Considering it's officially a 2 star hotel, I've stayed in 3 worse 4 star hotels in Gumbet! Had a great week. Friendly staff, good food. Great that there are sunbeds by the pool or the beach. Drinks fairly priced. Room cleaned daily. Had problems with air con but ended up... more

good location
just returned from the gumbet cove and have to say the location is perfect , right on the beach, a little out of the main drag so nice and peaceful but only a short stroll along the restaurant lined seafront into the main areas , as for the hotel being 2 star i wasnt expecting luxury and the rooms were very basic but with a balcony overlooking the sea it was nice to sit there drinking wine in the evening, cant fault the staff , all hard working and very friendly ., didnt actually eat a meal there as we like to venture out of an evening , having said that i wouldnt bother rushing down for breakfast , very limited choice and the same every day ..in summing up if you want a cheap holiday + right on the beach you cant go far wrong with the gumbet cove
lovely hotel!
We stayed at the Gumbet Cove in June this year. We have stayed in Gumbet many times before and have to say this is most prob the best hotel we have stayed in. Not because of luxury as it is pretty basic, but that was made up for by the position (right on the beach) ,the staff (all excellent) and the quality of the restaurant. Oh and not forgetting the pool which our daughter loved! We had a ground floor room with a sea view which was great. The maid service was efficient and regular. We would definately go back and would highly reccomend. The owners are in the hotel most day and Hassan the restaurant manager was great and nothing was too much trouble. Stuart, Di and Gabbi (11)
Goregeous little hotel
Just got back from this lovely hotel. Cant believe it is classed as a 2 star property as Ive stayed in worse 4 stars!! Our room was really big with a 4 poster double bed and large balcony overlooking the pool. Very clean rooms the maid came every day and even put flowers on the bed. Hassan runs the restaurant and is a great guy cant do enough for you same as at the beach bar, all staff were great. Food was ok but not the best we went BB which consisted of boiled eggs(which sometimes were not cooked so be carefull!!)melon cheese etc.. Best restaurant to eat at in Gumbet is def Planet Yucca food and service was fab, ask for a leaflet before you go then you can get 15% off your meal the guy at the front has them. Make sure you go on the BBQ night on a Thurs at the hotel, def the best meal we had there and good entertainment with a belly dancer and turkish dancing. Will def return to this hotel!
June 2008 review
Very friendly and attentive staff. Rooms basic but clean, British guests appear to get the block nearest the beach which is okay for views but unfortunately gets a LOT of noise from the entertainments areas of this hotel and the hotels either side. ( imagine sitting in your car with windows shut and stereo on full ) They wanted £3 a day for the remote to work the air con... You don't need it there is a small button on the unit that switches it off and on The hotel backs onto the beach where there is a small bar run by a friendly barman who looks after you. Seating at the bar has usual tables and chairs but also has bean bags for chilling out on. and have sails over head to keep away the midday sun Adjacent to the bar on the beach you will find Hido who organizes all the water sports and some boat trips, He is a genuine nice guy. There are lot's of good water sports When you come out of the hotel onto the beach turning left takes you to the main beach area where there are dozens of hotels that allow you to use the sun beds , hammocks and bean bag areas We were half board and the food was okay breakfast was usual continental bread cheeses etc BUT you can get scrambled eggs on request.. Evening meal food was good but repetitive ( we did not get a choice but that may be because hotel was quiet ) Dining is outside in a roofed area ( very nice ) Gumbet shops and restaurants are ten minutes walk from front of hotel. there are lot's of good places to eat we found that Planet Yucca served best quality food and entertainment was brilliant. Shops have good quality copies of T shirts , shorts, polo shirts, sunglassess bags purses etc etc Haggle to half quoted price There are also lot's of shops offering some fantastic trips . haggle again try and get them to add on a Turkish bath Both my wife and myself went for the Turkish bath / massage etc It was excellent I also had the shave where the barber used an open razor very good but not for the faint hearted Travel to Bodrum town is very easy as the local bus service runs every ten minutes ,, 24 hours a day,,, every day . You can't miss them they are white and green and you can stop them anywhere .. it is 2 lira for any trip to any place The locals are very very friendly and made our holiday Remember when you visit Turkey you require an English ten pound note on entry for a visa ( Scottish ones not accepted ) Also if two or more of you are travelling have a seperate ten pound note each as the will not accept a twenty note for two people !!! Finally buy an electronic mosquito deterrent for your room and the spray for your body
Great hotel in Gumbet!
A friend and I (both in our late twenties) booked a last minute deal to Gumbet and ended up at the Gumbet Cove - We had the best time!! The hotel is just on the edge of the main drag, which, for us was the perfect location. It was relaxing and quiet on the beach during the day and then a 3 minute walk along the coastal path to the busy nightlife. The hotel itself is lovely - a real Gem! We were told it's 2-3 star but defo a good 3 star with 5 star service from the staff, in particular the barman Sal. The rooms in the hotel are basic - bed, table, wardrobe, fridge, and haidyer but extrmely clean and I believe every room has a balcony. Perfect if you don't want to spend much time in your room. The Gardens of the hotel are very pretty and well kept and the pool imacuately clean. Stayed B&B and the breakfast was fine. Ate at the hotel one evening and had the nicest vegetable Fahitjas but strangely one of the veg was sprouts! The beach bar is lovely for chilling out at as the sun goes down. Overall we loved the hotel and liked Gumbet. A Day trip to Bodrum is a must as the castle is beautiful and you can go to the market.
Good Value for money - Enjoyed my stay
Stayed at the Gumbet Cove from the 20th - 27th August 2007. Went there as part of a wedding party of 26 of us for our friends wedding. Apartment: Stayed in an apartment, very basic but clean and not really big enough for four people and we had a few minor gripes about the apartment. Only 3 chairs on the balcony for four people and nowhere to sit inside the apartment apart from on your bed. Also two of the beds were in what would have been the living area so the people sleeping here had no where to put out there personal bits & pieces as there were no units or tables for them to use and no air con in this room, only in the main bedroom area. Only 1 coat hanger each on arrival but we did manage to prize a few more from the staff but not enough for four people. One ring of the two ring hot plate didn't work and only two big plates for four people. Shower was wasn't working properly throughout our stay and finally decided to not work at all the evening before the wedding. Was disappointed that after 5 separate polite requests over a 18 hrs period, I still had to make one more rather forceful request for them to fix the shower and it was finally fixed @ 16:30 hrs on the day of the wedding. I wasn't very impressed with this as they knew that we were part of the wedding party and four people had to shower and be ready for the start of the wedding @ 18:30 hrs. Unfortunately we didn't have a very nice view from our balcony we overlooked the entrance of the hotel adjacent and had their security guard waving & blowing kisses whenever we appear on the balcony but at least he was being friendly. However, some of the other hotel rooms & apartments had great views and were bigger in size so be sure to ask for a sea or pool view if possible. Personally I think they squeezed four of us into an apartment that at best should only accomodate 3 people max so we were a little cramped and not much space for us and our belongings. Apart from the gripes above there were also some very good points about this hotel. The pool was like a bath, lovely & warm and never a problem to get a sunbed. Meize Turkish breakfast was lovely. Most of the staff were very cheerful and helpful and were very friendly. The beach bar area with its lovely chill out area with great big soft bean bag type cushions was fab for flopping out and having a snooze or long cool beer. This chill out area was undercover to give you a break from the intense heat - lovely. The beach is very small but lovely and a dip in the sea an absolute must to cool off from the midday sun, much more refreshing & cooling than the pool. The grounds are well maintained but could do with some additional lighting on some of the stairwells and pathways as it was a bit difficult to see at night where you walking especially down the stairs from the apartment. The hotel was in a good location, taxi rank just outside the hotel and up a slight hill. The hotel did a great job on the day of the wedding and the food for the evening meal was superb and was enjoyed by all. The wedding itself went very smoothly but the hotel didn't actually organise the wedding that was done by the bride's sister who lives in Turkey but the hotel and staff were excellent on the big day and did a great job of making the sure the whole event went smoothly. I did enjoy my stay at the Gumbet Cove and there is a good nightlife and choice of restaurants in both Gumbet & Bodrum and of course lots of shops where you can buy your fake bags, clothes, sunglasses etc at reasonable prices, don't be scared to haggle for the best price. The entire wedding party enjoyed their stay. Would I go back again- possibly, I wouldn't rule it out but I would ensure I had a better apartment or hotel room next time round.
What a great stay!
Myself and 4 girls decided to have a last minute holiday and chose to go to Bodrum, Turkey. The Gumbert Cove hotel in Gumbet was a last minute choice, and not to say the least I was quite uncertain about staying there as we had not seen many reviews. However upon our 35minute journey from the airport to the hotel, I must say I was hugely impressesd. Their receptionist showed us to our rooms and we were very impressed. The room s are enough for 2, and are basic but very clean - especially the bathroom area. All rooms have a terrace with a pool view or sea view which is lovely! They also have apartments for larger groups such as ours. We had a look at them and would recommend them too. There is a private bar area with private beach which makes your stay all the more personel. It is a family run hotel, and I must the most kindest family and staff that i have ever met. They are so welcoming and we became very good friends with them throughout our stay. The bar tendor - Unsal, is very funny and goes out of his way to make your stay very enjoyable. The owner Hassan, looked after us so much that we didnt want to leave on ourt day of departure. I highly recommend this hotel for all familes, couples and even friends. I am already planning my next stay there! The drive to Bodrum by taxi is only 10 minutes away, and is such a lively, friendly turkish place to go out too. Thankyou all at Gumbet Cove for making our stay such a rememberable one! we hope to see you all soon!
Home From Home

Gumbet Cove a Little Gem
We stayed at the Gumbet Cove Hotel in Sept. 04 and were delighted with this small, family-run place. Everything is basic -- no extras -- but very clean, comfortable, charming, attractive and well cared for. Every room has a terrace or balcony, many with seaviews. The pool/lawn/beach area is just right for quiet relaxation during the day although the hotels next door can be noisy at night. The staff at the Gumbet Cove are friendly and kind, and full of helpful information. The hotel is conveniently located. I would recommend this place for people looking for an alternative to the large resort hotel experience.
Excellent Holiday at Gumbet Cove
We stayed at the Gumbet Cove hotel from 13th to 20th Sept 04 and wanted to tell people how much we enjoyed it. We had never been to Turkey before and were a bit nervous but we needn't have been, it was great. The food is excellent in the whole resort but was best in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Our room was lovely and clean as was the pool area, the private beach also got a clean sweep each morning!! There was a mix up by the travel company and we were left stranded at the hotel without a transfer back to the airport and the owner of the hotel got his own car out and took us himself (for a fee of course!) but it was less than a taxi would have cost us. Lovely week!
