Got back from the Papantonia...
9 / 10
May 2007, Mr A Reavill

Got back from the Papantonia yesterday. We have been to Cyprus on several occasions (Normally Pathos) and would thoroughly recommend if you have kids.
Our party consisted of 6 adults, 6, 5, 2 & 1 year old children.
There are several kids club sessions that are free for the over 3s and crèche facilities that is extra for the under 3s.
The facilities and entertainment are very much child/family orientated and the reps were very friendly (and loud!!).
The hotel is not the Hilton but it is clean and would benefit from a lick of paint.
The menu is not very varied but with 2 very fussy eaters there was always something to eat and the snack menu (between meal times) was great.
We will go back if we have the opportunity and if it’s a cheap cheerful family holiday then this is a safe bet.

Me and my family have been going to...
10 / 10
Apr 2007, Miss H.A Jackson

Me and my family have been going to the Pap for 3 years running now, and are going again this year because everything about is good.
But the best thing of all are the reps, they are all so friendly, and you can guarantee top quality entertainment every day, from poolside bingo, to water Olympics, and for the people who want more of a leisurely day, there are a number of beautiful beaches just 10 minutes walk away.
I cannot stress enough how good this hotel is, and is totally child friendly. I strongly recommend the Papantonia to people of any age, I know you would have a good time because there is something for everyone.
Starting from 7 in the evening, there is a kids disco, after that they do some games with the kids.
Later the reps put on a wonderful show, and do quizzes and bingo.
All the activities involve the audience in one way or another, and none of the reps are pushy, just friendly and trying to keep you happy!

Myself my partner and my two children...
8 / 10
Feb 2007, Dm Reid

Myself my partner and my two children found our two weeks all inclusive holiday at Papantonia absolutely fantastic. This was our first holiday abroad and we all enjoyed every minute of it.

Firstly if you’re like myself and are planning to go away late sept to avoid intense heat then forget it.
I’m mixed race and have afro Caribbean hair, took me two hours before flying to get it lovely and straight UNTIL I got off the plane, immediately the heat took over it straight back to tight curls.
The whole two weeks were scorchers between 34/37c each day no good if your children are heat irritable.
Hotel staff were very friendly and pleasant and always made you feel welcome. Rooms were basic but adequate for the purpose.
There is no air con in the living quarters of the family rooms so nights were very hot and sticky, were preferred for the kids to have the air conditioned room. We did occasionally have ants nests in our room which was a bit of a let down but we were hardly ever in there anyway.
The food was extremely different and sometimes unusual but if you enjoy a quality piece of fish or pork then you'll love it.
At times that sort of food didn’t always appeal to my family but there was always something for everyone and the food was always well presented.
The 3 pools are very clean and will suit all ages. Beach is close although we always walked the extra few meters to fig tree, the beach there was much cleaner. The only down side to Protaras is entertainment.
The town is overloaded with steak houses and unless you’re out to dine then there is very little for you to do, although there is the lazer show and a variety of amusements. I would definitely say to visit Nissi beach and the main waterpark they are out of this world.
Anyways here’s the bad point - take plenty of cash as Cyprus is extremely expensive e.g. sun news paper 1.20cy£.
Although we had already paid £2300 for our all inclusive hol, we still managed to spend ova £1500. After seeing a little more of the world we will may return to Papantoia.

Stayed at Papantonia for a week with...
6 / 10
Jan 2007, Miss B Haines

Stayed at Papantonia for a week with my boyfriend and if you don't have (or don't particularly like) kids don't stay here!
The hotel is really family orientated and the kids club is really the focus of the place.

It's a really basic hotel, but was clean and our sheets and towels were changed regularly.
The majority of people at this hotel were the sort of people to be satisfied with staying around the pool all day long and made the most of the all inclusive offers but don't do this!
Protaras is such a nice place with really beautiful beaches and great restaurants and all those people are missing out! Fig Tree bay is the best beach, it's quite a long walk but we took taxis and it was definitely worth it.
We also headed into the centre of Protaras pretty much every night, there's some really good bars and restaurants.

What is so good about the location of Papantonia is that you are free to choose where to spend your days and nights depending on your mood. Some nights it was nice to stay around the quieter area of the hotel, and we especially liked the Blue Spice restaurant.
The biggest downside was really just the kids, a large number were really badly behaved and were always breaking the lifts by going up and down in them, NON-STOP!
But if you stay away from the hotel during the day, you'll have a great holiday.

We have just booked our July 2007...
10 / 10
Jan 2007, Mrs K Moore

We have just booked our July 2007 holiday to the Papantonia, this will be our 3rd time for our family holiday at the Papantonia. I think that speaks for itself on how great the holidays have been there.
Last year myself my husband my two children my mother-in-law and her niece went on the Wednesday, My brother-in-law and his two children came out on the Sunday. My mum and my step-dad came out on the Saturday but stayed at an hotel down the road.
My mum and stepdad spent every day and every night at the Papantonia as they enjoyed it that much there, so much so they have also just booked there 2007 holiday at the Papantonia.
We have been to a lot of different hotels in other countries but none have matched up to the Pap.
The staff are absolutely fantastic, very helpful and hard working and spoke very good English.
The kids club reps were brilliant and all the kids loved going to kids club.
The entertainment team were again brilliant and ever so hard working they were practising their shows through the day and performed at night. Every night was something different.
The mini disco was always great and the entertainers had all the children and adults up dancing without fail every night to a few songs. The main one being Cartoon Heroes.
The rooms we thought were lovely but have been refurbished as we have just found out and look even better judging by the pictures.
The maids were lovely they were so friendly and always put our night wear in a different way on the beds. They take so much care in everything they do. They two are ever so hard working, and took pride in their jobs.
The food could get a little bit repetitive and the basement toilets are smelly but it is just as convenient to go to your room. However everything else that's fantastic about the Pap outweighs that ten times over
The station bar across the road is a great night out and there was nothing better at night then going home after having a fantastic night with the reps and listening to all the holiday makers singing and enjoying themselves, we loved sitting out on the balcony which was facing the Station having a few drinks and singing along and having a laugh.
All in all the Pap is a hotel that makes you feel a part of the family and ensures you have a fantastic and memorable holiday.

Me and my partner went to this Hotel...
7 / 10
Dec 2006, Miss NJ Forsyth

Me and my partner went to this Hotel in June 2006 with our 6 year old son for a two week break.
We found this hotel very good for families and had plenty of entertainment throughout the day for the kids, whilst you lazed by the pool.
The rooms are very basic but do the job when you are out most of the time. The rooms are tidied and cleaned to a good standard and towels changed regularly.
We started off self catering but found it was a lot cheaper to upgrade to full board, although in hindsight I wish we had upgraded for only one week as two weeks in the same restaurant, where the food wasn't very adventurous was too much. And if like me, you are a vegetarian it can be quite difficult to find nice meals. I ended up eating veg and chips most of the time.
The staff were quite friendly, some more than others and sometimes you felt like it was an effort if you asked for certain things.
The negative points of this hotel are the lifts continually breaking down, the toilets outside beside the pool are very dirty and smelly and I would advise popping up to your room if you need to go.
The internet access was always breaking down and sometimes you lost your money and it could be difficult explaining this to certain staff who didn't speak very good English.
Anyway, if you are looking for a family holiday and a relaxing time beside the pool this is the place to go. There will always be certain problems with every hotel you go to but overall this hotel is not bad.
Cyprus is a lovely country to visit and the people are very friendly. The weather was excellent and my only regret is that I spent far too much time beside the pool and not enough travelling around this great country.
We went on a jeep safari which was pretty good but watch out, we were conned into buying a video of our trip and to date have still not received this, which was supposed to be sent out to us.

I think the Papantonia Hotel is...

Nov 2006, Miss J.S Sloan

I think the Papantonia Hotel is amazing, it is beautiful.
I went there for 2 weeks and it was worth every minute. The service was friendly, the food was lovely and there were lots of activities to do.
The children’s club carers were very friendly and fun to be with, there were activities such as the arcade room and night entertainment. There were also lots of competitions such as pool water sports 4 in a row.
The swimming pools are lovely every night they had a different entertainment one night there was a magician and he was excellent, there was a Robbie impersonator who was extremely good at singing.
If I could go on a holiday that I had already been to, it would be Cyprus in the papantonia hotel.

We have just got back from a...

Oct 2006, Mrs S Powell

We have just got back from a fantastic 7days all inclusive holiday the weather was brilliant nice and hot but not unbearable.
The Papantonia is a friendly place to stay close to the beach, Protaras is about 10mins by taxi which was 4cy£ but you could get a bus which is quite a walk up hill to the bus stop or walk along the beach to the right and that takes about 20mins. The rooms are nice and kept well clean, the food is excellent especially if you are willing to try different dishes to what you would normally eat. The bar staff are friendly as well, the larger was either Keo or Carlsberg either of them are good for getting you drunk the spirit measures are large ones as well.
The pools are nice and clean and range from baby pools to deep. The daytime entertainment is good but be warned they are very pushy so if you want to just rest and chill out on your sun bed and do nothing keep out of the first choice reps way and pretend your asleep when they come round but if you do join in pool bingo is good when you get the hang of it, there kids club is good my daughter had great fun and she is 11 years of age.
The evening entertainment is good starting with mini disco for the kids and a quick quiz, bingo then the evening entertainment. Krazy Kayleigh has got a beautiful voice so watch out for her night of singing, the Cypriot night was good as well and also the they do a rock back to school night this was a brilliant night considering there was suppose to be 4 of them doing in and there was only 2 in the end but it was fun and listening to the old school music brought back memories.
Just be careful when walking in the lobby because sometime the kids run through without shoes after being in the pool and it can become quite slippery. Our only complaint was the lifts kept breaking down the air con wasn’t that good and we had quite a few lodgers in our room with us in the way of ants. Apart from that it was a brilliant time and we would recommend it to our friends and family. We would definitely go back.

Just got back from Hotel Papantonia,...
7 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss L Davage

Just got back from Hotel Papantonia, had a lovely stay there. The rooms were clean and quite basic, we had a lovely pool and sea view! Maid didn’t really come often enough, just whenever she felt like it. It’s a quiet hotel so good for getting a goods night sleep.
The hotel is quite far from the main resort, about 25-30 minute walk up hill and then along a main road, or 20 mins along an unlit beach side. However! We hired scooters and it was great. There is small bay (marlita bay) just by the hotel, its water is a bit stagnant and had big fish, I preferred fig tree, def worth the journey. During the day you can walk to fig tree bay along the sea front which is a nice walk.
Didn’t eat at hotel but food looked crap. I would not recommend all inclusive as you wont see Cyprus, and the pool is quite boring everyday, explore Protaras and the Greek cuisine.
The hotel is set among a few other hotels, and handful of bars and restaurant, very quiet area mainly old people, but Protaras is good fun. I went with my boyfriend and it was quite relaxed but there are a couple of clubs that are open from 1:30 am! bit empty tho. Ayia Napa was great fun about cyp£9 each way, quite crazy as you can imagine but good buzz.
I recommend Ilada beach hotel or vrissiana as they are right in the hub of everything. Being so far out was a bit annoying apart from that had a great time.

A fantastic family hotel with...

Sep 2006, Miss H Dowling

A fantastic family hotel with excellent reps, entertainment and hotel staff who were always happy and helpful and worked really hard. Pools are lovely with lots of sun beds and space to move around.
Rooms are nice and clean and spacious. Food is nice but restaurant was far too hot to eat in to enjoy it as was the hotel in general. The only place where you could feel the air conditioning was in the bedroom (the bathroom and living room were sweltering) and the kids club was always cool.
It was extremely hot when we were there, so this could be why. We had a great time at the papantonia and thought it was reasonably priced. We thought Shell and Jenny were brilliant but should promote the trips more as Famagusta and especially Egypt were fantastic and well worth the money. Egypt was fantastic for children, mine are 4 and 9 and they loved Egypt and it is all perfectly safe and well organised.

I’ve just come back from a 2 week...

Aug 2006, Mr D Spencer

I’ve just come back from a 2 week stay in protarus staying in the hotel papantonia with my family and what a fantastic 2 weeks it was this hotel is excellent, the staff are so hard working and friendly and the first choice entertainment staff are absolutely excellent going above and beyond their means to keep the children and adults all entertained.
The food that is available is very good with a choice for everyone with your standard chips, burgers and nuggets for the children. The snack during the day are excellent strongly recommend the Spanish omelette it’s lovely. Drinks and cocktails are excellent with wide variety to choose from and the choice of different flavoured water are great on a hot scorching day.
The rooms are kept clean every day and the general hotel appearance is very clean, The pools are excellent and kept clean and tidy every day, There are excellent facilities for the children in the games area and there is 2 computers for the internet, which are normally working unless one of the older children decides to give it a kick which was a little more frequent than expected.
Overall and never been to Cyprus on holiday before but having done a lot of AI on a lot of the Greek islands I would put this holiday in my top 3 and it is only the second hotel that I have actually said that I would not have any doubt in going back too.
This hotel, staff, reps and entertainment staff are all a credit to the first choice team and made a 2 week holiday one I will never forget thank you first choice and all you staff at the hotel papantonia.

Wow what an excellent holiday
The Papantonia has a fantastic pool and an amazing entertainments team. Big hi to Andy, Tami, Leanne and Kayley they are a great bunch. Water polo bit lethal but fun nevertheless.
My kids absolutely loved the kids club especially chocolate/sweetie party and the meal and movie, such a weight of my and my husbands shoulders. Rooney was excellent in the wavelength group for our teenage son keeping him occupied and not made to feel like just another kid.
Staff at the papantonia are extra friendly and do everything they can for you.
Mainline reps Jen and Michelle are fantastic, booked trips suitable to our needs such as Jeeps, beach party lazy day cruise and an amazing day in Egypt. Both really friendly and do everything they can to help.
I read a bad review on this place before I came and was dreading it but don't listen to those people as we had a holiday we will never forget in all of the best ways.
So if you’re going next year you will probably see us there!
