If you want a holiday which is rustic and old world then Corsica is for you. It is a beautiful island full of charming towns and villages secluded beaches, mountain walks with rivers and even the odd big city with designer clothing shops.
We spent one week there in a quite resort but still had a wonderful time.
The restaurants in Porto pollo were very nice with a wide range of food. Plus, if you escaped into the mountains in the evening you are sure to find some lovely little restaurants which do some great food.
The price of everything is a lot higher than the UK if you can imagine that, so no cheap food and drink, its kinda hit and miss where you eat also. Also, if you do not speak French then you will have problems communicating as generally their English is poor so take that phrase book or learn the basics quickly!
It is a must to hire a car so you can get about and see some of the towns high in the mountains or the bigger cities. However if you are adverse to driving on the right and don't like weavy up and down roads with no barriers to save you from 200 feet drops then maybe it would be best not to visit! or at least don't drive, and if you are a back seat driver take a blindfold.
The hotel was very nice with good service but as they had no pool or restaurant we only really used it as a base to sleep.
I would say the best way to see Corsica would be to get your return flights and car hire and drive round as much as you can seeing as much as you can, because if you stay in one place you may feel bored and trapped in.
Overall I would go back again but not for a few years.
