Brilliant location!
from Clare-C
We booked this as a last minute deal on Teletext holidays and after reading these reviews I was quite confident that The Marina Skorpios was going to be fine. I never expect too much from last minute deals but I was very pleasantly surpised when we arrived. We arrived at about 5.30pm and were the only ones checking in at that time. It did seem to take abit longer than normal to get fully checked in, so I would agree with one of the other reviews that it would be manic if you arrived in a big group. The place is spotlessly clean. Honestly...I saw a cleaner still working at 9.30pm! The maids were very sweet and didn't bother us when they wanted to come in and we were still in our room. Infact all the staff were mostly friendly and smiley. The food was good, sort of varied but mostly made up of the same kind of things. There was a vegetarian and children's section as well as the main dishes and they have theme nights too. There was always something for everyone's taste and the breakfasts were excellent! The room's were fine, a good size although beware of the bath water...it's so salty that it could be coming straight from the sea! The only thing that I found disapponting was the pool and sun terrace. Considering the number of people staying at the Skorpios and the Corfu there just wasn't enough space. The pool was half the size it should be and the terrace was too small and there were never enough sun beds. It really is dog eat dog with the sun beds so be prepared to get up early to bag a decent spot. Still though...not enough to really bother you, and there's always the beach. The beach is situated between the two hotels and is lovely. It does get busy down there too but you would never have trouble getting a spot. The entertainment was good, there's always something going on for kids, and me and my boyfriend (we're both 25) LOVED the kids mini disco in the evenings!! Cala Egos was very surprising too..I knew it was a small resort and thought when we ventured out it would probably be to Cala D'or, but that wasn't the case at all. There are several English bars (Sparkles, Bar KO, Yates', Bar Bogart) and loads of restaurants/pizzerias/take-aways etc. A Farmacia, couple of Spar's, endless sounvenir shops and a couple of perfumerias. I loved Cala Egos. But if you do get fed up with it Cala D'or is only a 5 minute tax ride away and it's a fixed tarif of 5 Euros so you'd never be stuck there. I really really enjoyed my holiday to The Marina Skorpios and would honestly recommend a visit. Have fun!

We have just returned from the Marina Skorpios Hotel in Cala Egos . I Must say that Palma airport is huge !!!! Lots of escalators to help you walking along the route. The duty free shops are up stairs, and the Spanish staff were very helpful and give you clear directions to get to departure lounge, the Luggage collection was very quick. We arrived after midnight, no welcoming food or drink, only one man on reception , we got to our room fast as we were only people arriving that night. could take longer if more people arrive at same time. Hire a safe key, 3 euros refundable. The hotel accommodation was excellent it was extremely clean and fully air con. (Controllable in your room) We had a room overlooking the beach and sea great view, evening entertainment from Corfu Hotel meant it was noisy until after 11.00 p.m. but use ear plugs no problems then. The maids changed towels every day and made the room up, The beds were comfortable and sheets soft, very thin long pillows. A complementary kettle was useful for making a drink, be warned the tap water is salty so use only bottled water only, tea coffee does not taste like ours, have the peppermint tea, refreshing. If you ask in reception they have an adaptor for electrical appliances if you don't bring one with you. TV has sky sport ITV and BBC1 + others not English We found out on last day you could up-graded from half board to all inclusive for 8 euros a day PP at the Corfu Hotel which is all inclusive. There was a choice of food for both meals breakfast cereal, fruit yoghurt bread, cheese, and evening meal soup, salad and meat, fish, different potatoes veg etc. A children's menu some vegetarian choice more in the Corfu Hotel , We struggled some days for main meal, try the orange juice and chocolate custard! mmm The staff were all friendly and some spoke good English, like Natalie in the restaurant and the Polish bar girl and at reception. The beach was cleaned every day sea was turquoise, clear and warm slightly salty, Some jelly fish activity in deeper waters so watch out for them. Plenty of fish to look at so buy a snorkel ! and a lilo its worth it to paddle out and lie on . Look up "Floating hammock" pop up minimal inflation and fits easily into luggage . The pool areas are nice, larger one has snack bar and loos, smaller pool is the warmest and has a better shower. They were both busy and people put towels down early morning to reserving loungers even though it is stated in Hotel RULES not to do so. Hire loungers on the beach 4 euros, a spanish man comes round the beach selling fresh melon pineapple and coconuts, a bit expensive, though refreshing. Watch out for girls selling sarongs and skirts and tops 15 euros, cheaper at boutique I mention in Cala Egos. Have your hair braided 10 euros for half head, The hotel was quiet during our stay and most of the entertainment and children's activities were over at the sister hotel The Marina Corfu. This did not bother much with it, as we went into Cala Egos to the many bars and restaurant . The bar in hotel is a little expensive and on half board you do not get a drink of any kind with your meal unless you buy it. A mention for Skooby -Doos cheap booze big screen TV english run. Smugglers Bar in the Marina , the interior was done out like a smugglers cave, air con. terrace highly recommended bar staff very friendly. Best gift shop Terra Bona Comercos directions from hotel, as you are walking to the shops after roundabout , it is 1st left on the corner. The best prices for wrap around Sarongs etc.-small gifts , beach towels very good choice and prices. There are many excursions available from caves to markets, I would recommend a boat trip 18 euros 10 for kids book either at reception or as you go on board, use the slide and swim from the boat. leaves from the bay at various times. Well worth the money. The Cala D'or express train costs 3 euros return giving you a small local tour , it can get full especially on cloudy days !! alternative local bus service or taxi hotel reception will book one for you very quickly ! Cala Egos is great to walk around you feel quite safe, not many night club bars like in Cala D'or. I recommend Cala Esmeralda beach, and Cala Ferrera as well as the Natural park de Mondrago beach. Watch out sea is VERY SALTY here water warm and clear. The reps have different days to visit so look in tourist folders in reception also the weeks weather forecast is in folder on reception desk. We did not book a late check out as the hotel has a luggage room and a room is available to shower and freshen up in before your late flight home. We were lucky staying 21-27th June a week before high season starts it was not over run with people about a quarter full may be at a guess, I can imagine the hotel could become busy like the Marina Corfu later on in the Season. and every thing would change but for us everything was just right a fantastic holiday and all in all I would give it 10 out of 10 a good family and couples younger couples may want better night life though.
the staff were all so freindly

We booked this holiday as a first holiday abroad with my 6 year old little girl, she thoroughly enjoyed herself, and so did we. the staff made us feel very welcome and the Entertainment team were great, there was always something to do....especially water polo!!! We have booked this resort again but we are going to use the sister hotel (marina corfu) The rooms were clean, food was great and we all enjoyed ourselves.

this was our first time away i have three children ages 14,11,and 4 and they all loved it the hotel should be a 5 star not a 3 the room could not be any cleaner the food had every choice possable the staff was so helpfull and frendly my 4 year old wanted some donuts and the bar staff made sure he got them he thought it was grate they were so good with all the children the maids cleaned our room every day clean towels and beding all the time what more can you ask for even down to the beach there were men cleaning the sand and the water it was just so spotless if you have not been this hotel is not to be missed you will have the time of your life like we did a big thumbs up to skorpios marina hotel we will be going back one very happy family.
Nice hotel shame about location
from GromitBath
Myself and fiance travelled here 3rd sept for one week. Overall it was a pleasant stay. The rooms were cleaned daily and for once we had decent beds and it was nice to have a fridge and kettle. (Tip - bring a cloth, washing up liquid and tea towel if you plan to use this as the cups do not get changed). The breakfasts were great even had black pudding as well as fried, scrampled or boiled eggs. Various breads and rolls, fruit and cereals. This is the first place i have been to with a microwave to heat my weetabix up!! The evening meals were disappointing after reading the other reviews. They seems quite bland and it was always soup, salad, chips, roast (different meat, dry yorkshire puddings, veg), fish or rice dishes. Plus one or two other things such as pizza or lasagne but saying that i would not know how to improve it. Various cakes and fruits although always the same but different flavours. The entertainment was ok, very much based around the kids and probably older generation. The beach outside was absolutely packed as was the pool except for when it rained! There is one other beach nearby but that is just as small and has people from the surrounding hotels using it. San Miguel costs about 2.60 euro bottle in hotel or about 2.50 euro pint in bars. Spirits are more expensive than home about 5 euros (£3.20) for a Malibu with coke. Location wise we did not like it, about 5mins up the road is the supermarket and a few bars (3) and restaurants and souveneir shops. Bit far to have to carry loads of water back plus the bars are very much based around football so if you hate it you have to keep your back away from the many TVs. Taxi to Cala d'or is 5 euros and the mini-train was 3 euro round trip. The train however does not run in the evening. Overall if you want a relaxing holiday and you dont mind the kids waking you up by running up and down the hallway or screamng by the pool you will enjoy it. The hotel staff were very friendly.
excellent

I spent a week at the end of July at the Marina Skorpios with my husband and two girls aged 9 and 7 and we had a great time. The hotel was spotless. The food was excellent in quality and choice, and the trays of food on the buffet were replaced with new before even empty, so everything was fresh and never left sitting around. The pool area was nice if somewhat busy, but it sits right on the beach, so you can watch older children from the top of the beach area if they are in the pool.(has to be seen to be believed). There was a lifeguard at the pool also and the hotel entertainment team play games for all, at different times of the day. The first choice kids club was great and the children had fun there. The beach was cleaned by the hotels staff in the morning and a boat comes in and cleans the bays of any rubbish etc, with long nets. Some jellyfish in the sea to be careful of. A man comes and sells lovely fresh fruit on the beach daily, which was a nice refreshing snack in the hot sun. Evening entertainment was good, but somewhat late if you have little ones. Free crisps, drink and icecream for children great. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Natalie. Fridge in room great idea, with a supermarket in the town just down the road if you want to stock it with drinks etc.
we were in a group of 6 in 2 rooms and all loved it

we went in a group of 6 and found the marina skorpios a very enjoyable holiday destination and we would definatly return to the marina skorpios in cala egos. the children were kept busy throughout the day as there was plenty of activities to take part in some for older children and adults eg. water polo ther was also plenty of activities for younger children to do like painting, the entertainment was very good and the night out with the first choice crew was the highlight of my holiday as the games and entertainment kept people laughing and enjoying themselves for hours i would reccomend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to majorca on holiday, the staff are very polite and speak very good english and the hotel food is very nice there is lots of varieties and the veitarian section is also variatised, the hotel hygine is excellent and as i said before i would definatly reccomend this hotel and go again

I would have never chosen this hotel if it wasn't for the reviews I read on this site and I feel I must contribute with my own review so here goes! I travelled with my wife and 2 kids (4yrs & 18mths) Hotel rooms - These were cleaned, towels changed and beds made every day, even to the point that the chambermaids folded our childrens pyjamas and placed them on their pillows and put shoes on racks. Public areas - Spotless - like others have said there is always someone cleaning, the outside terrace is somewhere nice to sit and enjoy a drink before or after dinner. Beach - The best part! The kids loved it - safe, soft sand and crystal clear water with lots of fish so get yourself a snorkel set (10 euros from local shop) - even my 4yr old was doing it. I must admit I did have to lay the towels down in the morning just so we could get the perfect position, we then hired the sunbeds off the man on the beach - 4 euros each. Pool - Very busy and unless you want to queue to get a sunbed first thing in the morning, there are none to be had - there are plenty of chairs avaiable though. At about 3-4pm a lot of people start heading off. This is when we came off the beach to use the pool area. The pool itself is great. They have built a new small kids/baby pool ajoined to what is now the main pool. Bars - Lounge bar - Excellent service as this is the only place where the kids use their all inclusive allowance they as many soft drinks, crisps, Ice cream, and lollies as they want from 10am-10pm. The staff are extremely patient and helpful and they make a good sangria!and also did daily cocktails for 2 euros - bargain! The Pool bar - Good service and good food for a snack at lunchtime. They always have a daily special, e.g. pizza + glass of wine 4 euros. Don't miss Thursday - fresh paella day, WE DID !!!! this is also where the main evening entertainment takes place. The kids enjoyed the mini disco, even if it was the same music every night. I think they try to get the little ones to learn the moves - it was really easy to spot the people who had been there for 2 weeks! Food - Well... why is it that because we are british that they feel that we need eat british food in Spain. Yes, the food was hot and and the kids had their own section (burgers, nuggets, chips and beans mainly), BUT there was always a roast something, everything was out of a tin or packet (Veg and cakes)and for me the last straw was the night they called English night where we had Lancshire Hot Pot, Chicken pie, Fish (their version) & Chips and roast beef. No local dishes at all during the week we were there, which was a shame. Please Skorpios, where is the Paella and fresh seafood and meat cooked in the sauces from your country. Don't let this put you off though - it isn't bad enough for it to spoil the holiday. On a plus note, the breakfast choice was good and every night the bar area where you had to get your drinks from in the restaurant had a "wine of the day" average price 8 euros (£5.00) a bottle. To sum up Great location - honestly, you cant choose better! The hotel and rooms are spotless, clean and comfortable, the beach is superb - the best in the area. Great pool areas with a good bar. IF they could only sort out the evening food quality, It would be a 4 star hotel easy, but trust me - it's only a small niggle on what was otherwise a perfect holiday
