After reading some of the reports before I went, I thought we had made the wrong descision by chosing this hotel.
The papantonia is a very clean and freindly hotel. The staff in the hotel are excellent and also the reps from first choice are excellent too, they are on the go all day every day and do a brilliant job entertaining you.
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the food was excellent.
My son who is 4 and his cousins who are 6, 9 and 12 were never out of the pool,
This hotel is fabulous for young families.
I do recommend the Lazy boat trip and definatly the Troodos Mountains Jeep Trip these were both excellent days out.
The only concern I had was that the toilet by the pool wasn't very clean as I think people thought that their was only the one toilet their for the women, but if you go down the steps and go through the double doors and turn right their are 3 other toilets that are very clean.
I would definatly recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants to stay in a quiet area of perneria, Protaras is only a 20min walk along the main road, or along the beach where their are alot of building work going on would take about 30 min.

Wow the best holiday I have ever had...

Wow the best holiday I have ever had I have to say!!
I have never been to a hotel where the only people there were British!! the reps were amazing putting on their own shows every evening. We were never short of a First Choice representative.
The kids clubs were fantastic and being given the opportunity have sometimes up to 4 hours throughout the course of the day to relax and have a kid free time was fantastic. They were all fully qualified and knew what they were doing.
We went self catering as there were several bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel complexes and was only a short taxi ride approx £5 to the town centre where there was much to do.
All in all I will be visiting again with my 4 year old next summer and I hope the high standards are still there. highly

Jul 2008, Mrs E Norman

After I booked this holiday I read the reviews and panicked it all sounded so crap, however I just would like to add my bit as to be honest I was expecting a dreadful holiday but was well surprised.
We loved it it was clean yes there was carpets but they were clean. The air con really did work. The cleaners seemed to come in everyday and make the beds. The food catered for everyone a little borring after the end of the holiday but then we did stay for breakfast dinner and tea every day so thats why and you could not knock it for choice. The eating area was very clean which was nice. The staff seemed a little stressed but pleasent enough. Now the best bit was the first choice staff who made the holiday they were amazing. Always something going on and loads of giggles and cheesy entertainment but they did it really well - good on them they were great. Would def go back next year shame a little out of town but a nice walk to burn off dinner in the evening anyway.....

Jun 2008, Mrs S Tomkins

Even though this was our 7th time in Cyprus it was our 1st time staying at the Papantinia. We were not disappointed. Upon arriving at the hotel at 2am we were quickly and efficiently checked in and immediately went to our room. The room was very clean and with ample space. The only bad point was lack of drawer storage space, although the wardrobe was plenty big enough for a family of 4. I could not fault our cleaner who even went to the lengths of laying my daughters' PJs on the bed with their cuddly toys nearby. We went self-catering but did eat in the restaurant once for dinner and twice for breakfast. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection. The dinner was a different matter, edible but not really up to the standards of the local restaurants and actually worked out more expensive than the local restaurants. The pool area was very clean and spacious. It did not feel that the people on the next sun beds were right next to you because there was enough space to spread out. The pools were excellent and very clean. The entertainment team were superb. They were on the go all day and all evening encouraging you but not pressurising you to participate. The shows that they put on in the evenings were great, and the singing and dancing was of a very good standard. The kids clubs reps were brilliant especially Wavelength with Rusty and Ang.
Would I recommend the Papantonia - YES!!!
Would I go back - YOU BET - TRYING TO GET BOOKED UP AGAIN FOR NEXT YEAR

The rooms are basic and very clean! u dont spend that much time in them! The hotel staff are friendly an always willin to help. the food is a little repetative however its cooked perfectly! i went all inclusive so i ate an drunk til i couldnt do it no more! The atmosphere is fantastic around the pool with the 'entertainers' keepin u busy with games for all the family but they dont pressurize u into doin stuff if u just want to relax! it gets thumbs up from me an my family!! il definately be returnin next year!! just hope they keep the same team of entertainers!! My husband, daughter who is nine and...

Jun 2008, Mrs P Mullins

My husband, daughter who is nine and my father stayed here for two weeks on an all inclusive basis. When we arrived i was dissapointed from the start especially with the restaurant wqhich was sweltering because they would not put on the air conditioning and the food was edible (just about) very repetative. Its not near any lovely beach hence we never saw the sea in the two weeks we had there. The room were very basic with no wardrobe space for a family so we had clothes all over the room. We was in room 327 which was right next to the lift so until eveyone had gone to bed we never got any sleep because of the noise of the lift. It also kept breaking down and my little girl wouldn't go in it because it got stuck one day and she was terrified so we had to go up four flights of stairs which were dirty. The toilet kept getting a very bad smell in it but the reception did sort it out straight away. The staff were very friendly and the reps were good fun. The swimming pool area was nice but my daughter did get cuts on each and every toe with the tiles (wore shoes after a few days so no problem after that).
Would i go again ere lets think NO NO NO or maybe would go self catering.

Myself and family have just returned...

May 2008, Mrs D Ford

Myself and family have just returned from the Papantonia and after reading the reviews before we went were very worried about what we would find, but we need not have worried, we found the hotel very clean,we had one bedroomed rooms No.s 3 and 9, the rooms were of a good size, comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels. the food was fine maybe more variety needed on occasions but we never went hungry, childrens meals were perfect the usual chips, burgers, nuggets etc and ice cream galore , the bar service was always quick and had very polite staff, swimming pools were a bit cold this time of year but great when you braved it, perfect for calling of as the weather was hot.
The nearest beach was not very sandy, but if you turn left at beach and walk along sea front for about 5 minutes there is a lovely sandy cove, perfect for children. The first choice reps were fantastic they were on hand all day and evening, my grandchildren had a great time with disco's, games, competitions etc, they even had us joining in with some of the games. I think this hotel has been under estimated I would recommend it to my friends anytime.

May 2008, Miss Rm Rose

we went to this resort in august and we must say that we are very please with the hotel in general. the food was the best we have ever had while being abroad and the staff where very friendly. the hotel in general was alway clean but very basic.
we had 6 people altogether on this holiday and four of them where children ages 9-14. they all had an exelent time and we would return to this hotel in futre.
(p.s) make sure you ask for a room NOT HAVING SEAVIEW because all you hear is the drug dealers and prostitutes screaming and shouting all night. Hope you have a good holiday and good luck x

We arrived at Hotel Papantonia in the...
7 / 10
May 2008, Mr R Young

We arrived at Hotel Papantonia in the early hours of the morning, around half two. We were greeted by an elderly night guard who wasn't very helpful. But we left this slowness to the time that it was. We were given our card to our room, and we walked to the lift.
There were two lifts, located in the main lobby, we stood there for some time waiting for one to come. We realised that the lift wasn’t working, and therefore we had to walk up the stairs, which was quite difficult with suitcases. We were given no directions to our room, we were just left to go. Walking up the inside stair case, the doors and walls around were quite grotty, but we aren’t picky and didn’t worry about it.
We always dreaded to have a hotel room which faced onto a car park, and guess what, out of all the rooms, we got one facing the car park. The hotel wasn't busy, and it was during school time, so we knew there would be some room available. So we wanted another one, we asked the receptionist to change it, but the night watchman on the desk said we would have to wait until the manager came in the morning and changed it.
So we had to stick with that room until the morning, which wasn’t to bad. We didn't bother unpacking all our clothes etc, and in the morning we spoke to the manager, who was very helpful and polite, she changed our room which was now facing the pool, and we were very grateful. I believe we only got this room as it wasn’t busy, but if it was, we would of had to stick with that room facing the beautiful car park.
The room we were in was very basic but clean and tidy. It had all the facilities such as air conditioning, TV, phone, kettle, toaster, fridge and a hob. We had a maid who visited the room everyday except Sunday, she was fantastic and it was like we came back to a new room every night.
Our room looked over two swimming pools, which were kept clean. The area around the pools were filled with sun beds which plenty of space between them. There was sports going around all day and the reps were always around to help you if you needed it. They weren’t around pestering you to get in a sport, they were very relaxed and friendly. Although we arrived in the early morning, we weren’t too happy, but now its day and we can see everything, we loved it. Little things like the lifts not working didn’t really worry us. With shops across the road it was easy to pick up anything from milk to souvenirs.
The beach was located just down the path of the hotel, around three hundred yards, you do have to walk through other hotels to get there, but all the hotels in the area are owned by the same person.
We were self catering, but a few times we did go into the restaurant there, and it was lovely. Food was great and we were able to just go and get anything we like, there was no shortage of food.
Entertainment in the evenings was basic, but we didn’t really spend time in the evening at the hotel.
Protarus was situated only fifteen minutes down the beach, and was lovely to walk down in the evening.
I know I've wrote a lot, but I feel you needed to know. We would go back again, there was no big problem with the hotel, you will enjoy it!
Thank you,
Ryan.
