Great location and Hotel, wonderful snorkelling/swimming and remote beaches to visit, talk to Theo who runs the boats and hire a kayak and paddle out to Limni Beach about as far as you can go, with a car the drives are stunning head north to St Georgios the mountain scenery is remarkable. For a bit of greek night life head up the hill to Dimitri's 'Medusa Bar' and meet the locals. Glyfada beach 20 minutes drive south is a huge sandy beach, great for swimming. For a good meal Nikterida and The Village Taverna offer great views and great value respectively, both are in Liapades village. If you are a bird lover in May you can watch the swallows building nests, just outside your room!
EXCELLENT HOTEL / LOCATION !!
from wayneyboy35
Fantastic surroundings with stunning views (sea / beach / mountains & greenery) - the food at this hotel was certainly above average - prices for lunch and drinks extremely good - short walk (up steep hill) to local supermarket for locally produced wine (which was good) at less than 3 euro's per bottle ! Hotel itself a little quirky and 'retro' but clean and roomy - staff extremely pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be returning.
Elly Beach, Liapades - good hotel in a great location

Don't let the pot holes in the road leading down to the Elly Beach Hotel put you off. This is a small friendly hotel in what must be one of the best locations in Corfu. The hotel looks out over a small secluded bay and the rooms, bars and restaurant tables are a one minute (if that) walk away from the sea. The rooms are spacious and I guess 95%+ must have sea views - simply furnished but clean; they are serviced every day except Sunday. The food in the restuarant is Ok in terms of the evening buffet but good if you choose from the menu either at lunch or at dinner. The morning breakfast buffet was acceptable and varied daily. The prices for both food and drinks are reasonable. The service is friendly and attentive - even offering crash courses in basic Greek! We hired a car for the duration of the holiday and saw a fair bit of the island - we didn't find a better location for a hotel though. If you feel energetic and adventurous - try a walk up through the wooded cliffs to Paleo and Lakones - hard work but at least you can have a cold beer at both places with a clear conscience. Be prepared to like / tolerate cats - they seem everywhere on the island and also watch out for mosquitos.
Elly Beach is lovely!

We moved here from Pantokrator hotel (if you want to know why read my review) and were delighted with this hotel. The staff knew of our previous hotel problems and were helpful and friendly in every way. Our room was newly refurbished, family size and clean, with 2 doulble beds, a bath, a shower and a sofa. The view was incredible and the hotel superbly located with the beach a 2 second walk away with views over the prettist bay in Corfu. Granted the food is mediocre but as a vegetarian they were more than happy to cook me separate dishes which were lovely and very thoughtful of them. The feta cheese and traditional Greek yoghurt were delightful, and you must try the Hot Chocolate and cocktails! It is a shame that the island has a wasp problem (if only the cats ate them)! In reply to another reviewer there is much to do on the island, and my advice to you would be to hire a motorboat or motorbike (it is very cheap to do so) and explore the island (there are also many organised trips, but we preferred to do our own thing). In short, the hotel is the best 3 star hotel we saw and we would be more than happy to return. If you stay here you will not be disappointed!

My partner and I have jusy got back from here...... We've had the most relaxing holiday of our lives. We were on a cheap half board package deal . "continental" breakfast and a buffet dinner was average, but couldn't complain given the cost, and there's a great menu if you don't fancy the choices on the buffet..... (talk to Spiros the Maitre D', he'll point you in the right direction, and mix you a splendid cocktail too). Numerous local excursions available, including a secluded beach barbecue, or a visit to the blue lagoon. We hired an outboard motorboat for a day, and had tremendous fun pottering around the coast, stopping off for a beer at nearby Paleokastritsa. If you want a bit of authentic Corfu, take a walk up the hill into Liapades village. The beautifully decorated interior of St. Anastasia's church, in the "main square", is worth a visit, and there are a couple of simple Tavernas to refresh you afterwards. The whole place is very chilled and layed back, with only 7 or 8 hotels in the place, and a scattering of villa apartments. We were pleased to find that Greeks holiday here (usually a good sign) as well as Brits, Germans, czecks and a few other nationalities, not like Sidhari or Kavos which may as well be Blackpool or Margate. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and the olive groves are great shade to walk in during the hottest part of the day. Our top tip is ; Buy local wine from Anila's mini market (half way up the hill) about five mins from the hotel, it's cheap but worth more, and Anila will put it in the fridge to chill for you to collect later. We are definitely going back *****
lovely hotel and location

Set in a beautiful location,my wife and i really enjoyed our stay at the Elly beach hotel. The rooms were basic, but quite large, they were very clean, and were cleaned daily.Towels were changed every day if needed, linen twice a week. The food was quite acceptable,a couple of times we didnt fancy what was on the buffet,so we ordered off the menu, this was excellent. You had a 25% discount off the menu prices. The pools are good and also very clean. The staff, from the cleaners to the owner couldnt be more helpful nothing was too much trouble for them.Hotel and location are excellent if you want a peaceful chillout holiday. Recommend hiring a car, if you want to get around. All in all a lovely place, well worth a visit.

I visited this hotel last summer. Location is superb, with fantastic bay view, ideal for a quiet holiday, if you want to see a bit though, hiring a car is a must. Food is ok, but if you eat off the a la carte is excellent - I am presuming the other reviewers din't want to stump up the extra cash for this and made do with an inclusive deal - fine but don't grumble if food is only moderate, there's a saying - you do pay for what you get! This hotel is very competively priced for a 4*, but seasoned travellers would know that a Greek 4* is not the equivalent of a British 4* rating - I would rate the accomdation as a British 2*, rooms are basic, hire of fridge and air con a must, then your stay will be pleasantly comfortable. Finally I would mention, I chose this holiday on the basis of it being very competitively priced, with superb quiet views & location, albeit quite isolated. If you expect and want an equivalent British 4*, get a Greek 5* and put your hands deeper into your pockets, and stop complaining, be realistic - you don't get something for nothing in this world!! I would certainly recommend this hotel, ideal for a quiet break in a beautiful location.
beautiful!
from Mikey27
We visited last summer and had an amazing time! The rooms are pretty basic but we hired a fridge and got the air con working and it was fine, bathroom not great but bearable! The view was gorgeous from our big balcony and the position is beautiful. The food was ok but we ate from the a la carte menu and paid extra (25% discount if you stay in the hotel) a couple of times. It was worth it cos the food was really lovely, the view from the restaurant is beautiful aswell. There were lots of cocktails and Spiros would make you anything if you ask. The beach was really nice too and quiet, there's a water taxi to take you round to Paleo and other water sports on the beach. We hired a car and got round the rest of the island too which we would recommend as otherwise it would have been a bit quiet. Both pools and bars were always open when we stayed. We loved it here and had a lovely relaxing time. We definitely recommend the fridge, air con and renting a car though! We will be going back!
avoid

visited elly beach in june/july 2004, as it was a first family holiday abroad wanted somewhere nice so booked what was said to be 4*. having read reviews on this hotel contacted accomodation providers to change hotels but were ensured all was great with the hotel and all problems had been rectified. This is NOT the case, rooms awful, we had to be moved from our 2 bedroom suite as there were live cable hanging out over bath and the childrens bedroom had water coming in through damp walls. Food diabolicle, stale bread and jam for breakfast and undescribable evening meals. You are pretty isolated here and would definatly need a car. There are stray cats roaming in the dining area, climbing on tables. The staff on the bar are very good but the others pretty indifferent to guests. The veiws are nice but do not make up for the substandard accomodation. I would suggest this place be avoided.
Beware!
from ClareINmanchester
Beware if you visit this hotel! Do not go expecting a four star hotel like the tour operater has described. I visited this hotel recently (june 04) and arrived expecting a 4 star experience and arrived in a 1* room! The rooms are bare, with just a bed mirror desk and bathroom! The rooms looked like they have not been decoreated since the 60s at the latest! The showers didnt work very well, they just sprayed water everywhere and not on you!! This was the same for all rooms as i saw a few! The buffet left a lot to be desired! There was a choice of about 2 main meals which all looked terrible in massive metal containers floating about in hot water! The starter was mushroom soup or salad every night (and by salad i mean cheese, radish and tomatoes). The dessert was always a small quantity of plums or melon. The breakfast didn't even have cereal just salad and bread and a toaster! I also got food poisioning. I know this was from the hotel food as we didnt eat anywhere else for the whole week as the hotel was at the bottom of a massive everest type hill that cars came up and down at ridiculous speeds so it was a death trap trying to leave the hotel! I was very ill from some spaghetti i had for dinner and spent a day in bed being very ill! The beach was nice if you like beaches - not sand but pebbles, seemed clean. Nice views too. Pool bar didnt open - looked like it hadn't been open for years. Staff were nice enough - very friendly but they wern't apologetic for giving me and 3 others we were with food poisioning on 3 seperate occassions - they just seemed sure it was the sun that had made us violently throw up hours after eating their food!! When we complained the rep said that the hotel wasn't a four star cos in greece it goes on ABC standard?! Fair enough but why advertise the hotel as four star?? So all in all a disasterous hoilday that was made the best of by laughing with our friends about the ridiculousness of the holiday! If you have booked this hotel or are thinking of booking don't say i didnt warn you!!
I spent 10 days at this hotel with my family and we were extremely impressed with the location, staff and yes, the quality of the food. Lets take the food first. Since June this year the kitchens have produced 35000 servings. I obtained this information from the... more
