2 adults 1x 15yo 1x 14yo 1x 11yo in Aug 2008.
Had a great time and would revisit again. Food good but a bit boring and not a lot of things for the kids but it IS Turkey and thats what they eat.
Very good size pool and no objections by the staff for having good fun .
All the staff were great and up for a good laugh all the time. Ozzy (behind the bar) would if asked ring out for a turkish pizza for us in the afternoon 75p each and have them delivered to the poolside as a snack.
The location is perfect, close to all the bars but just far enought not to be hammered with noise all the time.
If I did look for a fault it would be the bar closing at 11pm and not 12, but it was not a big issue.
If you visit, take some uptodate cd's as the boys will welcome them to play behind the bar.

Before I went to the Oylum Hotel I was worried about all the negative reports i had read - as were all the other guests i met there, but there was no need as it was a fabulous hotel.
The staff were all great from the bar staff, reception staff, waiters and the cleaners they could not do enough for you.
The rooms are cleaned to a high standard and towels changed daily.
The food is not the best in the world but there are plenty of pastas and salads every day and fresh fruit(melon and oranges) and chips!
My only recommendation is that if you want a decent cup of tea take some tea bags with you!

Whilst the food wasn't the best (warm with not a great variety) the staff were absolutely brilliant. Always smiling, very helpful and always up for a laugh and joke. Located in a fairly central location near bars, restaurants and close to the beach (couple of hundred yards down the side of the canal). We will be returning to this hotel on our next visit to Turkey.

My girlfriend and I arrived at the Oylum hotel in Icmeler about 08:00 in the morning we took our luggage up to reception where a man met us and told us to leave the luggage at the foot of the steps. We went too checked in and there was a lovely greeting, which was nice and was told breakfast was from 7.30 - 9.30 then another man took us and our luggage to our room immediately there was even a sandwich waiting for us, the room was spotlessly clean and very well laid out.
The rooms are cleaned every day and the towels changed every day, as well, the maids are very nice to talk to also very friendly.
The two men behind the bar Romeo and Anntonio are very efficient and hard working
And try there best to plz their guests.
Onto the food. Let's just say that it is different. Breakfast was not bad toast and cornflakes you also had a choice of eggs, either hard boiled or scrambled.
Lunch lots of different choose same with dinner there is plenty of pasta and salads as well that are very tasty.
The weather was brilliant and the people are just so friendly.
On the whole I did enjoy my holiday very much and would recommend it to anyone I would definitely go back agen and agen there is no way you could fail to have a fantastic time in Icmeler and the Oylum.hotel.

I and my friend are from St.Petersburg. It was our first time in Icmeler and we didn’t disappoint! One week in Oylum hotel - was the best time of our life! Nice place, 2 min. to the beach, 15 min. to the centre of Marmaris.
Clean rooms. Only one thing we didn’t like - our room was on the 1-st floor and opposite our windows was street bar, so we should always keep our curtains closed. But others pluses of our holiday makes this minus unimportant.
We like stuff very much, especially Figo he is always smiling and very polite.
We were surprised by free access to the internet, even in 5* hotel you should pay. Some Russians are more polite than some English people who making much noise from nothing, we respect all people. We had a luck to talk with director of the hotel. Thanks to him again!

We arrived in the middle of the night to a row in another hotel waking the full street. Boy that woman was angry. The security guard calmed it down right enough and generally seemed on the ball.
The room was spotlessly clean. It was cleaned every day and the towels changed every day as well. Couldn't fault that.
Sadly there isn't enough sunbeds to go round and losers get out of their beds at 6 every morning to put their towels on them. The bar area is comfortable enough though if you have a life and want to lie in your bed. The two boys behind the bar Figo and Anntonio are very efficient and hard working. I gave them a few quid the first day and getting served or glasses was never a problem. I would urge everybody to do this as they work very hard and don't get paid very much.
Onto the food. Let's just say that it is different. However for the money that we paid it was perfectly acceptable. I would give breakfast a miss though. There was always something worth having at lunch or dinner though. Again the lads work very hard and can't do enough for their guests. The fish is nice. There is plenty of pasta and salads as well that are tasty. You starve unless you are very fussy. Either way you can go out to eat if you like. Or pay another few hundred pounds and go 5 stars AI.
I was quite disappointed in the resort itself. I was at Marmaris 10 years ago and was expecting it to be the same. I was astounded by how much they were looking for spirits etc. A fiver for a Bacardi is not on. I was going to buy a can of beer at the airport until they asked me for 10 lira. No thanks. I am anything but tight but I won't be ripped off. Turkey has shot itself in the foot if you ask me. There are better value places that are not a four and a half hour flight away.
Just out the front door of the hotel to the right is a Turkish bath. It is 25 lira and absolutely brilliant. Well worth the money and a good laugh as well.
Also if you are on the beach and have the money a massage is the most relaxing thing that you will get. It's only 40 lira and worth every penny.
One thing that surprised me was the amount of Russians in the hotel. They are the new Germans. I have never come across a more ignorant bunch of people in my life. Seeing an oaf pointing at a beer tap with three fingers in the air and an expression that would have turned milk just about sums them up. I would say 90% of them behaved this way. One of them thought that wearing a t shirt that said f*** Barbie on the back was the ideal evening wear for dinner. There were at least 10 children going about. If that had been a Brit I would have pulled him up about his behaviour but his countrymen let it slide. That summed them up.
On the whole I did enjoy my holiday but that was mainly due to the fact that I could go to the end of the road and have a good laugh. The free drink helped.
One last word of warning and I am not kidding here. Under no circumstances drink from the water cooler at the pool bar. The hotel dog knows how to work it. It was on our last night we saw it doing it. Classic.

Just came back from a two week holiday at the Oylum hotel in Icmeler and it was fantastic.
There were four of us staying there my wife, daughter (22) her friend (22) and myself, there is something in Icmeler for all ages the weather was brilliant and the people are just so friendly.
The Oylum itself is granted a **** status but I would say it is more like a ***, don't let that put you off because it is a very good hotel, well run with brilliant bar and pool staff, they will have you stitches.
What is great about the Oylum is its location everything you could want in a holiday resort is on your doorstep including the beach ( 150m ). There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by but try out the hobgoblin you will have great laugh the owner is a guy called Messy ( who is mad by the way )his English is perfect and he will help out with any problems you might encounter.
There is no way you could fail to have a fantastic time in Icmeler and the Oylum.

There were only 2 reviews listed when I checked before going both being 10/10 so was very disappointed when we got there (me hubby and 3 kids).
Room was ok, maid very nice, food absolutely disgusting hubby lost 1 & a half stone we think down to something he ate (still waiting on results back from docs).
First morning got myself some bread which I was just putting in my mouth when the kids screamed that it was thick of mould (yuk) kids lived on chips that was the safest thing there.
Because of hubby’s dickie tummy couldn’t really leave the hotel so when there’s no entertainment it is sure boring same old same old.
If you are thinking of staying here as well fill your fridge with drinks because even though you pay all inclusive come 11pm you can’t even get a cup of coffee because there are no facilities in the rooms.
My advice, stay well away, my first and last time to turkey. (shame)

it was our honeymoon and we couldn't fault the whole thing! The hotel is awesome, the staff are great, the food was excellent. It is in an ideal location and is well worth a visit. Try a boat trip too if you get a chance. We met loads of great people and we will definitely be going back. Turkey is a relatively cheap place to go compared to other Med locations but this holiday in my mind should have cost more.
If there is no room around the pool then the hotel owns part of the beach so you can go down on a sunbed for free. (3 minutes walk) like i said above, we will be going back! Try it and you wont be disappointed.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in Icmeler at the Oylum Hotel.
All rooms I believe have air conditioning with some overlooking the road but most the restaurant and pool. They are fairly modern and plenty big enough though the bathroom is a little small. Ours had no bath just a shower. But then how much time to you spend in the bathroom! They were kept clean with bins and towels changed every day.
More a British 3 star though. The gym is free and so is the internet though you'll have to wait until midnight for the children to stop playing games and msn messenger on them. There again across the road is an internet cafe for 4 YTL/hour.
The staff were always eager to please and if you take the trouble to speak some Turkish words they'll be even nicer toward you. The restaurant fills up quickly in the evenings so be on time and you'll get a seat in the air conditioned section and boy do you need it! Some folk are like vultures which annoyed us.
Generally Russian in this hotel with some French and English. The food was always cooked properly and the salads didn't cause us any problems though be careful with the water away from the hotel.
Plenty of choice on the menu providing you are prepared to try something new and generally like Mediterranean food. Across the road you'll find your sausage, chips, burger, and beans - not here. Can't understand some of the previous comments about foreign food. Hey guys wake up! You’re in a foreign country.
The pool is adequate but generally full of the kids. Adults claim the loungers from 6am onwards. The poolside bar has great atmosphere and is lively enough in the evenings for most. There's plenty of entertainment in the bars and restaurants across the road for those who want more. Come midnight the police silence the bars and clubs so us oldies can have some sleep.
It's only 15 minutes to Marmaris if you're an all night clubber. You'll find plenty of choice for food in Icmeler, all reasonably priced. There's a very cheap supermarket just across the road from the main entrance that’ll also change your sterling cheaper than back home or in the banks. So take plenty of sterling with you. It's more desirable than their own money.
Must admit I was expecting something a little less touristy from the resort but we nevertheless enjoyed our stay. The beach is full of sun loungers with each hotel claiming a section of beach. If you ask at reception the night before they will give you a free sun lounger ticket for the beach. 50 metres away. On the beach you'll probably bump in to Jimmy. Now he's a character! Every Wednesday there is a local market. Sadly though it's slowly being taken over by tourist tat.
We walked to Marmaris along the beach which is about 8kms. Not that far back home but in the midday sun it was too much. Very pretty walk. Just get the Dolmus as they're only 1.75 YTL (60p) each way. I was in Turkey 10 years ago and boy they were stuffed back then.
These days the driver should only let you on if there's sitting room. Things have improved all round. In Marmaris you'll find everything you'd expect in a Tourist Resort. Get used to the constant hassle from traders. Just politely say no thank you and move on.
Try some of the excursions. We tried parasailing and then snorkelling in the gulf of Gokova. 10 miles north. Recommend trying these. Ephesus is highly recommended. Take plenty of water and a hat as there's no shade. Also be warned ALL drinks are extra and expensive. I'm sure that's how they pay for the meals! We also went on the day boat trip. Great fun. Lots of swimming and snorkelling.
All round a very enjoyable 2 weeks. Good I'd say for families with young children rather than teenagers and couples who want life in the evenings but still a night's sleep.

We stayed here in May 2010 after transfering from another hotel in Marmaris - Mamaris was hell but Icmeler was wonderful & this hotel was above & beyond expectation for a 4* in Turkey. Place was clean & food was good - all facilities worked fine & the staff were cutious.
The local bars are quite at 12 so can get a good nights sleep too!
I will be going back this year!
