Perfect Choice!

We stayed at Stratos Hotel for 5 days in the end of September.
The staff was excellent , making us feel more than welcome.
The pool is extremely clean as long as the rooms too.
The breakfast buffet had enough variety and we couldn’t understand why some visitors complained in the reviews about that.
After all it was the perfect choice in a beautiful village!
We'll be back for sure!

our vacantion it was 7 days for 2 adults and 1 child 3 years old. n
good things:nice hotel, clean room, new room, quaiet zone, nice people, good swiming pool.
bad things: no parking place, to many stairs and no elevators, no hamal, no room service, to poor breakfast, no option for children about food like cold milk, just 2 tipe basic cereals, no tea, bad coffe etc, too earlier program for breakfast(9-10.30 am), no AC in room for breakfast. bad atitudine for hotel personal when we has some problems. no positive implication in find the solution, to many conditions about the program in hotel or use the facility bar.
the beach it is to far from hotel. on the hotel site they present 10 min to the hotel. in reality it is 20-30min and again to many stairs. if you have kids and specific equipment for kids is necesary to use another way for acces to the beach - 25-45min.
is to bad, because afitos is a very nice place.

Very pleasant hotel with really friendly owners. Perfect if you want a quiet place to relax with a friendly atmosphere. Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Very enjoyable salad at lunchtime at a reasonable price. Room fairly small but totally adequate but as you're near the centre of the village don't expect a view, there are plenty of those close by so it isn't a major problem. If you can book on line without using Thomson holidays then do so. Thomsons messed up our room booking and we got a double instead of a twin, and they dropped us off in the middle of nowhere and drove off without telling us where the hotel was. The rep was also a bit pushy and told some fibs to sell trips. The shop in the village sells trips cheaper and the public bus is exceptionally cheap and easy to use. I'd definitely visit again.

A fantastic, friendly, family run...

Oct 2007, Miss L J Sykes

A fantastic, friendly, family run hotel! The Stratos Hotel is ideal for a quiet, relaxing break.
My partner and I were always made to feel welcome. The staff (Mama and her 2 daughters Anastasia and Stella) did everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
The pool area is small but very clean and toilets by the pool were always immaculate.
The pool bar serves drinks and snacks all day until midnight (superb Greek salads and Mama's pizzas are the biggest in the world!)
The rooms were clean; the only problem was that the bathroom was very small.
The breakfast was simple but OK and the breakfast time was very good- serving till 10am.
The location of the hotel is ideal- only a short walk to the shops, restaurants, bars and beach. A cocktail night was held at the hotel once a week, great cocktails but very strong so beware!
Afitos is a fantastic village and we couldn’t have wished for a better hotel.
We are hoping to return next year!

The Stratos Hotel is a lovely small...

Aug 2007, Miss A Butler

The Stratos Hotel is a lovely small hotel which is run by a lady who likes to be called Mama, and her three daughters - Anastasia, Stella and Maria Nikolaidou. They are all really kind, helpful and have great sense of humour. The hotel is fairly new and not all of the rooms are operational yet. They presently only offer 32 rooms (I think), although they have over 70.
The rooms are not huge, but they are big enough. All rooms have an en suite bathroom with either a shower or a small bath. Inside the rooms are twin beds which are easy to push together if you are a couple (double beds are not common in Greek hotels), a hairdryer, a TV, a small fridge, and a safety deposit box (for an additional charge of 2 euros a day). There is also air conditioning for an additional cost. Each room has either a balcony with a table, two chairs and a small clothes airer, or the outside is part of the terrace.
The pool is quite small, but again it is big enough. You are allowed in it from 10am-10pm. There is a tiny child's pool attached to it. There are numerous free sun loungers around the pool, but they do not have cushions to go on them. There is an outside shower and toilets.
Next to the pool is a little bar and cafe. Currently the menu consists of Greek salad, tuna salad, fruit salad, omelette with either bacon, cheese or sausage, and toasted sandwiches. They have a selection of hot and cold drinks, and lots of ice creams to choose from.
The bar stays open until 12pm every night, and every Wednesday night they hold a cocktail evening. They will also serve you food late at night, which is very handy if you have a late flight and don't arrive until after 11pm.
Breakfast is a buffet. There isn't a massive selection of food, but it is all you really want (coffee, tea, juice, cereal, bread with butter and jams, fruit, yoghurt, eggs etc).
It is only a couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants - although be prepared to be almost run over every time you leave the safety of the hotel!
The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, and it is down some steep stairs and a windy road. It isn't a difficult walk, but it can be tiring in the midday heat. The beach is a bit messy and you have to be really careful of the sea urchins in the water. It is like a minefield.
Afitos is the nicest resort in Kassandra. It has some sort of preservation order on it to stop it from turning into all the other resorts in the area. The only thing that lets it down, is the traffic. It can be very scary and stressful just to walk up the road.
Thomson ran a Sunset Cruise, which was fantastic and really romantic. It is for adults only and is quite expensive, but well worth going on.
There isn't a lot to see and do in Halkidiki, but Afitos is a nice place to relax and get a tan.
I highly recommend the Stratos Hotel.

Very warm and welcoming hotel. Staff excellent. Rooms very clean not very spacious, comfortable beds and quite if other quests are OK.
Breakfast was good, choice of cold buffet, all self service but excellent breakfast supervisor lady.
Pleasant surroundings Afitos is a very old nice village, short walk to shopping centre, and beach.
