sindy nightmare
1 / 10
Jul 2011, storm

hi,
read all the reviews on the sindy before we went,
what we never knew was the sindy had changed hands.
the place was filthy, the pool had glass in, the food was bad .the owner got his staff to constantly hassle for drinks food ect.he got annoyed if you went elsewhere
to eat.we were told it was quiet but was the very opposite music till all hours .must admit this was the first time in turkey and it put us off a bit ,but we were told this was not the norm, maybe try again sometime
but it'll not be the sindy.

just back from the sindy apartments today went with wife and grandson from the word go all the staff were fantastic they are all brilliant with the kids plenty of choice with there menus they have daily specials and full scottish breakfasts etc drink prices are on par with everywhere else
you dont need to worry about dipping your hand in your pocket as you can square up the following day when it suits you no pressure to pay at all they have a varying choice of entertainment on in the evenings with acts coming in and a lot being done by the staff themselves they are all really good dancers rooms are basic but clean we had cleaner available every day these boys work very hard to keep you served from very early till the last person leaves the bar at whatever time
yet this is a very family orientated hotel in the armutalan area all loud music has to stop at midnight due to local council regulations the local area is deemed quiet by marmaris standards yet there are a fantastic range of restaurants within walking distance or the local dolmus buses which run every 10 mins into marmaris centre is always on hand plus a plentiful supply of taxis locally available at very reasonable prices
we booked through holiday4u.co.uk and there service from start to finish from all the reps especially jo was 5 star
looking to go back next year already

we arrived at sindy apartments with a warm welcome by the staff, the weather was perfect everyday for 2 weeks, not one cloud & red hot for 2 solid weeks, staff were excellent & friendly, made u feel at home & wanted, the owner mustaffa would put his self out for anyone,i feel sorry for these people who write bad reviews about this place, they must expect 5 star & be hard to please,i mean, dont get me wrong,i'm not easily pleased, but this was a lovely place, pretty basic, but clean & tidy, what else do you want?, its not like you stay in doors much on your hols.

this was my second trip to marmaris ,first time my family stayed at sindy wot a holiday it was the best, this time our party was split,my son and his girlfriend stayed at sindy and the other 9 of the party stayed at club orient.we as the other 9 tried very hard to enjoy club orient ,but to no avail ,ever day we would walk the 30 second walk round to sindy where mustafa who never forgets a face or maybe we made an impact the last time we were there (2yrs pre) the hugs and the kisses not only off mustafa but his wife lisa, they had remembered us and our friends we had made at our time in the sindy in 2006 ..the sindy is very basic and maybe a few things need sorting out but dont hesitate to speak mustafa ,he will fix any problem you have.the food is fantastic we would have our breakfast there every day,it was so personal that the staff would come out and shout us by name for our food ,we ate there nearly every night and every meal was absolutly gorgeous especially the bbq and the turkish nights .pool partys were the best ...good on ya ..mustaffa.. we hated club orient,my daughter fell really ill in club orient, the first person i thought of was mustafa ,he will get her medical help and he did,i burnt my legs in the soaring heat of over 100 degrees, who went off in his jeep and bought me 2 lots of cream ,mustafa, next day i was at water park sunbathing .we have been on 5 star holidays were we never met the hotel owner ,had drinks with them or the staff ,we got married in cyprus which was absolutly fantastic ,but, there was no personall touch ,we were just another wedding party ,when you stay at sindy the staff and management make you feel like your not far from home.i recommend the sindy to any one who is down to earth ,fun lovig and most of all genuine

Once again the Sindy Apart has shown...

Once again the Sindy Apart has shown that it may be small, but gives a Top Class Service. We arrived at Dalaman at 4am on Tues the 2nd Sept from Birmingham. To be meet by 2 familiar faces from the past.Hassan took both of our cases, and we followed him to the car park.Ozzy the driver fast asleep bless. We headed out of the airport, and heard a sound that will stay with me till this day, Hassan passed me a nice cold Efes and said"welcome to Turkey"well that was it the holiday had started. After another 3 Efes we arrived at sindy Hassan took the cases up,while Heather and myself had a drink and watched the sun rise.
Our room was one of them that looked over the pool, clean linen was layed out.It was clean and presentable. and the kettle worked too.Everything that you needed for a self catering holiday was there. We went down stairs to the resteruant for breakfast.I love the omlettes .Mustafa came over to us later that day to welcome us back , it felt nice to be remembered, as they see so many faces in a season.
We ate there for at least 50% of our holiday, the food was of good standard and matched many others that we had eaten in.The atomic kabab is a must,so full of meat and lots of flavour. The spicey meat balls came a close second with the mexican chicken and the fillet steak so very close behind them.I take my hat off to the chef he's a good un.We were never made to feel uneasy, when we went out for a meal and always asked if we wanted a drink, after all that is their job ,isn't it??????.We had many enjoyable nights there.Karaoke was a scream thanks lorraine and family. The Turkish night (even tho we have been to a few)was great.Pool partys a scream,Bingo Turkish style, we were p*****g ourselfs. Thanks Hassan.
Heather and myself had our 18th wedding anniversary when we were over there. We had came back from the all you can eat chinese, when hassan came over to us and sat us down at the bar.he got the drinks and told us that it was on him.he then came back and asked us to go with him.He lead us out to the pool, where he had a table decked out with balloons, flowers and candles. He then played our tune.He had remembered it from 2006.After the dance Mustafa and the waiting staff brought out a cake , and of course it was complients of the house. That night was a real night to remember, and thanks to Mick the photographer (sindys own),it was captured in print.Thank you all for that special night.
We took Mustafa up on his kind offer of using the jeep.We took off and went to Turunch.Really nice veiws but the lack of crash barriers and hairpin bends didn't go down to well with Heather.we spent most of the day there as its's so peacefull and relaxing.
So folks if you are a working class person, and like a good laugh, and enjoy learning other cultures ,this is the place to go.The waiting staff are so keen to learn from us British.I think alot of the time their egerness to help,is taken the wrong way. When was the last time you went into work and said good morning and shook your mates hand ????
We will be back again next year with all the family, and grandson. This year was the best one yet,its a shame that the rating only goes to 10, for a small family run apartments and the price you will get no better in Marmaris. If you want 5* pay the price,if you want a good time ,good laughs and people who know your name, and not treat you as just another holiday maker,go to Sindy you won't regret it,it's bostin me man.
Thanks Bob + Heather xxxx

2 Adults, 3 Children (9, 5 & 3)
This was our second time to turkey, therefore knew what to expect with regards to Staff/Service & Accomodation.
I have to admit upon aproaching Sindy my heart slightly sank - as where we had stayed before looked much nicer. We had a nightflight, arriving at the hotel @ about 5.30am. Checked in straight away, Staff helped with our bags, we were in the ''other'' block, 3 flights of stairs is a bit of a night mare after such a journey!!
I agree with what a lot of people have said about this definatly being the worse of the 2 blocks! My husbands 1st instinct was to complain & request a move, however i advised against this as we had been on the go since 5pm the previous day, therfore just wanted a bit of shut eye. I do wish id have let him go and speak to someone about this as we found that mnagement were easily aproachable as the holiday went on, i just dont supose i could have been chewed with the upheaval if im honest, at the end of the day the longest we spent in the room was when we were asleep.
All Staff deserve a tremendos amount of praise as they all manage to have a smile on their face bear in mind the rediculos hours they work.
We didnt eat many evening meals in there (preferd to go out) however we always fed the kids in there during the day, great for snaks (Pizza, Chips, Burgers, etc.....) i dont think this in anyway effected the relationship we had with any of the staff they still welcomed us back, even sat & drank with us on a few occasions. We enjoyed the BBQ/Turkish night so much we actually went twice.
Our kids loved this holiday, there still asking when we're goin back. I would like to make 1 recomendation; more fo the younger kids - we had a 3 year old who found it very frustrating when our 2 oldest were playing Table Tennis or Pool, The Kids Play area could do with updatng & being made more secure.
Mustafa took time out to teach our 2 oldest to swin - our 8 year old could swim but was less enthusiatic about actually going under water, a few minutes in the pool with mustafa soon sorted this out. As for our 5 year old, she wouldnt even go beside the pool on here own the last time we were away, again a little help from Mustafa & she was well away.
Any holiday is what you make it yourself, we were a bit downhearted in the first few days, but once we got on with the staff then met some great friends (who we are still in touch with) it turned out to be one of the best holidays we've had (tears at hometime!!)

We (2adults and 2 x 13 yr olds) stayed at the Sindy Apartments for 2 weeks in August 2008. It was recommended by friends and we were not disappointed.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by Mustafa and Lisa (owners) and staff. All staff make you feel as though you are the most important guests there, they are all very attentive but not at all pushy. Nothing is too much trouble. My daughter was really upset one afternoon, she lost a ring in the pool which had great sentimental value......Mustafa went diving in the pool after it was closed to see if he could find it for her!!! Such a kind man.
The apartments are basic but clean and tidy, the maid came in every day to mop the floor and every few days the sheets were changed.
Nice pool area, good bar/restaurant, great entertainment (BBQ, turkish night pool party), and staff who do all they can to ensure you have a great hoilday.
Located in Armutalan which is a 5 min Dolmus journey from the beach/harbour/front, buses run every 5-10 mins, the bus stop is a 2 min walk away and the journey costs 1.25 lira. Some good eating places/pubs within a 5 min walk. 2 mins walk to a lovely bakers.
The Guestbook is full of praise and many people return year after year, they can't all be wrong can they?
If you want all inclusive 5 * luxury then the Sindy is not for you but if you want a 5* welcome from lovely attentive staff in clean and tidy surroundings then you will enjoy the Sindy.
We would definitely recommend Sindy and would love to return.
Thanks for a fantastic hiloday

just arrived back from turkey with my family. we stayed at the sindy appon arrival the first thing we said was when are we going home. the apartments wheretwo separtate blocks one on all the pictures you see the other you don't. its not disabled friendly. staff where always hasseling and very rude and intimadating towards the women. the rooms where really dirty we stayed 4 2weeks and had are rooms cleaned and beds changed twice after asking. bathroom was very dirty and small. shower leaked all over then floor shower head snapped. no cuttlery. sofa bed looked as if it had been pulled off a skip. lots of cats around and one with a dead rat which left blood everywhere. food was horrible gave us doggie tummy we only ate there twice. pool shuts between 5:00 and 5:30. we where always hasseled to buy drinks and food there. we aleways eat at a resturant and apartments called sharas which was fab the staff where friendly and the food was great. we ate like kings for the whole 2 weeks there. its about a 5 min walk from the sindy. doors lock and can not get them open. when taking the key out of the energy saver it cuts all the lights and the fridge which is no goood for a hot country. pool was average never again i do not reccomend this hotel.

I stayed at sindy for the second time in june this year there was 5 of us this year and 17 last year... we all had a realy good holiday and said we would be going back.
we stayed there the same time as lolipop was there and everything she said was lies as we where even on the same plane and coach as her they had stayed at sharas before and had tried to book for there again but it was fuly booked so she ended up paying twice which is why she made these lies to get the money back... before we even got to sindy they got off at sharas to see the staff there and told them she would be staying there.. she must have only been at sindy for 1 hours at the most so i dont no how she can comment on anything to do with the apartments or the staff because she didnt intend on staying there or getting to no the staff..
we went to sharas for a meal as we did the year before and lollipop and the staff including the owner of sharas tried to shown us up in full of everyone because we were stayign at sindy and on top of this we were over charges on the meal and drinks we got which we didnt eat due to the treatment from the staff there
the differnce with sindy is you dont have to be staying there and the staff will still be friendy with everyone. we made loads of frinds there and most people have been there more than once or are going back agin
all the staff at sindy are very friendy and helpfull and made the holiday for us without them we wouldnt have had as much fun as we did.... everyone of them went out of the to help you and make sure you have a good time so thanks to hassan, sakin, issan, ozzy, mustafa, lisa(and there two daughters), cassin, the maids and kitchen staff and anyone else we may have forgotten

there was 5 of us that sayed at sindy it was for the 2nd time we stayed there all of the staff were very freindy and would go out of there way to help you. while there my younger sister was taken into hospital with out the staff non of us would have enjoyed of benn able to cope with the rest of the holiday. this year we were there when lollipop was there all of her reviews are unture they had been to sharas before..as we dove past there before getting to sindy they got off the coach and said they would be staying there instead... we also went to shara for a meal and they tried to show us up along with sharas staff in front off the full resterant also with this the bill was double what it should be!!!! all of the staff at sindy get on with everyone and are realy nice people and we will be friends with them forever.. lollipop also tried to get her money back which is why she is has made theses lies up.. becauses she couldnt get booked into sharas when she booked for her hoilday.
sindy is recommened to everyone...the twice we have been there we have made friends with people who have been there more than once or are going back agin.
thank agian for a great holiday hassan, sakin, ihassan, ozzy, mustaffa, lisa(and her 2 girls), cassin and maids and kitchen staff
