though. I never ever thought I would have to protect my children even while we sunbathed!
On the only night we stayed at the apartments, one of the bar men set my sons cocktail on fire while he was drinking it! The bar man then decided to dance/slip off the bar and ended up knocking our son off his chair. We had to leave or I'm sure we would have not been responsible for our actions that evening.
Please don't subject your family to this horror holiday!!!!!

This was not my first time to Turkey , I love the country and the people , but i will never go to the Peyda Aqua Apartments, Altimkum ever again.
The bar staff were helpful and friendly and the food wasn't too bad but the complex itself well where do I start? First impressions, the place looks grubby but when we got to our apartments we were all shocked at the state of the place - it was filthy. Balls of hair and dirt in the corners of the rooms and under the beds and even under the mattress cover in the double room had blood stains on it! The bath room was in my opinion a health hazard with mould on the ceiling and brown stains and water running down the shower from the apartment above. We waited three days for a working kettle, the shower head sprayed everywhere apart from where it should. The towel and bedding was no better , not enough towels and bedding that never fitting the beds. We reported all these problems to the receptionist (Adam) And The vision Holiday rep who's name escapes me. We asked for another apartment but there were none available . We were told, with a lack lustre attitude, that it was no problem and it would be sorted.
Over the next three days we all became very angry as nothing seemed to be happening. However, it did get sorted only because we purchased cleaning products and cleaned the place up ourselves, my wife was on her hands and knees and scrubbed the bathroom floor and walls. I don't think the cleaner missed them because I don't think she ever used them.
I could go on and on about all the problems but you would get bored of reading it. I will just say that these problems were not isolated. There was the family from Liverpool who were bitten to death by flees and the Irish lady from Ponefract who never had any hot water for two weeks, in fact everyone we spoke to had some sort of problem. Oh I nearly forgot both pools were closed for two days as they were very cloudy. Things got better when the pool man came back from his honeymoon. The pool area was never cleaned properly the whole time we were there.
