The Plazamar
We have just got back from the Plazamar and thoroughly enjoyed our week there. Once the hurricane (yes really!) was out of the way on the second day the rest of the holiday was great. It is in a lovely location, not too far from the centre of the town but close enough not to have to trek miles to it. The apartments were spotless and well equipped. Like others have said, the aircon is very good, too good for the middle of the night though. The staff were friendly and helpful and on hand 24/7 should you need them. Once midnight struck you had peace and quiet and were encouraged to report any noise to reception, which is ideal when you have little ones (or big ones!) who like it quiet at night. The bar/restaurant on site was expensive but there are plenty of restaurants and cafés within 150 metres to choose from. The Watering Hole was our personal favourite, great food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and they have a fun quiz night twice a week. Their chicken curry is to die for!!!! We are considering going back again next year with grown up son, girlfriend and baby in tow.
loved it
just back from the plazamar after 2 weeks it was brilliant the rooms were spacious and the cleaners were great cos they didnt come till the afternoon or were we just lucky we stayed on the first floor and had a great view of the pool my two boys aged 9 and 6 really loved the kids club and ramon the entertainer was brill my boys loved him he also did football, archeryand rifle shooting for the adults in the afternoon first prize was a pint at the bardidnt eat in the hotel bar very much as it was quite expensive but when we did it was very nice i must recommend kellys on the corner its about a ten minute walk and well worth it for the roast beef and the chicken look out for the parrots near the the beach they are lovely if any one is looking to go here next year then i would go first two weeks in september as there is a fiesta every day there is something going on and on the last night they have a big fireworks display one of the biggest i have ever seen santa ponsa is really nice and has a great beach i would recommend the plazamar to families and there is some great shows especially the parrot and the snake show had a great time here and met some really nice people
Great Apartments,great resort,great holiday.
Just back at work after a great holiday in Santa Ponsa. This was my first time staying in Santa Ponsa and will definately be back and will definately be back to the Plazamar. We flew out from Cork on Sat night and arrived at the Plazamar at around 5.30 am and checked in no problem. We saw a few lads arriving home after a night out and they were warned by the lad on reception not to make noise. Our apartment was on the groung floor and was well equipped with plenty of storage space. the kitchen had everything although all we used were the cups to make a cup of tea. The air conditioning was brilliant and we even turned it off at night as the nights were not too warm. the pool are was lovely and even we did not get up until 11 or after it every day there was still loungers available. The pool is a fine area and did not get too busy. The lifeguard were very good, any time a kid fell or bumped their heads he always came over to see if they were ok. They operate a very strict policy on noise at night and there are signs in the apartment tell people to report any noise they heard after midnigt to reception. The bar area is a nice size and the food is basic but grand. We ate there a few days if we were too lazy to walk down town.Even though it is only a ten min walk to the centre of town. we ate out most days.Tony's at the corner is nice for a light lunch. We had dinner in Crocadilio's and I cannot recommend it highly enough. You may have to queue for around ten mins if you are there at the busiest time between 9 an 10. The food is tasty and you get plenty. You have to try the hot choc fudge cake it is devine. we also ate at Mrs Murhys kitchen and again good taty food. Santa ponsa has a great night life but its not in your face.We spent a few night in Durty Nellies and the Shamrock and the bands there are great. all in all a brilliant holiday, will def be back next year.we met a lot of people who were all saying the would stay at the plazamar again next yea.One family was flying home on the tues anr booking next years hol on the wed!!!!
Loved it !
If you go to Santa Ponsa you will be pleasantly surprised. It's a lovely resort especially for families and couples. It's clean and friendly with a great beach and just the right amount of bars and restaurants. We love it. The Plazamar apartments are in a good location that means you only have a very short walk to the beach and the start of the restaurants and bars. They are at the quiter end of the resort so it is perfect at night with very little noise after 11.00. The apartments are kept clean and are well presented. The pool area is fantastic and is not just the usual big rectangle. It was hard work dragging my children away from the pool.....they just loved it. The staff are brilliant and make you feel relaxed and happy. They are full of smiles and because they speak such good English you wont have any problems. The staff control any noise at night so you always get a good nights sleep. There is even a pool man that controls the sunbeds so that people cannot dump towels on beds and disappear for hours. This means you can always get a sun bed.......great ! Air conditioning in the rooms is 1st class.....you might turn it off some nights because it is that good. The nearest small supermarket is less than a hundred yards away. I would recommend the Plazamar and Santa Ponsa especially if you are looking for a place suited for families. We really enjoyed our stay and are definitely going back there ...... the only problem is the 'holiday blues' that you get when you get home.....you will really wish that you could fly straight back.
fun in the sun
plazamar is in a lovely location for family's. lots to do in santa ponsa.the food at plazamar is expensive so try tony's on the corner for a nice snack .enjoyed our 10 day holiday so much .evening entertainment is a good laugh for family's.
Perfect for families!!
We were here from 14th August for a week and we absolutely LOVED it. There was myself, my boyfriend and his 5 year old. The apartment was nice and spacious, shower was POWERFUL, everything you need for self catering (although we ate out all the time). There was no TV but we didnt miss it at all. I didnt watch any tv in the bar or anything all week! We had the portable dvd player for cartoons when the young lad got bored which was very rare. Cleaning everyday except Wed & Sun and our towels were changed 3 or 4 times overall. couldnt fault the apartment it was exactly what we needed and free aircon! The safe was 17euro for the week but you got 10euro back on departure which was a bargain. there were 3 depths in the pool. A seperate kiddies one and another huge pool which was effectively divided into 2 with the depths. Even though we were there at the height of the season there was always one or two sunbeds knocking around but there was a few grassy areas where you could stick your towel either. It never bothered us at all. The bar & restaurant were grand with a little games room at the side with a pool table and arcade games. Just one thing though the internet machine they have there is VERY SLOW and eats your money but that would be my only critisism. The food was lovely - it was slightly more expensive than down the town but nothing too much. On to the kids club and Entertainment. Only for RAMON the kids entertainer we would have been pulling our hair out. He is absolutely fantastic with the kids and is wasted doing what he does- he should be a teacher. Really i cant stress enough how fabulous he is and the kids love him too. the kids club runs from 11.30am - 1pm and 2- 4.15pm. Its free and we never had a problem getting in. The entertainment was different every night with bingo on beforehand which was great craic ( i won the last night :) ) Most of the entertainment was funny and the kids loved the Parrot show. The complex had a strict no noise policy after midnight and were very good at enforcing it although there was never any need to when we were there. All the staff were friendly and smiley and I would DEFINITELY go back to the Plazamar again on a family holiday. I recommend it to anyone- I miss it already ( and no I dont work there :) ) Its about a 10 min walk to the centre and 15-20mins walk to the Spanish Square. This never bothered us though- not the 5 year old either!!
Delighted with Plazamar Apartments
Myself , my partner and our 3 year old son stayed in Plazamar apartments in May this year, start of season. We would recomend them, gorgeous pool area, bar, gaming area, restaurant, with entertainment nights provided. The room itself was great, very spacious and very clean. Would definitely stay there again. It is away from the main pubbing area but we didn't mind the walk but not too far from beach.
lovely friendly holiday
Just returned from a week at Plazamar. The apartments are well equipped (the knives are sharp and everything works!!). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are just right. It is not too large a complex so everything feels nice and relaxed and almost cosy. You could relax and still feel kids were safe and within easy reach. Good kids club arrangements. My daughter is a reluctant attender of organised activities but loved making clay models, baking a giant pizza and the drawing competion. There is no pressure to attend but it helps them get out of the sun for a short while. The pool bar was very good with reasonable prices and good service. The entertainment wasnt the best I have come across but was good for a small complex. Management were very good about controlling any noise through the night. Everything about the apartments was very well maintained including the gardens etc and kept very clean. I even had a surprise gift of a bottle of local bubbly with two champagne glasses delivered to my room as a birthday present from the management which they must have noticed the date on my passport. Very nice touch. The resort also has a nice relaxed feel without loads of revellers or noise. There are some lovely restaurants within easy walking distance. We had a lovely meal watching the sunset over the bay. I would thoroughly reccommend these apartments to anyone looking for a good family holiday.
Great place to chill out
My partner and I spent a week at the Plazamar at the end of October 06 and I can't fault it - apart from not having TV in the room (which most publicity said they did)! This certainly did not detract from the fact it was quiet, lovely pool area, and our rooms were clean and roomy (for just a couple - not sure about getting a family of four in there. There was the usual Kettle, Toaster, Fridge and Cooker. Pepe who worked in the Bar was a delight, as were the reception staff and cleaners. The Plazamar's sister hotel (The Jutlandia) is just over the road and offers evening entertainment. Santa Ponsa was a nice, attractive resort - not a secluded haven but it had a nice relaxed atmostphere none the less, the main beach is clean and pretty. There was a wide variety of Resturants (Diablitos being the favourite spot for us) and its an ideal location to stay for exploring Valldemossa and Palma. We would recommend the Plazamar for anyone looking for an easy and enjoyable holiday.
Lovely place and great location
I booked this online for a week for our honeymoon and never having been to Mallorca I was aprehensive. I was surprised at how lovely the complex is, we had a studio apartment which had all but tv/iron/h.dryer at our disposal, altough you can hire all of these for a reasonable price. The pool is lovely and every day except Sat there are arranged activities for adults and children, ie pool competitions or archery/shooting for adults, or pizza making/or drama etc for kiddies. The bar/rest on site is fine although expensive. Each evening there is entertainment but for those of you wishing to experience something else try the "square" for drinks and Fat Sams American Diner for fantastic food. Will be going again with our daughter for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!
