" We have just got back from Menorca... "

We have just got back from Menorca for the second time and stayed at the Biniforcat in Cala n Forcat. The apartments themselves are an overspill to the Los Lenticos hotel across the road. We booked last minute on an allocated on arrival deal so it was a pleasant surprise to be located here (last time we was in Punta Prima which is excellent).

The apartments are basic self catering rooms with all the essentials you need i.e. fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster etc. The only fault was that the fridge could do with updating as well as the oven. All the windows and doors have shutters on the outside which keep the room cool but dark. Overall though the two bed apartment we had was clean and comfy and we had no problems at all. It was cleaned once while we were there and fresh towels as well.

The pool area is at the back of the complex and is very small compared to alot of places and has a main pool with a children’s pool. It was always clean but one problem was a lack of sun beds or parasols. It is quite a private area which is nice when you just want a bit of R+R. My 5 year old lad loved the pool and we spent most of the time there. If you wanted you could use the Los Lenticos facilities but they are very busy and entertainment runs from midday through till midnight; not good when you want a little peace and quiet.

There is no reception at Biniforcat so everything has to be done through Los Lenticos which isn’t a problem as it’s next door and we never needed anything! The resort of Cala 'n' Forcat is excellent, for kids, families and people who want a bit of everything. Its nicknamed "Blackpool of the north" but I saw no donkeys, kiss me quick hats, and the temperature in Blackpool has never been 28 degrees! There are loads and loads of restaurants (try Los Delphins and the pancakes!) but stay away from Porky's. Plenty of bars to choose from which all tend to serve food and have some kind of kids play area. There is always some kind of entertainment on somewhere especially in the "square" behind the shopping complex. It never got too loud in the resort and we never saw any bad behavior from anyone. In fact we thought it was a pushchair rally as everyone had babies and children!

For the kids there are parks, bouncy castles, trampolines and play areas everywhere. For a couple of Euros they can play all day while you have a bite to eat and drink. They are all safe areas and my boy never had a dull moment, he bounced all day and night! Supermarkets are everywhere and seem to be alot of the same, but do shop around. Plenty of gift shops and same again, shop around for the best bargains.
The beach is a small sandy/rocky cove which gets very busy but is ideal for children because of the shallow water, but watch out for jellyfish in the deeper areas. We hired a car for a few days and did Cala 'n' Bosch as well as Cala Galdana which are both beautiful areas. Also go to Mahon harbour and town and definitely visit Citudella. For anyone who wants a great holiday and has children I would recommend Menorca every time. Your holiday is what you make of it. Overall we really enjoyed our second visit to Menorca and will be going back next year when our second baby has arrived! Can’t wait!
