We stayed at the Marina for 2 weeks in August 2010. The rooms are basic although they all seem to have a double and a single bed but only 1 wardrobe and 2 bedside drawers so storage was a bit tight. We just left some things in the suitcase. We paid extra for the air conditioning - not very much and well worth it and for the safe in the room. (Don't understand why you have to pay extra for an item already in the room but there we go) Unusually for Greece there were no shutters and only a single glazed door to the balcony so we invested in a roll of bin liners and taped them to the glass which was extremely effective and no-one seemed to mind. The bathroom was tiny although you could wash your face whilst sitting on the loo which some may find convenient. It was about 15 mins walk to the "nice" part of the beach where sunbeds and brollies were free as long as you bought drinks etc from the bars. They didn't overcharge and and was quite nice being waited on on our sunbeds! Some lovely eateries along the stretch of beach - try them all.
The Karaoke at the Marina bar was a bit unbearable and went on till around 3 am but only once a week.
Public transport was very limited. Last bus to Thassos town was 6.45 and the return even earlier. We found taxis reluctant to do the journey - approx 30 mins but managed sometimes at a charge of around 17 euros. Must mention that the beach is lovely soft sand right into the sea which is really shallow and incredibly warm. Calm somedays and great waves on others - a perfect mix.

Just arrived back from yet another 2 wonderful weeks, this year our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons came too. As last year we could not fault anything about our stay, the staff are fantasic and were brilliant with the children. The fun train this year is well worth the money, we did the four villages and had a great time thanks to Marina our guide, the children loved the journey on the pink and white transport.
Dont miss out on the Marinas Breakfasts - yum yum!!
Many thanks again to Dimitris, Valis, Marina, Laili and all the other staff for your hard work and making our holiday so enjoyable
Will be back next year.

stayed at marina apartments first week of may.weather turned out to be very good indeed.we saw the ferry transfer as a bonus!cant praise dimitris and his staff highly enough especially:"SID" and"FRIDAY"from the bar who made getting legless very easy!the apartments are quite basic but the beds are comfy and it is kept spotless by the 2 friendly cleaning ladies.golden beach is well served with eateries with the bonus of no mc donalds!for a great evening out daves music bar at the end of chrissi amoudia by the rocks has great karaoke great company and very fair drinks prices!thassos has to be experienced to understand how beautiful it is.golden beach leaves you speechless at first sight.it really is like the picture in the brochure.had issuses with thomson check in staff at kavala airport.

We have just arrived back from two glorious weeks today and can't wait to book up for next year. The Marina was wonderful accommodation and the staff so helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day except for Saturdays and the towels and bed linen were changed regulary. The swimming pool and bar were just across the road and did excellent breakfasts and other snacks and meals - what more could you ask for? If you want the Ritz then its probably not for you - what you get here is typical Greek - basic, clean and relaxing.

The most relaxing holiday we have every had. All the owners and staff where the most friendly we have ever encounted. Its a must on my GO BACK TO LIST.
We did not travel around to much because we had everything we needed on our door step but still enjoyed everything there was available to us.
The ferry ride over to the island when you first arrive is a good indication of how fantastic this holiday is going to be. Then it just gets better and better.
We were so well looked after we could have imagined we were staying on the island with our oldest friends not just on a package holiday.
Rooms basic but so clean, bed wonderful and comfortable.
But the best thing was the people. Not a grumpy or unfriendly face anywhere.

As a traveller who has been to 45 greek islands and also mainland Greece, and after reading comments about the Marina Appartments I fail to understand what many people want from a holiday.
I found that the Marina was an excellent place to have a quiet Greek holiday. The staff were very helpful and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and they kept the appartment spotless during our stay in May.
The bar opposite served a large english breakfast plus many other alternatives which was sufficient to last the day through until dinner at night. You can find many tavernas and restaurants near by. There is also a pool and loungers.
The local bus stop is outside the Marina so you can explore the island on a shoe string if you require.
Dimitrios, who runs the bar and many other things with the help of Janet an English girl,
were very helpful with information about the island.
If you want a riotous holiday Thassos is not the place for you. I spent a week there and I was so laid back I felt that if I had spent two weeks there they would have had to bring me home on a stretcher. Wonderful.

Although Skala Potamia / Skala Panagia has changed a lot since our last visit in 1993, it is still a lovely, friendly place where you can relax and soak up the beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a ground floor apartment with our two boys and found Marina both clean and welcoming (coffees and cakes on arrival!).
Plenty of local fresh fruit, yoghurts, honey and breads from the well-stocked local 'super-markets' provided refreshing breakfasts, and the many Tavernas nearby had some good food (although a bit too many offering English fare than we expected - why eat anything other than Greek?) . The pool-bar was great, we spent may mornings and evenings there, and thanks to Janet and Dimitris for your hospitality (and the coffees, ouzo and chess).
We all miss it loads!

This was our first visit to Greece and it may well be our last. The plumbing in this country is something out of the dark ages. We could not cope with being unable to put toilet paper down the toilet having to put in a bin which was emptied most days instead. We found this terribly unhygienic. Even then our toilet got blocked and it took a day for the problem to be sorted during which time we could not use our toilet. The owners really did not seem bothered by the inconvenience this caused us and their attitude was poor.
In addition our shower at the Marina apartments never drained properly and we consistently had a wet bathroom floor. Our room was rather small and there was no lounge or small bar here. Compared to other holidays we have taken we thought it was extremely poor value for money.
Golden Beach does have a great beach and some good places to eat, but as we are in our twenties the resort virtually closed down before midnight and it was dead for us. Nearly all the people staying here were over 40, many a lot older, and we felt as youngsters out of place. In additional there was a plague of wasps at this resort which were a consistent problem and we both got stung. This holiday may be alright for people in their middle age upwards who are prepared to accept a really basic standard of living but it certainly had no appeal for us of for anyone of our age.
There was better accommodation than the Marina Studios in the resort but nevertheless they all had the same issue with the toilet paper. Disgusting! We would not return again. Incidententially there is a ferry crossing involved when taking a holiday in Thassos so overall from landing to booking in at the Marina Apartments took us over 4 hours.

We had a fantastic holiday- yet again! - in Thassos. This is the 2nd year we have stayed in the same resort and chose the Marina apartments as our first choice had been withdrawn.
Marina apartments were cleaned every day, and we had a great studio on the first floor. The wonderful cleaning lady was cheerful from dawn until dusk and the atmosphere was relaxed and casual.
There is a short walk through a friendly campsite to the beach which is clean and shallow in places so great for kids.
The locals are extremely friendly and helpful and there are plenty of different bars/ restaurants to choose from.
We've been for 2 yrs in a row and the other half is now delaying our marriage so we can go again next year. Aliki beach is definitely worth a visit. It gets crowded but the old marble mines and the ruins are stunning.
We will definitely visit this island time and time again.

Myself and my two teenage children have just returned from Thassos.
We stayed at the Marina Studios which was lovely although I felt the room was a little basic with a tiny sink and two ring hob. This wasn't a problem though as we eat at the pool bar in the day and out on the night.
The place was very clean the house keeper worked so hard in the 38% heat all of the people were very very welcoming and friendly.
Although the one women who ran the pool bar in the mornings until around 4pm was very miserable and moody and kept moaning at the kids for splashing in the pool (what did she expect eer it a pool!!) but she did give up in the end and just left them to it.
Demitry and Kia who ran the pool bar in the evenings were lovely and we had a fantastic time and would go back.
