My husband and I just returned from our week in Playa Gardens. It was a really nice holiday. First of all, the hotel is situated in a quiet mini resort (a few other hotels, a handful of restaurants and supermarkets and that's pretty much it). This is either a blessing or... more

The perfect hotel for families with young children. It's a shame that first choice has only 30 rooms next year. A German company has taken over for the next 5 years. Buffet food was good and typical of Majorca. Do avoid the A La Carte as it is not good and a little... more

Arrived at early morning to trickling water in reception, the noise of an inside fish pond. The hotel was amazing, with 9 apartments, all easily accessible. The pools offered different ages, one for small children, one for taller children and a deeper pool. The Papaya snack... more

I think the holiday was good and the night entertainment was good as we did not have to go outside the resort for food or entertainment except for when we visited the shops in Alcudia which I highly recommend and the hydro-park water park. I advise older couples not to go... more

My partner and I stayed at the Playa Garden Apartments from 06/05/06 to 13/05/06 (only 1 week, which was plenty for us). We found the holiday on first resort website through aol and it was really cheap for a 4 star hotel. The Playa Garden Apartments are nice, very spacious,... more

Enjoyable stay at Playa Garden
My husband and our daughter (age 4) spent the first 2 weeks of June here. The positives first - The pool facilities were excellent as was the hotel run kids club. The pool side bar had a varied and reasonably priced menu. The evening entertainement was the highlight for our daughter and gave us an opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine! The entertainment team were excellent and really made an effort to keep the children entertained. On Wednesday there was a kids day with t-shirt painting, pony riding and lunch - there was a charge but our daughter loved it. We ate in the hotel buffet for breakfast which was fine - not wonderful but fine. The evening buffet when we tried it a couple of times was nice - it has the advantage that if you are running late its very handy, even if there is not a real restaurant feel to it. We found the Underground, about a 5 min walk, to have the best menu and the biggest portions. The childs menu can be coloured in and crayons supplied. The negative - we could hear some of the conversations in the room beside us and their child crying at all times of the night - the walls are very thin. The playground could do with a make over and really is just a slide - that said there are lots of other things to do including the lovely beach a few minutes walk away. We would return but probably will not as there are other countries we would like to visit.
What a great place for kids
we have two children, 17 months, and 3 and a half.. and so far.. i can´t fault the actual holiday.. first choice have been extremely accommodating.. really really helpful.. especially with the kids.. we can put our 17month old in the creche as many sessions as we can.. and so far, it´s really quiet (we are still on holiday here now).. so thought i would write this.. and i tellyou something, you really need to do it.. it´s such a break. our three and a half year old has loads to do aswell.. some sessions are 2 hours.. some three. .and there are usually more than two per day.. so you do get a break.. the only thing is that the rooms are very basic.. but thank god for air con ' it´s 39 degrees c here at the moment.. nightmare.. also the walls are paper thin too so bring earplugs... the beach is wonderful.. food very same same ' chips with everything.. know what i mean.. the good thing is the supermarkets (even though pricey) have fresh milk.. i thought they would only have uht.. so i´m pleased about that.. the creche do babysitting.. but you have to tak ethe kids to them in the evenings.. until around 11 at night.. but kids here don´t go to bed til 11 anyway.. as there is always sometehing for them to watch on stage.. if you do want to go out around the hotel without them.. we bought a walkie talkie with baby monitor.. and it has a three mile radius.. so that´s quite handy.. no other tips.. but i think without the creche and kiddie club it would be an everage holiday..
Excellent Location for a family Holiday
This is a great place for a family with Kids. The apartments are spacious, well laid out and extremely clean, I would however recommend requesting in advance an apartment with either a pool or beach view (on arrival we were given an apartment with a view of the road and amusement arcade outside the complex, they charged us 22 Euro to change room, you have been warned ! ) Apart from minor grievence above I cannot praise this hotel enough. The pool is brilliant and split in three sections gradually getting deeper. Sunbeds as usual are snapped up quite early in the mornings by the towel bandits. There is entertainment each night, don't expect West End Productions but on the whole they are quite enjoyable epecially for the younger ones. There are creches and kiddies activites running throughout the day with a list of daily activites posted in advance at reception. There is a buffet each night and a beach snack bar serving high quality food throughout the day. We didnt sample the buffet and chose to eat out each night in either Alcudia or restaurants located outside the hotel. Incidenty Alcudia is well worth a visits especilly to the market that is held on Tuesday and Sunday, there are also some nice restaurants here. Probably the best thing however is the beach, absolutely beautiful white sand, crystal clear water and is extremely clean and safe for kids. If you want a special hoilday and want a guaranteed good time then this is the place for you, it might cost that little bit extra but it is worth it. Best family holiday we have been on and best hotel/apartments we saw during our stay in Alcudia.
brilliant beach
Just spent 1 week in Playa garden appartments in Playa de Muro with First Choice. Had our 2 daughters with us aged 2 and 6. Hotel was excellent with clean tidy well equiped rooms that were cleaned almost daily. The hotel had loads for the kids and entertainment all day and night. Weather was brilliant for May. Only negatives was the wait at the bar and the shops are a little sparse in the resort although Can Picafort and Alcudia are only a bus journey for a few euros.
The pool makes it special
I travelled with my husband and two sons, ages 13 and 9, plus two other families with similar aged children, in August 2005. It was exactly as the brochure had described, no complaints, the pools are lovely and large and clean, there is a battle for sun beds though! The rooms are spacious but could do with updating, clean but fairly basic. The hotel lacks entertainment for slightly older children, fine for the kiddies and adults but nothing at all for teenagers, not even the sporting events. The staff were all very friendly. There is a shop virtually on site and a couple of bar/restaurants across the road but it is best to travel by bus or taxi into the nearby towns - much more choice and very cheap to get there. We had a fantastic holiday and didn't feel the need to complain about anything at all however my gripes would be : lack of sun beds, lack of entertainment for older children and slightly jaded rooms.
Fantastic family holiday destination.
I have just returned from the Playa Garden apts last week(16/08/05) I travelled with my two sons (12 & 7) The boys loved the pool which is in three parts and goes from walking into a couple of inches to about six foot deep. There a couple of bridges over the pool and a small water fall section which they loved playing in to! The on site entertainment team were fantastic and worked very hard to make the holiday something special; and they suceeded. From early morning, well 10am, through to 11.30pm they were on hand to chat, play with the kids, answer any questions and generally be friendly. The evening shows were of a very high standared and their singing was actually good!! Unusual when you're away!! The apts. were spacious and clean. The free air conditioning a God send. The pool area clean as was the pool and even though we went at the height of the season we always got sun beds and didn't have to be up before 09.30 to manage it. Reception was 24 hour and the staff behind the desk all spoke great english and were always pleasant and smiley too! Situated on the beach was a brilliant place. Gorgeous sand, cleaned every evening by a big machine. The life guard spoke broken english but had a medical case bigger than 'casualty' and was brilliant when my son was bitten by a jelly fish, put on his medical gloves and used a new tube of magic cream! (he said jelly fish are unusual there but I don't know how true that is) The food provided by the restaurant was great and the papaya garden snack bar did delicious ice creams as well as all the usual snacks. I will be returning next year and am only too happy to recommend it to all that read this review....
Best Holiday So Far
Just returned from playa garden apartments, this must have been one of the most relaxing holidays i have ever had, not only did it fully cater for me and my wife but it had plenty of entertainment for my 9 year old son and 2 year old daughter. The staff were all very polite and very helpful. The rooms were very clean. Having booked with First Choice I found the Reps to be very helpful, but be aware the reps do enforce the No Reserving Sunbeds Rule, and good to them. You may find there is no need to leave the complex as there is enough to keep you there, there is enough entertainment during the day and night time, the evening shows and buffet are simply superb. Do I need to say any more, thumbs up to Playa Garden Apartments, and keep up the exellent work....
quality in the sun
super place, relaxed atmosphere, staff can't do enough for you. quality throughout and a safe enviroment for kids.
Brill
I thought it was the best hoilday ever. With a show every night, I didn't want to go home!!!
Best family holiday
This is the best place for a family holiday. Have been twice 2002, and 2003. After a disastrous holiday in Lanzarote in May we are going back to the Playa Gardens for a real holiday. Hope it hasn't changed!
