Brilliant Week, suitable for the kids, food excellent, highly recommeded

We are just back from a week. We were all inclusive good location, room well looked after reported a fault with our shower which was sorted within half an hour. Nicos bar handy for the kids and very friendly service. Also from reception staff. Meals really good was a great choice to choose from.
the only faults that I do have was that it was really quiet at night as most things were closing down at this time of the season and there was not much to do around the area without having to go on the organised trips etc. Will definetly go back again and highly recommend this apartment

  • Advice: Go All Inclusive as it is quite expensive to eat out as well as purchasing from the supermarket

i travelled to menorca with my husband three kids my sister and her partner and their 2 kids in august it was really nice and warm only 1 day with rain and it lasted about 15 minutes then the sun came out, i think the service was ok but could have been better as the cleaner only came twice and we were there for a week the air condioning wasn't the best either but it was ok, the entertaintment was great! the beach was just across from the apartments so that was good. the swimming pool was good too because their was a bar right next to the pool so all the adults relaxed while the kids were in the pool and we could see them. the food was great, a lot of choice and there was a kids section it had like chips, pizza chicken and all that. the desert was also very good a lot of choice. the staff were very friendly and they always spoke when you went past. i would definetly go back to menorca but maybe try a different place in menorca next time.

We traveled in september all inclusive, the gardens were beautiful, the apartment was very basic but the bathroom smelt awful. they had a maid service twice a week & she seemed to do the bare minimum, she just changed the beds & gave fresh towels.
We had ants on our balcony but I sprayed replant which kept them away.
The meals were good lots of choice, & great deserts but they sometimes were covered in wasps & flies as was the drink dispenser.
The waiting staff were lovely & friendly.
They do like to charge for everything else, ball pit, tennis, golf ,& other activates also in the room where they hold your suitcases they have scales but even charge you to use them which we feel is just petty. Be aware they only offer 2hours late check out which is not much help, charged at 5 euros per hour, they had lots of empty rooms as it was end of season so dont understand why they wouldnt let us keep the room longer & they would make a lot of money out of it!
Entertainment was not much but one show called 'for one night only' was superb.
We enjoyed our holiday in santo tomas is a lovely sleepy resort but we would stay somewhere else if we return.

Lovely resort, beautiful clean sandy beach & surrounding areas.
The apartments are very tired & basic but its a 3* so as we expected, the food was lovely lots of choice but they did have a problem with flies & wasps which made each meal time a bit of a battle with them, the waiters were good though as would take plates ect as soon as you finished but I think they should cover the deserts as some were totally covered with them which was gross.
We were all inclusive but as we arrived & left in the evening we were told our all inclusive ended at lunch time so we wasnt able to eat/drink without paying even though we wasn't told about this when we booked with first choice as I was under the impression I had payed for the full 7days so we was very unhappy, they charged for everything they could (we were charged 28 euros for the use of the cot for a week) we spent a lot more on this holiday than expected to make sure you bring plenty of spending money.
We would return to santo tomas but would choose another place to stay.

  • Advice: Bring lots of spending money & replant, or just stay else where.

Starting to go down.

Aug 2011, Mestral

Just returned from a 2 week holiday with family and friends.Have been here 2 years ago and have got to say it has definitely gone down. This complex is now offering all inclusive which it didn't 2 years ago.The bar is open till 12pm and our apartment was directly opposite the bar.We travelled with 3 children under the age of 6 and could not get to sleep until after 12pm every night. Some nightts it was 2am due to the inconsiderate neighbours above and next door dragging furniture and screaming laughing until early hours. After working all year and spending £2600 on a 2 week holiday, we would have liked to have has some quietness at night to sleep. The litter wasn't good either, plastic cups all over the gardens from the all inclusive guests. We also had 5 towels stolen off our balcony whilst we slept at night; which does not make you feel easy when sleeping with young children inside.Pool seemed dirtier this visit and very cloudy..... not many children visiting the toilet; hence the ear infections my children now have. It's a shame these apartments have started to go down as Santo Tomas is beautiful. The apartment was also ant infested. The ants were in the oven, bed and all over the kitchen surfaces......AWFUL. Won't be returning to these apartments but may return to Santo Tomas.

We have had two holidays at Mestral Liebeig and just want to say BE WARNED re your valuables. Asap on arrival pay for the safe in your room. We had a theft, ipod, phone and cash. There may be a scam going on, when u buy from the cafe/bar at the pool they ask your room number which I now suspect informs the thieves exactly who is out of their rooms. Be careful as such an event can spoilyour holiday it did ours

We came back from Mestral & Llebeig in July 2011 after spending 2weeks there.
Me and my husband took our 4 children,(2 of which are teenagers) and had the best holiday ever.
The apartments were immaculate, the bar was fantasticly situated on the complex between the childrens area and the adults pool area, there is a kids club on the complex too.
We went all inclusive and we definately got our moneys worth if not more so!
The food was great, the evenings entertainment was great, they even have an enclosed play area for children with staff which is great for parents.
We dont usually like going back to the same place as we like to see other countries but we are already planning our holiday there for next year.

Just returned from a fantastic week away in Santo Tomas. Upgraded to all inclusive as not many restaurants to choose from and a bit pricey. Would recommend the upgrade as buffet as plentiful and varied. Extremely friendly staff and reps. Beach wonderful and very easy for small children to swim. Great facilities onsite for small children (up to 8-9yrs old) with pools, parks etc. Apartments very clean, but maybe could do with a slight bit of maintenance in bathroom & kitchen. Hired a car for Euros 79 a day for an 8-seater. Island very easy to navigate and beautiful bays all around. Would definitely go back again as we met some lovely people, great atmosphere. Entertainment at night was OK.

this was our first holiday as a family with children ranging from 1 - 15 (there were 6 of us in a 2 bed apartment) the apartments we very clean, big and tidy with a maid service for towels and bedding and a clean up of the room. everyone was very pleasent and polite even in the local shops. the swimming pools kept the children very happy and the little baby pool was great. there are two kids parks for them to play in too. the area of santo thomas is very quite and perfect if you want to escape. as a whole this is a fantastic place and the mestral and llebeig apartments where a great choice. i would go back and stay in these apartments again. it was the perfect choice for a my familys first holiday. everyone had a great time.

we were at these apts last week and were given a lovely large and well equiped room on the first floor near the mestral pool. we had our 3yr old granddaughter with us and she had a ball!!!!!!! there is an excellent splash pool and playground as well as kids and adults pools and the kids club "little stars" was great she enjoyed a lot of the activities there and they had a party one of the days that you paid 10 euros for and she enjoyed it very much.the llebeige side looked pretty quiet and only had a small playground so if you go with small children ask to be put on mestral side as its more geared up to the kids. there is a small pony club up a rocky path behind the apts (not very suitable for prams or if you have walking dificulties) our granddaughter had a 10min ride on a pony and loved it! it cost 7 euros and we also bought her a rosette for 2.50 euros. the las dunas bar and restaurant directly opposite has a soft play area open from 6.30pm and costs 3 euros but the kids can go in and out all evening ( the woman puts a sticker on their backs to prove they have paid). they also have a mini disco for the little ones from 8-830 each night. all great to wear them out !!!!the food was quite good here too we ended up eating there every night as the wee one wanted to play and dance,so did not get the chance to try any other restaurants. as to the resort being expensive as told by other reviewers yes it was a bit dearer it is a very small resort so what do you expect stick to local goods such as milk bread drinks etc its only british named goods that are quite expensive. we took a taxi to calan forcat which is the largest resort on menorca it cost 40euros each way but there is a water park on the main street and a few bars that have bouncy castles and trampolines which are free to use if you buy a drink or meal at the bar. on average i did notice here that the main course meal was about half of what we paid in santo tomas but as i said it is a large resort. our first 2 days was pouring with rain but after that it was glorious sunshine all the way the island is not lovely and lush green for nothing!! on the whole we had a great holiday and would definatly recomend these apts. we could have done with more shops than the 4 in santo tomas but we were there to chill and make sure our wee one had a good time and we all had a great time.

i stayed here in august 2010,it is a lovely place the apartments were clean, but we had a one bedroom that sleeps four as there were 2 adults and 2 children, but i found the room was not big enough,we stayed for 2 weeks but one would have of been enough.the beach and the sea was the best ever, the weather was fantastic, the restaurants were not up to much, and this is the first holiday i have ever had to cook quiet a bit on,everything is expensive.all staff were really friendly especially in las dunas bar,YOU NEED TO TAKE PLENTY OF CASH WITH YOU.

Ants Ants Ants Ants Ants!

First off - ANTS everywhere in and outside of apartment. Balcony, living room floor, bedroom walls, towels. Came back to apartment one day and there were about 100 ants walking all over our bathing sponge in the bathroom - yuk. When first spotted them we reported them and the maintenance chap came and squirted them within 10 minutes - this was outside. Didnt fancy him squirting them inside where baby would touch so resorted to squashing them best as we could - on a serveral times a day basis. If i can find out how to upload a photo i will.
Apartment
2 bedroom apartment - very spacious and more than enough for our 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant. Kitchen very well equipped. Was in a ground floor apartment - Balcony was HUGE, and locked via a gate, so u kinda felt self contained and safe for little ones. Cot was 40 Euro for 10 days - rip off - Look like it came from a Romanian orphanage!
Mestral Llebeig Hotel Surroundings
Lovely, we were on the Leibeig side - quieter but with pool and close to supermarket about 5 buildings away. Splash pool is on Mestral side. Clean, tidy, friendly maintenance staff should you need them - our balcony gate came off its hinges. Little park round the back of the apartment which the children took themselves off too.
Resort & Beaches
Beach is right across the road just behind the hotels opposite - great location. I dont like beaches myself but the children did. Had to clear away lots of rubbish, fags and plasters on occasions though - so fault of Santo Tomas - but of its visitors. Beach could do with some more showers - but they have gone all eco, so less is more. Resort is very small and very quiet. 10 minutes max walk to right of hotel and 5 mins max to left of hotel and you are done. You cannot walk any further - u have to go by bus. We went to Es Mijorn one day which is the next village and has a supermarket (local and very nice indeed) at 1.80 a pop and found out from our neighbours at apartment that they went all the way to Mahon for 2.90!
Food and Supermarkets
2 Mini markets (one to the left and one to the right of hotel), have all you could need. Yes some of it costs a hell of a lot more than home, we got savvy and shopped a little smarter as the holiday went on. Local bread cheapest was around 1.25 a loaf. eggs, butter, jam, ham, cheese all reasonable. Tobacco shop is next to mini market to the left of hotel - closed sundays.
Bakers selling fresh bread open 8.30 - 12.30 all week next to mini supermarket to right - they sell the cheapest water too. 1.30 for 5 litres. Next to the bakers is a mini cafe / restaruant and we found these the cheapest for food. Lots of variety, quick service, food dishes mainly 5.50 each - Lovely staff. They also do DELICIOUS Ice cream!
There is little choice of eateries - they all serve the same thing but vary in prices. Chips chips chips. If you want a proper healthy meal (even just for one day!), prepare to pay £20 a head just for main course.
Las Dunas - Hotels restaurant - not great for food. Dont go for the chicken curry!
Activities for children
Las Dunas Evening Disco - same songs every night.
Kids club - my daughter loved it apart from being covered in chocolate at the choccy party - ho well.
Splash pool on Mestral side - loved by all our kids - perfect for our 1 year old to walk around in and get up and down slides by herself.
Various little parks and play areas dotted around near beach.
Met some lovely people, got a nice tan, weather between 25 - 28 degrees.
