This hotel is more like a four star, the food is excellent, the rooms are clean and tidy, the animation team is hard working and fun, the location is stunning, the standards at the pool bar are also high. My wife and I went with our 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son and we all had a brilliant holiday, I would recommend it to anyone, we will definitely be going back at some stage.

Pleasent surroundings/room. Food fine, and staff very friendly. generous amount of alcohol used with drinks. Animation team very good and funny. activities great. The best part of the holday was the people very friendly especially the Scotish.
~plenty of sunbeds/beach nice too/ Only negative comment is around the fact the sunbathing/nighttime area was not hosed down or cleaned.

What an awful hotel and the sister hotel the Corfu is even worse!
The reception staff at the hotel are very rude.
Our room was very basic but we would expect that but we didn't expect the 8 cockroaches living in it!
The food is awful.
The smell is awful.
The people are the type that should be on an asbo the rest of their lives.
If you want a 2 star hotel this is the place for you.

My wife and I stayed here in May 2007 for a week. It was our first all inclusive holiday and we enjoyed it so much we are coming back in May 2008 for two weeks.
It is very much a working class British holiday which is no bad thing. If you want to get away from Brits go to the mountains in France or rural Spain. The fact that I can travel from my local airport is a major boost. We hired a car cheaply and toured about most days.
The hotel was well maintained and was a reasonable standard. The food I would say was good but I'm not a perticular "foodie". I particularly enjoyed a salad at lunch-time. We didn't go to the pool as it was crowded but spent a lot of time in the terrace areas which were idylic - over-looking the cove.
The boat trips from the cove couln't be handier and went to the most beautiful coves nearby.
I give it it a 10 as it is good value for money. If you want to pay more there are better hotels and better locations but it suited us.

We were here for the first week of opening, to start with 50 people in hotel swelling to about 150 by the end of the week.
Weather at this time of year is warm, but not hot so bring a jumper for the evening.
Entertainment was held inside every night BUT if like us, your a non-smoker, be prepared to be stuck round the corner away from the stage so you can see NOTHING, smoking is that bad I think I'll go to the doctors for a nicotine patch for my withdrawal!. The entertainment is very much like Butlins/Pontins style.
Food is absolutely disgusting, you'll be lucky to find anything you like and if you do it will be luke warm (eat out twice on an all inclusive package!!).
The daytime activities were good though, and in fact all 3 points in this review is for this alone. These guys will look after you...so JOIN IN!.
The staff at the reception range from Faulty-Towers to ok. At night it's a worry that the night porter spoke no english (but how many night porters in UK speak another language!), and there was NO security!.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Cala D'or and Marina Corfu was a better hotel with better staff and food, Skorpios has better views!.
Would return, but later in the year (maybe Septemberish). Pool guard was telling us that in the peak time there can be about 800/900 people in the hotels and with this in mind it would be an absolute nightmare (at the end of our visit, remember it's a half empty single hotel!)...we were out booking loungers!.

Just returned from a week at the Marina Skorpios, in the Cala Egos area of Cala D'or, which we booked online with Excel Holidays - www.xl.com.
There were 4 of us in the room (2 adults and 2 children) which made it a little cramped, but the view we had from the balcony made up for it. We were on the top floor (room 428) which had excellent sea views. The room was very clean on arrival, with maid service daily to change towels (if required), mop floors etc. I was told that there are a very limited number of larger, family rooms, available at a supplement (but only 1 per floor, and none were available when we asked). The rooms feature a good sized bathroom, with shower over bath. Every room also has a television (with about 12 channels, including ITV), a safe - subject to small cost and deposit payable locally, and air con (although we didn't need it at this time of year).
The food was generally good, with plenty of choice at all meal times. Breakfast (8am to 10am) consisted of a hot buffet (english bacon/ spanish bacon/ full range of eggs/ sausages/ fried tomato/ hash browns/ black pudding/ beans/ onion rings/ and chips (yes, even at breakfast times). There were also cereals, yoghurts, croissants, bread buns, toast, etc available.
Lunchtime (1pm to 3pm) and evening meals (6:30pm to 9pm) were fine, with a good choice of fish, meats (lots of pork), salads, cold meats, vegetables and desserts at every mealtime. Kids enjoy their own buffet (the usual sausages, chicken nuggets, etc.). Soft drinks, fresh fruit drinks, hot drinks, lager (Estrella) and wines (red and white) are available at mealtimes (Tip: the red wine in the restaurant is lovely). There was always plenty of friendly staff on duty to keep the restaurant clean and tidy. There is also a poolside bar (10am to 6pm) which serves a good selection of drinks and snacks (chips, hotdogs, burgers, sandwiches, ice-cream, etc).
The evening entertainment is held outdoors when weather permits, and indoor at other times (it was indoor during our stay). Each evening comprised a mini-disco for the kids, followed by prize and cash bingo (which we won!) and then a show (we saw a live 'parrot' show which was excellent. The entertainment staff were all great. Daytime entertainment was fairly limited (time of year, I guess), but there was always something happening - eg. archery, football, crazy pool. etc.
The bar (open 10am to midnight) serves all you would expect (OK, in plastic glasses - but you do get used to them - honest) and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
The resort itself is very clean and pretty - a little quiet (especially in October) but does have a decent selection of shops, bars and restaurants. A mini-train (which picks up right outside the Skorpios) runs hourly into Cala D'Or itself, where you will find a greater choice of shops etc. (3 Euros return fare - a bargain - and only 2 Euros for kids).
All in all, we've had a great break, good value for money, and may well visit again.

I stayed in this hotel last October for a week and what a week we had. The food was lovely and the staff were great. You do not need to eat out in this hotel. We booked a last minute deal and it only cost us £550 for us both and we are going back next year and we are quite willing to pay the full price for it. The only thing I do not like is drinking out of plastic glasses but this is normal for all inclusive med resorts. The bar staff are willing to make you up any cocktail you want. There is a small beech in a little cove and you can see all the small fish ( The water is so clear) Nearly every room has a sea view and the view is amazing. This hotel is situated in a very quiet part of Cala de or, It is actually called Cala Egos but there is quite a few little bars around and one is even open until 4am with Karaoke and Disco. There was a Polish girl behind the bar named Madelina and she couldn't do enough for us. There was also a nice Polish chap but I forget his name. It is not just Brits and Germans in this hotel, There was also French and Spanish as well. I would go back this year but we are getting married in Cuba in November otherwise we would.
Try it you will love it.

I can't believe people can praise this hotel!
It's terrible!
This is the kind of place that would appear on tv 'holidays from hell'
The food is disgusting, the kids all seem to be 'asbo' quality, the smell is like my drains on a hot summer day, the staff are rude, the hotel is very shabby and the entertainment will send you to sleep.
Avoid this place and the sister hotel at all costs.

We had a fabulous time at the Marina Skorpios. The hotel is in a superb position right upon the beach. We e-mailed the hotel one week prior to our stay to request a top floor sea view room & they obliged by allocating room 329.
The views from our balcony were just breathtaking and you could sunbathe all day up there if you so wished.
The food was really good, very tasty with a fantastic selection at every mealtime, I'm not a veggie but the vegetarian options were lovely especially the spinach cannelloni!
As was previously mentioned the bar staff were great, (apart from 1 who never cracked a smile all fortnight!!!!) Magdalena was the best of the bunch, she was Polish and nothing was too much trouble, always welcoming and courteous.
I can't believe the comments about not being able to get away from the noise to sun bathe as there is a fabulous terrace with huge bamboo cushioned sofa's, well away from the pool where you can escape the usual 'holiday entertainment' that happens during the day and relax in peaceful solitude.
We had a fabulous time and would not hesitate going back to a superb hotel that offered real value for money especially looking at the prices in the local restaurants and bars.

We arrived at 22.45 pm to be told to leave our bags with night manager and get a quick drink as the free bar was about to close.
Then he showed us to the dining room where we had a very large meat and cheese salad waiting for the three of us, with bread rolls and fruit which was just the job at that time of night.
We couldn’t fault the holiday at all, the staff ,the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms was brilliant, a credit to all who work within the complex.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone. The all inclusive buffet style meals were very good, the location of the hotel likewise, great holiday had by all.

Just back from a weeks stay at the Marina Corfu, the hotel and rooms were generally clean, pool area not particulary nice, muddy patch of grass to put sunbeds on, had to get up at the crack of dawn to get one, did not even attempt to get one at the larger pool which was totally overcrowded.
The food was not good, badly presented, cold, not very appertising, the deserts were brightly coloured and bland. Our first impression was that we would have to eat out every night, however we managed to suffer it for the week, mainly because my elderly Mother could not get out and about very well.
There are steps leading down to the beach, larger pool and entertainment area which is not good for people with walking difficulties, this shoud be clearly stated by the tour operator but was not.
The entertainment was quite good in particular the two tribute bands, everything closed down at midnight so did not find it noisy as some reviews have said.
Staff were friendly, apart from some of the bar staff, drinks were not nice, wine watered down.
Overall if you can suffer the food and not being able to get a sunbed then the location is quite nice, sea very calm and good for kids.
I would not class it as a 3* its 2* at most, I will not be returning.

Have just returned from a fortnight at the Marina Skorpious as a party of eight, four adults and four children 3, 3, 4 & 5. Overall we had a great time, we had booked two family rooms which were located at the front of the hotel - so no beach view, but they consisted of twin rooms, a main room with a double and single bed and a separate room with a second double.
Rooms were air-conditioned clean and tidy both with patio doors on to a single balcony. Main room had a fridge and a TV with BBC and ITV, safety deposit boxes (at a reasonable charge) bathroom was good with shower and bath - towels were changed daily or on request.
Food was excellent, all self serve buffet style, and breakfast was different types of cereals, fruits, cold meats and full English breakfast. Lunch was typically all types of salads, various selection of hot meats, veg, potatoes or chips, veggie section and various sweets and cheese's, evening meals was similar to lunch but with a larger selection including soup, and a carvery (some nights).....there was always some thing there we all liked and most days we were just spoilt for choice...so went back several times for more!
Pool and beach whilst small for the two hotels were good, spent most of our time around the pool which we and the kids loved, they were either in the kiddie pool or in the larger one with the adults, there was a life guard on duty all the time.
Only downer was having to be at the pool by 8.30am to get a spot by the pool (many were being reserved with towels/chairs from 7am) and loungers as they were unlocked at 9.
The pool bar was great serving food and drinks from 10am - supplying water, tea, beer, shorts and cocktails, food was sandwiches or burgers, hotdogs, chips etc all basic stuff but hot and good quality, the children soon found out they could go and order their own ice creams and drinks. The guys working here were great very friendly and always willing to help. We spent most of our days here and found it relaxing, there was music playing and kids enjoying themselves, kids club (at the top end with stage where evening entertainment went on) and various organised event going on all as expected for a child/family orientated hotel.
The kids disco in the evening was great as it wore them out prior to going bed, we didn’t see the main evening entertainment but what we did hear sounded fair to very good. We stayed up at the main lounge once the kids were in bed (using baby monitors) and played cards and had a few G&T's and cocktails.
Madeleine, a lovely Polish lass ran the bar in the afternoon/evening and again she was very friendly with the children and adults. The evening entertainment finished around midnight after which everything in the hotel closed, so apart from a few banging doors the place was quiet.
The beach/sea were lovely, it's a small cove used by hotel and locals so it is crowded, the sea is generally calm and great to swim in and cool down, lots of small fish can be seen swimming around (no jellyfish in site).
The local town of Cala Egos is a 200yd walk away with a handful of shops, bars and restaurants (plus taxi rank). Cala d'Or is a 40 minute walk or a 20 min trip (bumpy)on the road train stopping at the main hotels/locations on the way or a 4 min taxi ride, it has an amusing marina containing great bars & restaurants and massive motor launches running into millions of ££, the town also has numerous shops, restaurants, bars and clubs etc.
So overall remembering the Marina Skorpious is a family/child friendly hotel it ticks all the boxes, the 'all inclusive' side is again over expectations for a 3 star.
Our rating would be 3 star plus and highly recommended for families with kids up to 10/12. But singles, childless, or teenage families may not agree.

Beware! These sister hotels share two pools and it is absolute hell trying to get a sun bed, people queue then it is a free for all because there is just not enough space for every guest.
It is like being in a sardine can.
We have stayed at numerous all Inclusive Hotels but this has to be the worst for quality of food, the meats served were mostly things like offal e.g. Liver, ham knuckles, cottage pie full of fat etc.
We stayed in the Corfu and the furnishings, decoration, & furniture are decidedly tired and worn. We asked to stay in the Skorpios but were told on arrival that we couldn’t. We also asked for a sea view but the only way we could see the Sea was to lean over the balcony.
The beds were dreadful nylon mattresses and the springs dug in when you tried to turn over.
The pillows were badly stained and did not particularly smell too good. The toilet seat was broken as was the television controls, when we complained they changed the toilet seat but were told that if we wanted to control the television we would have to pay a deposit of 20 Euros to get a remote for the television.
We most definitely will not be staying at this Hotel again and will not be booking a holiday through Direct Holidays.

I can't believe anyone would give this hotel a bad review! After reading some of the reviews on here prior to going on holiday, I was really apprehensive, but it was a really lovely, clean hotel.
It was right on the beach, which was a gorgeous little cove. Although you could not get a sun bed by the pool, there were plenty on the beach. We used to queue up for them at around 9am when the guy unlocked them, but there were still many left at midday so no need really.
No one seemed greedy when it came to the all inclusive package. There was never any long queues for drinks or snacks.
People weren't loud or over the top in the evening - reading the reviews before I went, I thought it was going to be a Spanish butlins - it is not like that at all!!
The food was great, loads to choose from including a vegetarian section and carvery most nights. Loads of fresh fruit for breakfast, lunch and dinner, who can complain!
Just out the back of the hotel were lots of shops and an amusement centre for kids, with trampolines, go karts, mini quad bikes etc. The kids loved it.
We loved this hotel and the lovely setting on the beach and will definitely return.
