Fantastic little hotel....After having just been to Turkey 2 weeks earlier on a family holiday, my wife and I decided we loved Gumbet so we wanted to go back..just us. We looked for a quieter hotel than the last time at Jasmin beach. This hotel looked just like what we wanted and it was great.
Upon arrival in the early hours we had been allocated a smaller two bed apartment which was fine, but a bit small. Nevertheless being tired, went to bed deciding to speak with the reception in the morning. The chap on reception was very helpful and showed us some different apartments. We settled on a suite which fronted over the pool, was much larger inside with a four poster bed (well at least a good effort). This cost me a negotiated £90 extra for the week, well worth it if you can afford the extra. Aircon was 70TKL about £30 for the week paid on departure.
Hotel was very clean, no noise as there was not really anything for kids to do, so out of the whole hotel there was only one family we saw with a child of about 5. The hotel is not very big and would definitely suite the quieter holiday maker. Gumbet main tourist area is 10-25 minutes walk depening on which side you want to be. Nice for an evening stroll before or after dinner.
We stayed B&B as we ate out the time before and it was great, so decided to do the same. Breakfast was fine, not very extensive but fine. We never at any other time at the hotel apart from the last day when my wife ordered a ham burger for lunch and she really enjoyed it.
Nice pool, hotel is right on the beach (about 30 yards from the pool) with a nice little private bar on the beach for those lovely sunsets. Taxis plentifull just outside the hotel and round the corner, so were the Dolmus (small regular taxi like mini bus which run 24/7). Be carefull to catch the right Dolmus though as when coming from Bodrum, some dont go near the Gumbet Cove and turn in town before to head back to Bodrum.
Ate at Tempo Bar again - excellent food - sizzlers are great, dont forget to haggle for your free bottle of wine with each meal, we did!!! They even sent a taxi for us one night. Our dinner always cost about 60TKL (£25 for two), not bad at all.
Hint - if you are in Bodrum for a meal and are near the main marina, too its left if you look at the castle there is a small alley of shops running in the opposite direction to the main marina, there are some fantasic resturants down there which front onto the water and you sit on a deck above the water - fantastic.
Hope this helps, we will definitely be going back next year to Gumbet Cove!

We booked The Gumbet Cove Hotel with 3 weeks notice and got a fabulous deal. We read the reviews before booking and were confident we would like the place. We weren't wrong. It is a lovely hotel. The staff are really nice and friendly and the place is very clean. Our only complaint would be that they need more moveable sun parasols. The ones that stay permantly in the ground don't provide enough cover at certain times of day.
Breakfast was just the usual continental - fruit, cheese, olives, eggs and bread but it was enough for us. You can purchase the evening meal they provide to half board guests for around £10 (20 Lira) and it is worth it. Served in the garden with a gorgeous view of the ocean and the breeze to go with it.
But for a change the Bronze Bar just at the start of the main village is a MUST. Their steaks are to die for and the casserole done in an eartenware dish is delicious and you get sooooooo much of it.
The hotel is set back from the main life of the village but this suited us great because the noise in the hub of things would have drove us crazy. The Gumbet Cove Hotel was lovely and quiet at night.
I have one tip - take shoes you can go in the sea with. The edge of the shore is quite shingley and pebbly.
We travelled with a Turkish airline (Onur Air) - DO REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR OWN DRINNKS ABOARD. We found paying £9.00 for 2 cans of coke a bit much! Same price on the airport coming home too and the authorities don't stop you taking fluids through airport security, so buy ahead of time.
We left our hotel to fly home at 01.20am. The receptionist kindly let us have our room with the air con until the minute we had to leave. It was so lovely to have that luxury as I know people in other hotels had to vacate their rooms by 12.00 noon, and some even 10.00am that day.
I'm not sure the Gumbet Cove is a place for young children - really only the pool and sea for them. We went alone (a rare no kids holiday) and it was a perfect relaxing break.

Considering it's officially a 2 star hotel, I've stayed in 3 worse 4 star hotels in Gumbet! Had a great week. Friendly staff, good food. Great that there are sunbeds by the pool or the beach. Drinks fairly priced. Room cleaned daily. Had problems with air con but ended up fixing it ourself and not paying for it. Ideal location, walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. Although there are steps, there certainly aren't as many as some hotels in Gumbet. A great week - will definitely return.

we have just come back from 2 weeks in gumbet.unfortunatily we made the mistake of choosing the gumbet cove hotel to stay in, i dont really no where to start didnt really have a big problem with the room it was very basic but ok.when we arrived went to the resturant and the manager did not even acknowledge us the staff seemed miserable(we soon learnt it was because the manager was constantly on their case)we went back to our room and realised we did not have a kettle we asked reception if it was possible to have a kettle in our room and they refused they was not helpful at all.by the second night it seemed that the manager was constantly watching us giving us quite aggressive looks so by the 4th day there we had enough and luckily got a room at the hotel we stayed at last year.if you are over 90 and want to stay in the hotel from hell then book the gumbet cove bare in mind we are not a loud couple off teenagers we are both in our late 30s. THIS HOTEL HAS NO HOLIDAY ATMOSPHERE

My partner and I stayed for a week in September 2008 and had a fantastic time. The hotel was clean and the staff, especially the manager, Hassan, were all very friendly and keen to help.
The hotel has superb grounds and a lovely pool. Situated right on the beach with a beach bar, the staff are very helpful; serving food and drinks and ensuring all guests have a sun bed.
We loved the watersports which were very close by, and enjoyed snorkelling with Hassan to check his fishing pots and look for octopus. The location was perfect; a short stroll along the beach to a town with a lovely choice of bars and restaurants. The town is what you want to make it; it can be lively night out or a nice quiet drink with a meal. Lots of shops too. Just a short dolmus ride into Bodrum for a huge market and a pretty marina and castle.
Only comment would be that our bed sheets could have been changed more frequently, but this is just being picky!
We would definitely return and may well do again this year.

This is a lovely family run complex with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
It is very basic but also very clean, im sure our room was cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and took a shine to our 1 year old boy so kept bringing him fruit during the day and wouldnt let us pay for it.
The hotel complex is situated in the quiet end of town so no noise issues (apart from the usual drunk Scottish family fighting and shouting every morning at 4:00 but that happens on most holidays right?). We found Gumbet to be a little more pricey then expected especially as we ate out every night. There are some excellent restaurants along the beach front with some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life. The Red Dragon resaurant deserves a mention, the food isn't great but the atmosphere is wonderful and the host Mario is really friendly as were the rest of the staff.
I wouldn't bother going on the market trip but the jeep safari was really good fun and defintely recomended. The boat trip is ok for a day out.
On the whole we enjoyed our trip and we agreed we would probably go back again and would definitely stop at Gumbet Cove hotel again, even though there are fancier more expensive hotels it is sometimes best to stick to what you know.

Hotel basic but clean, (be aware that in Turkey the toilet systems are not up to our standards and you have to dispose of toilet paper in a bucket not down the toilet). Requested & paid for a sea view but didn't get one! Breakfast adequate. Air conditioning cost £40 for two weeks but worth every penny if the temperature is as hot as when we went (41C). Staff very friendly, cant' say the same for the manager who just scowled at everyone. Although this hotel is in the quieter area of Gumbet, during the day you can still hear loud music from nearby hotels. If you like Blackpool you will love Gumbet ..... say no more.
The best thing about the resort of Gumbet is the bus service which allows you to get away to much nicer places, the service is excellent and runs from just outside the hotel, a half an hour trip will take you to Gumusluk, Golturkguki or Toba.
