Went there for on a late deal and found that the room that we were allocated appeared to be on the roof. We had a large terrace outside the small bedroom which had a large double sunbed on it, but you could only see over to the pool if you stood on the sunbed.
The room had a (locked) interconnecting door to the next room and every night it was a little disappointing to be able to hear every word that the people next door were saying. We asked if we could be moved but were told that there were no spare rooms so we lumped it.
The room seemed to be a haven for cockroaches which was a little off-putting!
The food and entertainment were good. Would I return? No, in all honesty I would not, but for a late cheap deal it's worth a punt.

i really enjoyed my stay, and as for the reviews about people saying only the germans were all inclusive and wearing the wrist bands, thats a loads of rubbish. me and my family was all inclusive and we got wrist bands, your not going to get a wrist band if your not all inclusive thats just the way it works, it has nothing to do with you being brittish!!!
me and my family went to this hotel and really enjoyed our stay, its was lovely and clean, all the staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for us, the entertainment was enjoyable with a good set of entertainment staff, and the food was nice it wasnt anything special but it was just normal food.
i would deffinatly go back to this hotel again in the future

Hotel Room Broken Into
6 / 10

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel 2 years ago for our honeymoon it was lovely, so we decided to go back again for our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were allocated a suite room 513 it was lovely, the hotel is very clean the restaurant staff are very friendly the food is good. We stayed for 10 nights on our last day 40 minutes before we were due to be picked up to go to the airport our room was broken into the patio door was ripped away from the concrete wall. All our valuables were stolen as well as passports, flight tickets and clothes, the hotel management and security staff took some pictures of the door we asked them if they had phoned the police and they said no, we asked them if they were going to phone the police and again they said no. We then asked them what do we do now and they walked away and left us we will definately not be staying in this hotel again. We advise anybody who intends to stay at this hotel in the future to be vigilant at all times. Since returning home Thomas Cook have told us that they will not keep us informed of any outcome to the break-in

The Best Hotel Tenerife, formerly...
8 / 10
Apr 2008, Mr B Hamblett

3 readers found this review helpful

The Best Hotel Tenerife, formerly Tenerife Princess will be closing down for 40 days in May, for re-furbishing. It is obvious it does need updating if it is to get back to being a 4 star hotel. Having said that , my wife and I enjoyed our stay, without wanting to change too much. We would certainly come again even without the re-furb.
Without a doubt the greatest asset the hotel has, is the staff, cannot fault any of them.
The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, their attendance to the guests in the restaurant was excellent, very, very impressive. There was a large choice of food, maybe a little bit repetitive if you were there for two weeks. But choices from, salads, fish, lamb chops, roast beef, rabbit !, lots of vegetable choices and all the usual fruit, cake, ice cream etc if wanted.
The hotel is spacious, having a piano lounge, lots of seats to relax in around the spacious reception area. Three internet access PC's, I think was one Euro for 10 minutes.
There's an entertainment lounge, which has shows every night, sometimes more than one type of show in a night. We only went to watch the Beatles tribute band, which was excellent, especially as they were four Spanish lads, the instrument playing was bang on. Other shows, were snake show, flamenco dancing, conjurer, modern ballet girls. As our room was opposite the entertainment lounge we could sit on the balcony for while with our drink looking at the act.
The piano lounge was a nice oasis, a different pianist each night, we would sometimes have a tea or maybe beer after our evening meal .
In the spacious area just outside the restaurant entrance, in the large covered glass walkway, different vendors will come each day and present their goods. It may be watches one day, another day may be jewellery, children's artistic items etc. Always something going on.
The swimming pools are smaller than the impression that the photographs on the brochures give. Having said that, it is still fun to use, especially after 10am, when the waterfall is turned on. The children pools are very good, especially as the parents can choose one of the sun beds which are right up to the pool. There is a centre island bar, accessed by bridges, where drinks, coffee, can be obtained, which also has seating, overlooking the pools, to relax in if you wish.
There is also a tabled, thatched roof covering, within the large poolside patio area where you can sit down out of the sun to have a snack meal at lunchtime.
A word of warning when out on the streets , watch out for the scratch card people, they thrust a card into your hand, asking you to scratch off all the four golden spots, they say you win if you scratch off 4 Euros, usually the 2nd card they give you. To get your prize, you have to go on a 90 minutes presentation at Americas Plaza .

Having just read some recent reviews...

Feb 2008, I Woods

Having just read some recent reviews about this hotel, I can only say things must have changed a lot in the year since my daughter, then aged six, and I were there! The accommodation was of a high standard; the food was good; but the staff were not particularly friendly (unless you were all inclusive and therefore non-British!), the entertainment was lousy; my daughter wanted to go home after three days - and we were there for a fortnight! I have to say that overall, I was not impressed by Tenerife itself; hence last year and this we have chosen Majorca as our destination!

this hotel was previously called the tenerife princess, have just returned on the 7/2/08 after 7 night stay.hotel was very clean but very dated,it is due to close in may/june so all the public areas can be modernised,as recently been taken over by the best group.Food was good and plenty of choice all staff in hotel very friendly and liked a joke with guests which was a nice change. the rooms were spotless but in need of modernising, very quiet at night which helped.the hotel was advertised in brochure as a platinum hotel, this was certainly not the case not yet anyway.i would stay here again if i should return to tenerife. We went to the wigan peir bar near veronicas opposite the hotel gala there is a drag queen on if easily offended stay away!!!!!!! its a really good night, we were able to keep our room on until 6pm for 35 euros well worth it as weather was very hot.went to loro parque this was a really good day out for all the family

Have just returned from this hotel...

Oct 2007, Mrs A Duffus

Have just returned from this hotel and it is not nearly as bad as it is made out. OK some areas were a bit dated but it was very clean, the room was big even with 3 beds in it. We got exactly what we asked for - a quiet room with a pool view.
The food was lovely, I’m a vegetarian and quite fussy and I never went hungry. The waiters were friendly and really good with the kids. The only down point was that the pool had tiles missing from it but while we were there the pool was getting measured up for some work. The hotel has been brought over by another company about 4 months ago so looks as if they are going to update things.
Our son who is 6 loved the pool he could stand up even in the deep end. The highlight of his holiday was the kids club, a lovely English lady called Krystina ran it and she was so good with the kids, he couldn't wait to get there every day. There was also a mini disco for the kids in the evening but the evening entertainment didn't start until 10.30pm which was too late for our son so we went out at night to the light show at the Safari Centre - fantastic!
The hotel was in a great location best part of Tenerife. The Safari Shopping Centre is great place to shop. Beach quite near and lots of lovely walks along the front. Hotel close to the mini golf which was great fun. Went to Loro Parque well worth a visit, worth every penny! The shows were brilliant my husband even had a sea lion sitting beside him!
I would definitely go back to this hotel as it really suited us and more importantly our son. If the kids are happy then so are the parents.

I have just returned from this Hotel...

Sep 2007, Mr R Davies

I have just returned from this Hotel and found it to be more like a 3 star rather than a Platinum.
The food was much the same and only luke warm every morning and night.
The pool area was dirty as it wasn't getting cleaned properly. The Waterfall wasn't working the whole time we were there and no attempt to repair it in 14 days.
The bathroom smelt of sewerage and although several reports to rep and reception nothing was done, we were told to leave the door open so that the air con. could circulate.
German guests were all wearing bands as they were ALL INCLUSIVE. Which I found strange when the British weren't, no explanation could be found
During our stay 25 - 30 at least of us have tummy bugs.
I have stayed at this resort about 6 times previously and never had any complaints.
I would never use this Hotel again or recommend it to anybody.

Jul 2007, Miss Z Chinnock

As many other people have said me and my partner both read a lot of negative comments about this hotel. We loved it. It was so posh looking, the reception area was amazing and the staff were very helpful. There was a beautiful waterfall and pond area running through the lower ground floor, it made it so interesting to look at.
It was always so clean and towels in the rooms were changed along with the bedding regularly. We couldn’t fault the cleanliness of this hotel at all. Our half board room was slightly smaller than imagined but then we have never stayed half board so not quite sure what to expect.
The food was fantastic, how we didn’t put on so much weight I didn’t know, there was so much to choose from every evening.
We were out on an excursion one evening so we missed the meal at the hotel so they replaced it with a packed lunch for each of us, we had so much food.
The only thing I would fault would be the bar prices, unless you drunk lager things weren’t so cheap.
The pool was lovely and we never had a problem getting a sun lounger, the setting was beautiful with its fabulous gardens, waterfall and bridges! Could have done with some light music playing in the back ground, but that's just our opinion.
The entertainment was ok, they had something different every night of the week but it would’ve been nice to have a proper disco after the shows and acts had finished.
Overall we had a fantastic 11 night stay and would definitely go back here or a Princess hotel else where!

After reading reviews of this hotel, I honestly did not know what to expect. There was no need for me to worry, the hotel was of a very high standard.
The entrance was lovely, marble flooring, spacious and well decorated. The rooms were very spacious, of a good standard, very clean.
The rooms were cleaned each day to a high standard, we had a lovely view overlooking the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was of a good standard, always a large choice, and variety each meal time. ( Expect to put on a few extra pounds).
There location was excellent, only a five min walk to the beach, bars, and the safari shopping centre, girls this is the place to shop.
There was entertainment on each night in the hotel bar, this varied from quizzes, dance shows, singers to magic shows, there was something to cater for everyone’s taste.
Daytime entertainment was also available, this was the usual, i.e., pool, darts competitions, water polo etc. The only negative comment I have is that the pool did not appear to be as big as what it appears in the hols brochure, but saying that it was still a good size, plenty of sunbeds available.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody, and I am hoping to go back in the near future.

Jun 2007, blondie37

I had read a lot of negative comments before I went and was a little unsure of what we would find.
Can I just say to anyone that is going you have absolutely nothing to worry about. It is a lovely hotel and is well worthy of its four star rating.
The rooms were spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. Unless there is a part of the hotel where there are different rooms, I didn't see any part of the hotel that was shabby, as other people have suggested.
The food was fantastic. My two children are extremely fussy eaters and they were very happy with the food, especially at breakfast when the chef cooks especially for you.
The pool is a little smaller than the brochure would suggest, but it was fantastic and there was never a problem getting a sun lounger, whatever time of day it was.
My ONLY negative comment would be about the evening entertainment. There wasn't much and what there was wasn't too good as could be seen by the empty bar!!
The hotel was in a lovely location, close to the beach and the safari shopping centre, and was very flat and clean in the whole area.
Myself and my two children would definitely go back and don't take any notice of the negative comments!
