Mercure Paris La Defense Hotel

Typical Ibis hotel -- inexpensive and characterless. Don't expect too much from this hotel.

Honestly, this hotel was perfection!!! Upon arriving extremely late, the reception, which only had 1 staff working on it at the time, checked in our whole coach load of about 50 in a matter of minutes and when me and my partner had trouble with our room key they sorted it out with no hassel. Stayed at the Ibis during March 07 for a weekend with friends. The hotel is located on the west of Paris and is about 30-40 mins walk into the centre, or the metro line is close by to the hotel. A taxi into Paris is about £10. The hotel is fairly basic in terms of the rooms. That is not to say the rooms are bad but they are a bit limited. Have just returned from an excellent weekend in Paris. Everything about our trip was superb. HOWEVER there were two problems at this Hotel. First and Foremost the rudeness of both barstaff we encountered. No eye contact, no manners, arrogant disdain, felt that just to request a small glass of red wine was just too much of a task for them to perform. They both were very curt. Spent the weekend of 8th 9th 10th dec at this hotel. The good Although a budget hotel. our room was clean the bed again clean and comfortable and king size. Breakfast was buffet style, with everything you want to eat. no hot food but if you went hungry it was your own fault. Excellent breakfast and plenty of it. staff were always replenishing items. I and the rest of our coach tour have just returned from our visit at this hotel. It was pleasant and comfortable and adequate for a weekend stay. However, it could have been more pleasant as there was a lot of people smoking in the hotel foyer near the bar and the non-smokers were forced to go elsewhere to have a drink and chat. After reading reviews on this site I was worried about staying at this hotel. Never the less, the rooms were fine, they're clean and comfortable. However, the rudeness of staff was off putting and annoyed me as the bar staff was more interested in her broken nail than serving customers and then I was short changed, when I pointed out to her that my bill came to 6.10 euros not 7 euros and she hadn't given me the correct change, she stated that there wasn't any change in the till and that I had to go back later in a very aggressive... more

We (a group of 11 friends) have been staying on 28/04 til 01/05/06 at the ibis-hotel in La Defense. The booking of 6/7 double rooms had been made via internet. A confirmation by the ibis-central-headquarters was presented in hard copy to the receptionists. They were extremely unfriendly, were firstly not prepared to accept the confirmations presented and, finally, they were prepared to give us rooms on different floors, what was OK. We came here on a weekend package deal and were not disappointed. It is very clean (barring the French insistence on burning tobacco everywhere) and the bed is very comfortable. Good, spotlessly clean bathroom with excellent shower. No "in your face" porn channels on the TV, which is a major plus in our view (Hilton, Holiday Inn take note). This is a mediocre hotel that places its guests at high risk for theft. My briefcase (with passport) was stolen from me while I sat in the lobby on a weekday afternoon. Similar thefts apparently occur regularly. Yet the hotel has no security cameras, no guards, and inattentive desk staff. If you stay here, keep your hands on all your possessions all the time.
