Me and my girlfriend went to oasis...
8 / 10
Jan 2008, Mr R Hodgetts

Me and my girlfriend went to oasis dunas on a last minute deal. We thought the hotel was fab for the money we paid (£220) The rooms were very clean which were cleaned regularlary. The only grumble is they didn't give us enough towels, and they are abit small. We were self-catering so we can't comment on the food.
We recommend the sangria in the hotel bar, which is on tap!
If you want a good steak head down to the plaza stake house. For pudding get a crepe from near the mini-golf, they are gorgeous!
Overall we had a fab time, and would definately go back again.

When I first looked at the exterior...

Jan 2008, Miss G Cuthbertson

When I first looked at the exterior of the Oasis Dunas I was not impressed but when I went inside I was amazed; it was lovely. The reception staff were very pleasant and spoke great English.
We found our apartment easily even though it was really big. The only thing I didn't like was the furniture as it was broken and marked. The pool area was massive and as it was a winter holiday we found the heated pool very useful!
The beaches were terrible but what can you expect from a volcanic island? There were lots of restaurants but the Chinese is a great bargain! The Mexican restaurants are a bit pricey but the food is of a great quality! We went most nights to The Venue which was a small pub, but had cheap drink, a quiz every night, a playstation 2 for the kids and not forgetting JC the singing dog!
Overall, I would definitely go back and I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Maybe, if I go again it will be a summer holiday!!!

Jan 2008, Miss N Beetison

The apartments are good but my bedroom was on the shady side and very cold. Had trouble keeping warm at night. My friend who slept on the sofa bed was sweltering and didn’t believe me how cold my room was until I made him stay in it.
Cleanliness was good. We did have problems with dirty rusty water for 1 week of our 2 week stay. Everyone had the problem. We were told it was pipe works down the road. Not nice having to wash in dirty water. We also had a bad ant problem. One night we came back from an eye out and I fancied a snack. So I put my hand into a packet of crisps and came out with a hand covered in ants!
When the main light was put on we could see a trail of hundreds of them to the table, up the table leg and into the crisp bag. Not very nice at all. The cleaners gave us some insect spray which worked very well but we had to spray room every day. The pool was great and the poolside bar/cafe a nice place to while away the hours.
Corralejo is a large lively town with great bars and restaurants. The restaurant Poco Loco is great. The staff are very entertaining and the food is wonderful. We went back there a few times. Our favourite bar is Tatoos'n'Booze. Only for people who like rock. Very friendly owner and staff. If you like that kind of music it’s the best place in town.
There’s 1 other thing you have to get used to in Fuerte and that’s the constant wind! It can be quite strong and cool.
I definitely want to go again.

I have been going to Fuerteventura...
10 / 10
Jan 2008, Miss S Coles

I have been going to Fuerteventura for 7 years and every visit has been to Oasis Dunas, Corralejo. My parents are totally in love with the island and have recently bought a villa there. I have to agree that I enjoy every visit too.
The hotel is perfect... the pool is huge, loads of room to sunbathe, has its own bar, small supermarket and provides all the facilities needed. The main town is only a 5 minute walk round the corner, as well as the beach too.
The residents are so friendly and its such a wonderful place to go. Every year without fail, I always have an extremely good time. And Corralejo also hosts the best restaurant ever! It is called the Andaluz and the food is just... out of this world!! Look it up if you plan going there because it is amazing!
Fuerteventura is perfect.
Well worth a trip!

It was my first time to the canaries...
9 / 10
Jan 2008, Miss L Paolosi

It was my first time to the canaries and Spain after having been to Italy and Greece all my life and I was a little nervous, but I fell in love with the place when I arrived.
It's such a family orientated place! great for children, this hotel was full of happy kids, they all made friends straight away and the plenty of pools in the complex meant they didn’t get in your way.
It's quite a noisy place in the daytime, so if you want peace and quiet, go the other way. Music and reps around all the time. The pools were great!!! but they are salt water.
Beware of the weather, being dark skinned I didn’t think it would be such a problem but my whole party peeled and burned like crazy!!!! take factor 30, nothing less. The weather was boiling, but at the same time quite windy so you don't notice your burning. it does go cold, so take a jacket.
The Pizza take away there seemed great, so you could watch the kids entertainment and eat at the same time, but outdoors, but if it's raining, the act is moved into the pub (which doesn't have enough seats for 1/8 of the guests) so if you think it's going to rain, get there early!
The staff weren't friendly, but weren't rude. they just did their jobs.
It only rained one night, never in the day, and the restaurants were fantastic in Corralejo!! Food was fantastic, there was this amazing steak house by the beach (not Waikiki, which seemed a rip off compared to it) I can't remember its name but its next to an Italian. It was Beautiful.
The beach was clean but like all of Spain expensive to stay on.
The shops were amazing, so many from designer to junk, great boots like store with cheap aloe Vera moisturiser which you will need!
If you have long hair, you will be pounced on by Africans wanting to plait you- but of course as the charming lady told my sister 'because you sexy girl, you get special price!' but her bands broke before the end of the holiday and she had to have them done again, if you want them to go home with, wait until the last day.
Over all, as a family holiday It is perfect! kids aged 3-11 I think would be in heaven, but if you’re a couple looking for good bars and adult entertainment, don't bother.
The only reason I didn’t give it a ten is because of the weather... but I can imagine there are better times of year to go.
You will love it!

I gave this a rating of 9 because I...
9 / 10
Dec 2007, Mr C.J Ottey

I gave this a rating of 9 because I wasn't happy with having to lose my way to the apartment. It took me three days to learn my way around the campus. It could've been more clearly laid out, maybe some coloured lines on the walkways that you'd follow to get to your block and the loan of a cheap LED torch that's attached to the keys that guests could use at night.
Short of that I had a fantastic time. I cannot find a negative. I met and spoke with a lot of fellow tourists while I was there, the only two complaints I had was of the meals served there weren't the best ever had (what did they expect going full board?). There was plenty of child/adult, economically priced places to get a great meal without leaving the main road.
Not 500meters out of the main entrance is a well stocked supermarket not to count the one on site. The prices for familiar foods (baked beans, ravioli, and coke) are a bit high but that was only to be expected. The apartment itself was spotless and was regularly cleaned every other day and the towels were changed regardless of use. I can see where you could get an infestation of ants if you were careless.
The staff bend over to be helpful especially Patricio from the lobby bar whom is a real great guy and helped me and my family with advice and tips from the first night we arrived (he also mixes the best sangria, had to mention it). Greg from the bar opposite the courtyard pizzeria (ex brit) is also a great guy to ask for advice or direction.
My wife and two daughters loved the accommodation (we had a balcony), use plenty of repellent as the mosquitoes are relentless (citronella works) and you cannot possibly sleep with the windows shut.
I could rant on all day, but I won't. What I will say is, if you're after a place to stay while on holiday, you could do a lot worse than stay here. I'd go back tomorrow.

Just landed back from Fuerteventura...
5 / 10
Dec 2007, Ms A Hurst

Just landed back from Fuerteventura tonight and can honestly say it was disappointing.
We usually go to Lanzarote but opted for a change this year really wish we hadn’t!
The complex I have to say was lovely with great facilities and really helpful reception staff and the room was lovely and clean and very spacious.
Corralejo was a different story, grotty and full of British pubs and no decent beaches unless you walk for miles or get a taxi. The few in the centre were tiny and a real let down especially for those with kids. The dunes are ok but too far to go every day so if you want to sunbathe stay around the pool.
Everywhere you go you get menus and flyers or people trying to get you in the pubs and restaurants what a total pain. The only place I would recommend is the slow boat V Chinese on the corner where we ate loads as the food, service and staff were exceptional. Hot towels, plate decorations sculpted from carrots, gifts and going for taxis in the rain for customers were only some of the lovely touches we witnessed, and the food was so so lovely and reasonably priced as well.
Everywhere you looked there was building sites and cranes and absolutely nothing to see. Next year back to Lanzarote for the beaches, scenery and hopefully a better holiday all round.
Going to Corallejo has definitely put us off going back to Fuerteventura as it was so much like Blackpool with sun. In my opinion better places to go and the rating is only 5 because of the complex we stayed in and the slow boat Chinese!

Me and my partner (23 & 27) stayed in...
9 / 10
Nov 2007, Miss K Willson

Me and my partner (23 & 27) stayed in these apartments for 1 week in November. We found the reception very helpful upon arrival (and throughout the holiday), and were given a map to our room. The complex can be very confusing as it has loads of paths going in any direction. Our room was clean and of a decent size. The only thing we didn't like was the fact that the balconies are not very private. The wall separating the balconies was only a metre or so high.
The complex has lots and lots of sunbeds and a huge pool. But the pool is VERY cold! I only went in it a couple of times. We had lunch at the pool bar a couple of times which was ok, not excellent but ok. The supermarket on the complex has everything you could need, but it is only small. And I found this a lot cheaper than the Netto supermarkets.
We did not eat in the restaurant or drink in the sports bar, so cannot comment, but we popped our head in the sports bar once and it has a huge tv (projector screen) so I would imagine it would be an ideal place to watch the footy! :)
The complex isn't too far away from the main street where you find restaurants and bars and the shops. It takes about 10 minutes walking to get right in the middle of it all. There are a lot of places where you can get a full english breakfast, we tried one at Penny Lane. This was ok, but the plate was full of water and oil on the bottom of the plate, so we didn't go here again. We next tried a brekky at Flintstones Bar. This is actually in the opposite direction to the centre (turn left out of hotel). It's a bout a 10 min walk and it's on it's own with a supermarket. The breakfast was lovely! However it was shut a couple of mornings, so we went back to the main centre and got a brekky from an english place called Picasso's. It's in the main square where you find the bars.
We never had a bad meal in Corralejo. However the Mexican we had wasn't very good. It is in another little square which looks like it is under a marquee. If you want a nice steak then get to El Toro. Reasonable prices (10.50 e for fillet steak). We went there twice, but it gets very busy and tables a re quite close together.
As the harbour is close by, there are plenty of restaurants offering fresh fish food, I am not into fish really so I had a pasta dish whilst my partner had grilled salmon, and he said it was really good!
The beaches near the complex are small and sandy, but I think they have rocks in the sea. We walked up to a beach along the coast. You can get a bus but we walked. It is pretty far so we got a taxi back. We walked through 2 nudist beaches on the way :oS. The beach is near a hotel in the middle of nowhere and near the sand dunes. Lovely white soft sand and turquoise sea!
We saw a turtle washed up on shore whilst we were here, so someone let it back in the sea! The beaches are very windy and we were covered in sand. So we ended up sunbathing on a sunbed, rather than on the sand. This cost 9euros for 2 of us. There isn't really anywhere to eat there, so have a filling meal before hand or take a packed lunch. On the way back, we waited 45 mins for a bus, and the queue was huuuuge. We gave up in the end and got a taxi. It cost 4.15e which is really reasonable. The hotel on the beach is called: Riu Oliver Beach Hotel. But be warned, there were quite a few naked people walking about the beach nearby!
The bars in Corralejo were ok. But it was pretty quiet with it being November. The busiest bar with music was called Flicks. It was in the main square upstairs. They did karaoke pretty much every night but also played a lot of recent chart and classic hits music. There was quite a lot of Spanish in there though and they kinda took over things and started coming in and not buying drinks!! The 2 Irish bars often had a few in, but we found The Dubliner had a "clicky" atmosphere. Paddy's bar was pretty good, but we found drinks quite expensive in the Irish bar. A bottle of Magners or a pint of Strongbow and a vodka and coke cost us 9.50euros. We went to a bar nearer to the hotel called "Golden Years" and it cost half the price! One bar we did like was called The Venue. The couple that own it are very nice and have 2 Alsation dogs. One called JC who lies by the door and greets you when you go in. He is very friendly and obedient. If you're lucky, he will give you a sing song. This bar is in the downstairs part of the square and you wouldn't know it was there until you went down. It's quite hidden.
Most of the bars either had live music or a quiz, not much variety. One guy who was pretty good sang Elvis songs, then went on to sing some by others, but he had a good laugh with the crowd and everyone enjoyed themselves. He was in the Golden Years pub on a Monday night (I think). We saw him the following night in Paddy's, but only doing a quiz.
Overall we like Correlejo, but would go again in peak season when there will be more people, but we enjoyed ourselves and had a really nice relaxing time. Weather was really hot for this time of year which was weird. It was hitting 30degrees, normally it is approx 24degrees in Nov! We hardly saw a cloud in the sky most days!! So we got a lovely tan too!
I would recommend the hotel to anyone (unless you hate kids). They do a lot of activities for kids in the summer and a few in the winter. But the complex is very clean and tidy and in an ideal location.

Just returned from the Oasis Dunas...
9 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr P Nuckey

Just returned from the Oasis Dunas and just want to get back there as soon as possible. We have 3 young children and we found it ideal for them. The hotel and rooms are well maintained and the staff are very helpful. The entertainment team really made the holiday special for our kids and in particular Richard was probably one of the best we've ever come across!
Best pools we've seen anywhere. Shallow and safe for kids of all ages. Not sure why people make a big deal about the salt water, better than too much chlorine. Plenty of sun loungers but had to buy parasol as there are none, that is my only grumble and was easily solved with 8 euros. We didn't have to get up early and put towels out but that all depends on other guests at the time of your stay. Tennis courts were in a bad condition but didn't affect us. Brilliant little gym if you like a bit of a workout. Top sports bar with ice cold San Miguel.
As for the rooms, ours was excellent, we went for a 2 bed and found the kitchen fine for cooking. Only 2 hobs, no oven but that's pretty standard for self catering anywhere. Managed to rustle up some lovely dishes. Not many mosquito's at all but as anywhere in the Canaries a cockroach may wander into your room and they can be pretty big, but the rooms are cleaned regularly and to a high standard.
Be warned, food on the island isn't cheap when you are cooking for yourself. However eating out was very reasonable and there are some lovely restaurants about. A walk down to the harbour is definitely worth it as there are some great restaurants down there. The beaches are excellent and very clean, beautiful, light golden sand. If you like water parks then the Baku (opposite hotel) is one of the best. There is no food allowed to be taken in to the water park but you can safely ignore this rule if you want to save some money. Most families in there were munching on sandwiches on their loungers and as long as you are a little discreet, the lifeguards turn a blind eye.
If you expect a 4 star hotel you will be disappointed. If luxury is essential then find somewhere else. However if you can overlook very minor faults and want a sunny and very pleasant complex then it will be ideal for you. There are plenty of hotels that I wouldn't go back to and it's not just us who would return to this hotel. While we were there I spoke to many families and couples who have been before. The standard compares well to the holiday village in Majorca (first choice) if that's any help, but personally I liked the Oasis Dunas better.

We went to the Oasis Dunas apartments...
6 / 10
Oct 2007, Miss L Seale

We went to the Oasis Dunas apartments October 2007. 12 of us in total 6 adults and 6 kids ages 9 months, 2yrs, 4yrs, 5yrs, 10yrs and a 12yr old. We booked this as it seemed a good all rounder hotel to cater all our needs.
We arrived early hours Thursday morning and was a nightmare to find in the dark then a nightmare when we did! We were situated right round the back by a road up a flight of stairs, when we had small children and 2 pushchairs between us! Went to complain as we requested pool view, GROUND FLOOR and the staff were very rude just said fully booked come back Saturday but nothing could be guaranteed, but as we were only staying a week it wasn't worth waiting 2 days so we decided that between us we would have to manage, but what was really annoying was watching couples/families with older children checking into the rooms beneath us !!!
The rooms were very basic and had no microwave so hard when you want to warm baby food up.
The childrens entertainment/games in the day wasn't for the young children you would be ok if the kids were aged about 8+ and at night it was the same entertainment EVERY SINGLE NIGHT - BORING ! and again nothing for the younger ones.
The pool tables kept breaking and there were gangs of kids just sitting on them.
The beach and resort centre is a 15 minute walk away not 500m like it said in our brochure again a nightmare with little ones, also in the brochure there was supposed to be a ball pit for babies/toddlers but it was always closed, when I asked about it the hotel just shrugged there shoulders as is they didn't understand what I was asking. There was also supposed to be a heated swimming pool we couldn't find it!
There also are not enough sun loungers to go round everyone by the pool and if you haven't got your towel down by 8.30am you've no chance! (although there are signs saying not to do it )!?
To end our holiday we had a night flight on the Wednesday so we asked to keep the rooms on or at least 1 out of the 3 between us and the reception staff just said no fully booked! We explained we had a baby and small children and they just said no chance, so we had to check out at 12 and when I went to change my baby there wasn't 1 single baby change facility anywhere to be found so I had to use the toilet floor, how bad is that for a children orientated hotel!
Now on a lighter note the complex is very picturesque lots of space for swimming and there is a friendly/polite person in the supermarket shop! The waterpark is right opposite which is VERY EXPENSIVE and strict, but was very enjoyable and for a bit more euro there are animal shows which were entertaining for the kids. Also up that way if you walk past the entrance to the park there is a fair type place something for the little ones which is quite cheap. And for the big ones there's a haunted house which is quiet scary and an arcade.
The beach is nice but we did get sunburnt as it seems windier down there than anywhere else so be careful! The temperatures there at the moment were 108 degrees very hot apparently for the time of year.
I did enjoy our holiday but I wouldn't return to Oasis Dunas as not only was it the hotel staff and where they put us, the hotel itself was too far out if you have small children.

Originally booked the Oasis Royal...
7 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr Jv Moore

Originally booked the Oasis Royal (same check in as the Oasis Dunas) but on arrival the receptionist offered as an apartment at the Dunas since the apartment location was better than the apartment at the Royal.
The apartment although not very well equip for self catering since it only had two electric burners plus cutlery & the normal plates, cups, glasses etc. The apartment was serviced at least five times during our seven night stay with fresh towels at least three times, plus sheets change twice during the week.
The only thing they did not supply was a tea towel so you need to bring your own or but one in town.
The location is excellent being around 5minutes away from the start of the main strip with its many Restaurants & bars.
We were travelling as a middle age couple so we did not have any need of the entertainment at the complex that is basically set up for kids.
All in all good value for money and would book again.

My partner and I have just returned...
7 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss H Morris

My partner and I have just returned from a great holiday in Fuerteventura. We stayed at the Oasis Dunas apartments for a week and paid £150 each.
For the price we paid, I thought the apartments were fantastic as they are set in lovely grounds and the apartments are spaced out well.
The rooms are cleaned every other day and were spotless, however they were really hot as there is no air-con. We had to hire a fan and pay to watch the TV. The pool area is lovely and there were always plenty of sunbeds available.
The apartments definitely cater for children and most of the evening entertainment was geared for the children....although it was a bit naff.
In Sep, there weren't many children there but I could imagine that the summer months would be a bit noisy. There is a restaurant in the hotel which is open most of the day and evening. It serves chips, burgers and pizzas...great if you love that type of food.
The apartments were quite central, just a short walk to the centre and the beach. I would definitely recommend Corralejo for a relaxing holiday; it's a beautiful place! Loved it.
