We have visited the Canary Islands for our winter breaks for the last 5 years and had reasonable expectations for our stay in Corralejo. The Oasis Dunas is a reasonable 3 star complex and the service offered by the staff is excellent. Our room was regularly cleaned and the towels and bedding changed. This is a must really when travelling with two young children. Corralejo itself is a small resort but there are plenty of things to do, and plenty to keep the kids occupied. The only real let down was that in the winter season the local aqua park is closed. This was a big disappointment to us, as we all love aqua parks. In Gran Canaria and Tenerife the parks stay open all year, so why on Fuerteventura the park is closed anyone knows? We went on a trip to nearby Lobos. This is touted as big adventure, and a great day out. It really isn’t! Apart from the remnants of an old fishing village and a little hut telling the islands history, there isn’t much else there. I certainly wouldn’t take kids there. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around and they mostly offer reasonable standard of food and good service. We only had one meal where we had cause to complain. There is a Pirate themed restaurant on the left hand side of the main strip as you walk towards the plaza and harbour. The food in there was terrible. We order a mixed starter and their special kebabs for 2. The mixed starter looked and tasted like Road kill, and was left. The mixed Kebab was supposed to be a special dish, and contain Wilderbeast, Crocodile, Horse and other such delicacies. For 30euros we thought we would give it a try. What came, was essentially the toughest beef kebab imaginable. It contained none of delicacies that it promised. I was disgusted that they were trying to pass this off as the house special. For us the largest reason we have given the holiday a low rating was the prices that the Spanish are charging. The Oasis Dunas has a number of bars, and a take away snack bar. The prices we found extortionate. Pizza’s at 9euros, a glass of coke 3 euros, a pint of beer at 3.5euros, spirits and mixer 7euros. Ice cream bars 2 and 3 euros. And this is nothing unusual. Eating out at Corralejo is a very expensive affair. A meal may cost you 40euros which is OK, but then the drinks bill will add another 40 euros to that. The Spanish have got very very greedy. They know they have a captive audience and they make every attempt to make as much money as they can from it. In the 14 nights we were there we spent £1800. Most of this went on eating! For a family with 2 young children this is a huge amount of money. For a low cost family holiday Fuerteventura simply does not deliver. We looked at the total amount we spent on the holiday and realised we had spent £3000. For the same money you can get 5 star, all inclusive holiday in the Caribbean. For half that money you can get the same in Egypt. Fuerteventura is a nice place, clean and friendly. But for no other reason than the greed of the Spanish, and the extortionate costs of been there, we will never go back.

Me my partner & two boys (6) & (9) stayed in oasis dunas in june for two weeks half board. We had a great time, the food was plentiful on half board, good choice of food & desserts. Entertainment was good, pools were fab kids loved them. waterpark right opposite the oasis dunas we could see it from our apartment, bit pricey but worth it. We hired a car out for a week and travelled the island, a must see is the jandia beach, voted 7th best in the world absolutely stunning, the picture we took of it look's like a postcard. Also worth visiting are the sand dunes in corralejo, kids had a ball rolling down them there massive, this place takes excellent pictures. A must do is the glass bottom boat trip it is awesome, you get to see the bottom of the reef under the boat & all the stunning fish below, whilst the boat stops by the reef you also have the choice of taking a dive in to the water, very refreshing. I would reccomend this place to anyone with kids. I would return anyday....

we spent 2 weeks at oasis dunas,realy good family friendly complex. 2 adults 1 child (age 3),the staff all spoke english which was very helpfull the thomas cook reps were fantastic.the food on the complex was ok.we whent into corralejo most nights plenty of bars and restaurants.we found a fantastic restaurant called casbar which is next door to blue rock down near the harbour top food,top chef,top night out. we have already booked for next year cant wait......

After reading some of the reviews I didn't really know what to expect after booking a fortnight in the Oasis Dunas. We arrived at about 21.00 and were given a key and a map to find our room which was a bit of a struggle (The complex is not well lit at night). We spent the next few hours chasing cockroaches out of the apartment until I decided to go to reception and ask for some help. I was given some spray and told to spray around the windows and doors which I did and thankfully we didn't see anymore in the apartment for the full 2 weeks. ( The cockroach problem on the complex isn't helped by the cleaners leaving the windows open after they clean your apartment). After the nightmare first night the holiday just got better and better. Yes, the complex is in need of a good re-vamp but for the price compared to some of the other apartments in Corralejo it was better than I expected. The main 2 areas I would say people need to be aware of before staying here is no Air conditioning, (The nights were extremely warm even after hiring a fan). Also the pools are all saltwater and really stings your eyes. Now for the good points which really do outweigh the bad.
The staff were all friendly and did their utmost to make your stay a pleasant one. The Thomas Cook reps were on-site every day for long hours to help with any issues and the entertainment team were fantastic. There was activities going on all day around the pool if you wanted to be involved but the team were never pushy if you just wanted to do your own thing. All the team give 100% energy into trying to keep everyone happy.
The apartment itself was cleaned at least every other day and we always had plenty of clean towels. The kitchen facilities were basic but this appears to be a common theme on the island (a fridge and 2 electric rings).
Corraljo itself is a fantastic resort and we particularly enjoyed drinking in The Prince of Wales bar which did good English Grub and was only 2 euro for a pint.
The Waterpark is also a must especially if you have kids. I would advise buying your tickets off the Thomas cook rep as you get free sunbeds included with your ticket.(If you pay on the door you will be expected to fork out another 3.5 euro for each sunbed).
All in all we had a fantastic holiday and I would love to return to Corralejo. Although I would prefer to stay somewhere which had air-conditioning in the rooms I would definitely return to the Oasis Dunas again.

My partner and I returned last weekend having spent the previous week in Corralejo. Corralejo is a stunning resort I had been there perviously as a child whilst it was my partners first vist and he fell in love with the resort also.We chose to stay at Oasis Dunas the only good things about here were the reception staff were friendly but on a downside terrible at dealing with complaints
We stayed in room B430 which had 2 lights that didnt work,broken shower,cockroach infested bath,never cleaned/attempted to be cleaned the whole week when it stated that this would happen at least once.Also the pictures on the wall were hanging off!! and the walls were insect decorated rather than white as the should of been (a lick of piant cant be much surely).
The town resturants were AMAZING!!! Casa De Carne is to die for and just up the road from there is a tiny bar Robins Nest which is cheap and a good night.We spent a lot of time in a bar called Golden Days which has live entertainment every night one being an amzing singer called James Antony who is brill!!!- Much better than the "entertainment" at the Oasis Dunas where the reps are so full of thmeselves we did wonder how they managed to notice they even had an audience.

When we arrived at the appartments we were a bit dissapointed as the appartment was very basic. However it was very clean and when we were there most the the appartments were being refurbished we were just unlucky with ours.I must admit the pool was in need of a face lift but it was clean enough.
The entertainment was ok but most nights it was for younger children, although there was other things to do. The pool snack bar was lovely especially the burgers and cheese and ham toasties!:) Only there was one grumpy women working in the bar beside the pool but she was probaly just fed up working in the heat!
My two children made lots of friends and there was lots of young and old people.The staff were lovely and at reception you could give them your key and theyd look after it.
Also there was about 4 computers so if you ever got bored you could go on them.
I would seriously go here if your looking for a lively placeto go but its not too mad.
I would also recomend you go to the red flag beach about 10 mins away from the appartments it was amazing!
Personaly i think this was the best holiday ive had in a long time!
If you dont go here your missing out on an amazing holiday!
Honestly you really should consider going here it was sooooo amazing! You wont be dissapointed.

We (my partner and I) have just returned from a very relaxing week in Correlejo. We came away to get some sun, sea and sand out of season and we weren't dissapointed :). Although we had a few cloudy days, it was always pretty warm - the only thing that took us a bit by surprise was how windy the island is. The wind can be chilly - I had goose bumps whilst sat by the pool, and it also means that you get sunburnt without realising it (I used factor 20 and still got burnt - even after reapplying every 2 hours). The evenings are also v.chilly and I would recommend packing a couple of hooded tops/cardigans to cover up whilst walking from pub to pub.
We did not take part in any of the activities organised by Thomas Cook, as we preferred to make our own entertainment, however the facilities at the hotel were good - in particular the boulevard bar (happy hour 6.30 - 7.30 2 for 1) where they show all the footy and the takeway - where you can buy pizza/burger and take it back to your room. There is also another quiet bar just off reception but several times when we went in there was no-one serving. Additionally there is a pool bar where you can get snacks throughout the day and icecream to eat by the pool etc. The pools were pretty cold i'll have to warn you! but there were plenty of sun loungers and nice spots to sun bathe.
The hotel was pretty clean - small amount of litter in the public areas, the towels in our room were changed twice and they 'cleaned' the apartment once during our stay (this just seems to involve sweeping the floor and making the bed.
As we were self catering we mainly ate at the takeaway in the hotel, made food from our Netto shopping trip (Netto is the most prevalent supermarket and is v pricy over 7 euros for an old el paso fahita kit!, plus their isn't much choice - its more like a spar shop than a proper supermarket)or we went out for a meal/takeaway. It does seem that they think all tourists want to eat is pizza and burgers which is quite frustrating, but we had a lovely Paella at Wakiki's which made a refreshing change :).
The landscape in the area is spoilt a bit by the numerous unfinished concrete structures which no-one seems to be working on, but it you walk to the sand dunes by the sea (where all the kite surfers are)it is gorgeous - but beware of the nudists they were everywhere! lol
Overall we had a very relaxing time, got some sun, de-stressed, but I would say that I probably would return, as there is not enough to do :(. Even the Baku waterpark across the road looked awful and this was really the only activity outside of the hotel - apart from hiring a dune buggy - which is expensive Therefore I give it 8/10 - not disappointing but we've been there done that now :)

Stayed in Oasis Dunas 18th-25th March stayed here before and think it is time it had a make over reminds me of Butlins holiday camp and smell of smoke in apartment was over whelming.The room was not cleaned as often as advertised and entertainment did not take place when advertised as not enough people, unfortunately my bag was snatched outside complex coming home at 12.30 one night, cannot fault staff. they were very helpful. Ate in the Point Restaurant nice and friendly, food and prices good. Also nice Spanish restaurant the Avenido just round from supermarket Dino in old town. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced also Dinos much cheaper than Netto.The best bar we found was Robin Nest good music and entertainment no telly blaring and cheap prices, Robin and Linda will make you very welcome.

We went to The Oasis Dunas in November 08, and we had such a great time, we returned in January 09. I would recommend this complex, for it's relaxing atmosphere, cleanliness, and it's beautiful gardens. The staff were brilliant, (nothing was too much trouble)
When we went to Corralejo in November, we had our first meal in a Chinese restaurant called Slow Boat V, the meal was absolutaly disgusting, the fried rice was just a lot of stodge, the curry was cold, and they charged us 2 Euros (£2) for a glass of water,
and even had the nerve to put a service charge on the bill. After that we started shopping at Dino's Super Market, and a small family butcher in the old town centre,
The night life in Corralejo was good, lots of bars, The Blues Brothers Show in the 7 Pints Pub is well worth a visit, they have 3 shows a week, each one is different because of the audiences participation, for a quiet evening drink (with just backgound music) I would recommend Robins Nest.
There are some lovely walks either to the sand dunes (which are only about 15 minutes from the hotel) or walk along the beach to the town centre.

Oasis Dunas is a great place to stay. It has 3 large pools and the apartments are lovely.
